Tunisia Strengthens Its Commitments with the Alps Tour
Tunis, February 5th, 2025 – The collaboration between the Alps Tour and the Tunisian National Tourism Office (ONTT) proved to be highly successful last year, when the Tunisian Open was introduced again in the tournaments schedule after an eight-years hiatus. As a result, it was decided not only to continue this partnership but to double the dates on the 2025 Alps Tour calendar.
In March 2025, therefore, Tunisia is scheduled to host two prestigious Alps Tour events. The first, the Tunisian Golf Open, will take place from March 20-22 and will be a 54-hole stroke-play tournament. The second event, La Cigale Golf Open, following the same format, will occur from March 25-27.
This upgrading is part of the three-year partnership agreement signed in 2024 by the Alps Tour Chief Executive and Operations Director, Ms. Estelle Richard, with Mr. Hassine Helmi, General Director of the Tunisian National Tourism Office (ONTT).
The “Tunisian Swing” was officially announced yesterday during a press conference in Tunis. The event featured Mr. Helmi, Director of ONTT, Mr. Mohamed Aziz Fetni, Vice President of the Tunisian Golf Federation, Mr. Mehdi Belkhodja, General Manager of The Residence Tunis, Mr. Rafik Garrach, Commercial Director of La Cigale Tabarka, and Ms. Estelle Richard, Alps Tour Chief Executive & Operations Director.

The ONTT aims to promote all Tunisian golf courses and introduce them to golfers of various nationalities. This year, the Tunisian Golf Open will be held at The Residence Golf Course in Tunis.
In 2024, the event was played in April at La Cigale Tabarka Golf in Tabarka, with a field of 122 players coming from 18 different countries, and was won by Italian Gianmaria Rean Trinchero with a total of 10-under par.
This year, the spotlight will be on the magnificent The Residence Tunis, a 5-star resort situated in Gammarth overlooking the Gulf of Tunis, 15 km from Tunis-Carthage International Airport and 5 km from both Carthage and Sidi Bou Said.
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr, the 18-hole Residence Golf Course is a veritable jewel set between the sea and a salt lake, at the heart of a nature reserve where migrating birds and wildlife abound. Particular attention has been paid to the layout of the course in order to respect the natural landscape, creating not only one of the most beautiful golf courses in the Mediterranean, but also one of the most environmentally friendly.
The second tournament of this “Tunisian Swing”, La Cigale Golf Open, will be hosted by La Cigale Tabarka, venue of the 2024 Tunisian Open.
The Tunisian Swing will see 132 players competing over 54 holes for each tournament. The stakes are high, with a cut after 36 holes and a sudden-death playoff in case of a tie after 54 holes. The Rising Stars of the Alps Tour will battle for a prize fund of €45,000 and 45,000 Order of Merit points for each tournament, with each winner walking away with €6,525.00 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.
M.me Estelle Richard, Alps Tour Chief Executive & Operations Director, commented:
We’re delighted to continue our cooperation with the ONTT and the venues involved, to help promote Tunisia’s tourism, sporting, and cultural attractions. This allows the Alps Tour to keep growing, giving more opportunities to our young, talented golfers worldwide to compete and try to reach the next level of professional golf.” Since 2001, the tour has expanded, visiting more countries also across the Mediterranean Sea, allowing more players the opportunity to compete. Mme Richard added: “We’ll also have the pleasure to welcome again Tunisian and Arab players and offer them an opportunity to play with professionals and get more experience.
Tunisia offers a captivating blend of quality golf destinations, history, luxury, and unrivaled experiences. The town of Tabarka is a coastal town in the Northwest of Tunisia, close to the border of Algeria. It is set between the sea and the mountains and is dominated by an offshore rock where the remains of a castle are found. Tabarka is known for its coral fishing, a world-renowned golf course, La Cigale Tabarka Golf, and an underwater photography festival.
The “Tunisian Swing” will be supported by the following institutional sponsors: the Tunisian National Tourism Office (ONTT), The Residence Tunis, La Cigale Tabarka Hôtel-Thalasso-Golf.
