Alexandre Vandermoten takes commanding lead at the Longwy Alps Open

Longwy, France, September 4th, 2026 – Alexandre Vandermoten is now just 18 holes away from securing promotion to the HotelPlanner Tour. The Frenchman carded a second consecutive 65 (-7) at UGolf Longwy International on Friday, featuring eight birdies and just one bogey. A victory in Longwy on Saturday, which would be his third of the season, would see him earn direct promotion to the HotelPlanner Tour.

The 26-year-old has opened up a significant lead over the field. Spain’s Alberto Dominguez moved into second place with a 67 (-5), but remains five shots behind the leader. Ireland’s Sam Murphy, Spain’s Alejandro Rodriguez Andreu and Italy’s Manfredi Manica are a further shot back in a share of third place at -6.

Another notable performance came from Cameroonian para golfer Issa Nlareb A Amang, who made the cut for the first time in his European career.

The final round will begin at 8.40 a.m. local time, with players teeing off from the 1st tee. The winner will receive €7,820 and 6,525 Order of Merit points. In the event of a tie, a playoff will determine the champion.

Alexandre Vandermoten: “I felt a bit of pressure because you always have to put yourself in the game, but honestly, my goal this week is really to take as many points as possible. I’m playing good golf, I’m striking the ball well, especially my irons, and I’m putting well. So I’m not really surprised to be where I am. I’m just doing the right things, staying calm and keeping a clear mind. I’m focusing on the present, one shot at a time.

“I’m not really thinking about the third win. Of course, I know I’m leading, but for me the most important thing is taking points. The work I did in August was really focused on these next four tournaments, to earn points and get promoted to the HotelPlanner Tour next year. I’ve put myself in a good position to score as many points as possible, so I’m going to give it everything I have to get as many as I can.”

Alberto Dominguez : “Honestly, today’s round was good. I’m coming back from an injury, so the first few holes are always difficult as I need to get my right forearm warmed up. I told myself to start calmly, not to rush and to take it shot by shot because the course is very narrow and demands a lot from you.

“What worked well was being patient and keeping a cool head. The birdies would come. The key was keeping the ball in play from the tee and then taking advantage of the opportunities. With the difficult windy conditions, my short game was also very good and saved me several times. Overall, I kept a cool head, made smart decisions and played with what I had. My short game was always there when I needed it.”
