Evans keeps lead in Sardinia

England’s Ben Evans managed to take lead at the very end of the day. He scored brilliant 66 to reach -13 total in Sardegna Is Molas Open 2013. He is looking forward to stop his fellow Jason Palmer from grabbing fourth win. Jaime Carmago tied for second place with Palmer and will chase the Englishmen and try to win his maiden title on the Alps Tour.

Evans is currently 7^th at Alps Tour ranking and a win would definitely make him enter the top 5. His game is sharp and despite being a little sick he shot 66.

“ I haven’t been very well last afternoon and last night, today I was not feeling 100% but I just played sensibly, I holed a few putts round the turn, I birdied 16, 17, 18 ans I eagle the first.”

“If I play tomorrow the way I played, I have a good chance to stop Jason. He is definitely the man to beat, it is going to be interesting! But we don’t know yet if we are going to play 2 or 3 balls…”

Palmer had kind of same momentum during his round and secure a solid six-under-par card as well.
“Some pins positions were very accessible and some were on the top of edges, very difficult to get close. I started very slow at first, almost a little bit frustrated cause I pared the first six holes on the back nine which I think is the easier nine and I birdied 16 and then 17 and I eagled the first and then birdied the second, that was where I made the score and the rest of it was pretty solid.”

“My driving was not as accurate than yesterday, I hit every fairways yesterday and I missed a few today and it is tricky when you miss the fairway because you totally loose control of the ball, you are not sure how it’s going to fly and you can’t spin it from the rough.”

Italian Joon Kim will try to disturb English plan as well as Camargo’s one. Kim had a tough season and he confessed his mental was the weak link of his game. Kim signed for 66 to be -11 total.

“It’s cool to be in contention because this year I am not playing well. I don’t have many expectation for this tournament. I am trying to work on my mental. The swing has not change from last year, but my mental changed. I have to work on it because I will attend to the Q School for the Korean Tour with the Asian Tour as a target as well. I preparing for that.”
