Smoking banned on Alps Tour events

The Alps Tour is proud to announce that its Committee has taken a courageous decision to uphold the reputation of the game of golf and the Alps Tour and in order of taking care of the health of its young members. Golf will be an Olympic sport soon and Alps Tour wants to become a role model.

For the first time on a professional circuit in the world: smoking or chewing tobacco will not be allowed during any kind of play of Alps Tour tournaments for players and caddies.

Dedicated smoking areas will be created near practice areas to avoid seeing players with cigarettes on chipping green, driving range or putting green.

This new regulation will come to be effect in 2012 and breach of this rule will be fined.
