Rising golf stars head to Guadeloupe

As soon as the 2018 Gösser Open in Austria ended on Saturday, rising golf stars of the Alps Tour packed their bags for a long trip, heading to the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe for the 8th edition of the Open de Saint-François Région Guadeloupe which starts on Thursday May 31st.

111 players are scheduled to gather at the Golf International de Saint-François through June 2nd.

Spain’s David Borda, leader of the Alps Tour’s Order of Merit, is participating in this year’s edition. The winner of last Saturday’s Gösser Open, Santiago Tarrio (ESP), did not have much time to celebrate and travelled to the French Caribbean as well.

Defending champion Thomas Elissalde (FRA) and past winner Leo Lespinasse (FRA, 2016) are also playing this year in Guadeloupe.

The €43,000 prize money tournament is played over 54 holes of traditional stroke. Following a cut after 36 holes, the top 40 and ties will qualify for the final title day of the tournament.

The Golf International de Saint-François features a 18 holes, par 71 Golf Course with a total length of 5 990 meters. It was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr, a pioneer in golf course architecture.
