Alexandre Vandermoten claims back-to-back victory in dramatic playoff

Saint-Omer, France, September 12th, 2026 – Alexandre Vandermoten was once again unstoppable at the 2026 Hauts de France–Pas de Calais Open. Fresh from his victory at last week’s Longwy Alps Open, the 26-year-old Frenchman claimed his fourth victory of the season on Saturday in northern France.

Starting the final round with a two-shot lead, Vandermoten once again produced a very solid performance in windy conditions. However, when it came time to close out the tournament, the Montpellier-based player stumbled on the difficult 18th green, dropping a bogey, his second of the back nine.

Starting the day two shots behind the leader, Ireland’s Hugh Foley put pressure on Vandermoten all the way to the finish. His birdie on the 17th brought him right back into contention, before he showed great composure to save par on the 18th and force a playoff.

But Vandermoten made the difference immediately, producing a birdie on the first extra hole to secure the title.

Italy’s Alessandro Nodari, who carded a strong 68 (-3), climbed to third place alongside Spain’s Victor Garcia Broto, three shots behind the winner. France’s Paul Franquet and Arthur Ameil-Planchin shared fifth place.

On the LET Access Series side, victory also went to a French player, with Lucie Malchirand winning by five shots from Switzerland’s Natalie Armbruster.

With the victory, Vandermoten earns €7,680 and 6,525 Order of Merit points, moving to the top of the Order of Merit, ahead of Italy’s Andrea Romano and France’s Maxime Legros. Thanks to his Top 5 finish this week, Paul Franquet climbed to fourth, ahead of Spaniards Mario Galiano Aguilar in fifth, Pablo Alperi Lopez in sixth and Victor Garcia Broto in seventh.

The race for qualification to the 2026 Hulencourt Alps Tour Grand Final and promotion to the HotelPlanner Tour will resume on Wednesday 7th at Golf Club La Pinetina for the Memorial Giorgio Bordoni.

Alexandre Vandermoten : “My putting was once again totally up to the task. I saved a lot of pars. It was a little more complicated with my game, and I had a lot of thoughts going through my head. I doubted myself at times, especially because Hugh Foley was playing so well.

“It’s a back-to-back, which is a great achievement. Everyone tells me that I’m playing really well, but it’s something that is very difficult to achieve. Winning three times is one thing, but going back-to-back is never easy.”
