Half-way lead for Borda and Marty

Spain’s David Borda and France’s Fabien Marty took the lead half-way tournament in Brittany in Saint Malo Golf Open. Both players signed for course record 64 for a two stroke advantage over a group of 4 players. Marty, who had a great week on Challenge Tour in Saint Omer, confirmed his golf has been solid for a moment.

« I have been playing for a while, today I could start better as I had birdie-eagle-birdie. Obvioulsy it gives you a good pace. Everything went together so yes I can say I am in good form.
We always play to win, if a player says he doesn’t want to win when he enters a tournament, he’d better stay at home. It’s been 12 years I turned pro and I only won once and I finished first pro last year in France so not all of us got the chances to lift a trophy each year.
I really think my experience can help knowing what not to do. But it is never easy to do what you have to do to win. »

David Borda, 30, had the perfect round, 6 birdies, one eagle and no dropped shot.

«To be honnest, it was the greatest day of golf of my all pro career. I think it’s the course record so it is really good. We all want to win but it’s only half-way tournament. There are plenty of goood players chasing me so I have to keep the same rythm. I won’t change my strategy ; I will keep being aggressive as I was during first two rounds. »

Chasing the leaders, French young amateur, Thomas Boulanger, 17, who confessed he was leaving a dream to play so well, fellow countryman, Alex Daydou, Spain’s Jesus Legarrea and Belgium Kevin Hesbois.

The cut felt at -3, 45 players.
