Spanish duo to lead on home soil
A Spanish duo lead the Alps de AndAlucia going into final round. Challenge Tour player Borja Etchart and fellow Toni Ferrer respectively shot 66 and 68 to lead by 2 shots with -8 over three players, France’s Léo Lespinasse and Amaury Rosaye and England’s Josh Loughrey.
Etchart was a member of the Alps Tour in 2014 and got his card for the upper circuit. He decided to play on home soil this week to catch up with his confidence. And it works. He signed for the best score of the day, 66, -6 on the long Novo Sancti Petri golf course.
On his toes, young fellow countryman, Toni Ferrer who is currently 10th at the Alps Tour ranking. A win would make him jump on the right side of the line.
The duo will have to battle against a group of three players only two shots back. Josh Loughrey has won this season in Tunisia, he knows how to build a victory. Léo Lespinasse had many podium results but he is missing to climb on the first step. It could be his week and Rosaye, not used to be in contention could be the surprise of the week-end.
