The first round of the 2025 Ein Bay Open began under sunny skies and a temperature of 12°C, with a light breeze for the early players. By early afternoon, the temperature had risen to 22°C, and a northwesterly wind picked up, reaching 22 km/h with gusts up to 42 km/h.

Round 1 Player Quotes

The Italian Giovanni Manzoni shares the leaderboard after the first round with a total of 8-under par. Giovanni scored 8 birdies and an eagle on the 17th hole after encountering a double bogey on the 15th. The 25-year-old, winner of the 2023 Qualifying School, turned professional after a long stint representing the Italian National Golf Team. Here are his statements at the end of the round:

It was a great round. I got off to a strong start, hitting three shots close to the hole and making three birdies. I had other chances, missed a putt on the 7th hole, but then I made four birdies in a row. I made a small mistake on the 15th hole, which cost me a double bogey, but then on the par-5 17th, after a great drive, I hit a 5-iron to two meters from the pin for an eagle.

Rocco Repetto, who started from the 10th hole, shares second place after an afternoon round with windy conditions in which he recorded 7 birdies, an eagle, and a bogey. Repetto, 22, is a young professional Spanish golfer from Málaga, Andalusia. He turned pro just a few weeks before winning his first professional tournament in 2024:

It was really tough from the start, the wind kept changing. I stayed patient, hit the right shots, and made good putts. They just went in. I don’t think I missed many shots today. I’m very happy. I made an eagle on the 7th hole, my 16th, right after a three-putt. I really wanted to score well on that hole.

Mario Galiano Aguilar is one of four players sharing third place. The Spaniard, who already claimed victory on the Alps Tour in 2024 at the Hauts de France-Pas de Calais Golf Open, set the course record last year on the B&C course of the Sokhna Golf Club at the 2024 Red Sea Little Venice Open with a score of 62 (-10).

I had a great feeling today! I played really well from the tee, hit many greens, and created a lot of birdie opportunities. On the back nine, I made five birdies. My game feels strong right now, and I’m very confident. I’ll give my best effort tomorrow. The conditions were excellent in the morning and the wind was calmer compared to the afternoon. Hopefully, tomorrow afternoon will be similar.

Tied for 3rd place at 7-under par, with Galiano, are Michael Hay from England, Spaniard Jose Luis Adarraga Gomez, and Luca Galliano from Switzerland. Defending champion Aymeric Laussot from France is currently in 40th place.

The 120 players are competing for an overall prize fund of €42.500 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The winner of the 2025 Ein Bay Open will earn €6,200 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.
