Augutin Holé takes one-shot lead into the final round of the Biarritz Cup by ARKEA

Biarritz, July 25, 2026 – Challenging weather conditions played a major role during the second round of the Biarritz Cup by ARKEA. Strong winds tested the field throughout the day before a thunderstorm suspended play for nearly two hours during the afternoon.

Playing in the morning wave, Augustin Holé mastered the difficult conditions to post a solid 2-under-par 67, despite making three bogeys. The member of Golf de Biarritz Le Phare moved into the outright lead at 8-under par.

Backed by the home crowd, Holé will take a one-shot advantage into Sunday’s final round over fellow Frenchman Théo Brizard, who climbed into second place after carding an impressive 3-under-par 66. Overnight leader Romain Buttarazzi battled to a 2-over-par 71 and shares third place with Spain’s Jorge Maicas, the co-holder of the course record.

The final round will begin at 10:00 a.m. from the 1st tee. At the conclusion of the tournament, the winner will receive €8,100 and 6,525 Order of Merit points. In the event of a tie, the title will be decided by a sudden-death playoff.

Round 2 Player Quote

Augustin Holé : “It was a real battle today. From the very first hole, my caddie Franck Médale and I knew it was going to be extremely difficult. Our strategy was simple: hit as many greens as possible and leave ourselves the shortest putts we could because, with the wind, every putt was moving. I think we did a very good job sticking to our game plan. I never tried to force things, and a couple of good putts made the difference.

Yesterday’s round was already a good performance, but today’s was just as satisfying even though it’s four shots higher. That’s golf—weather conditions can completely change how a round plays. The greens are also getting firmer, making it very difficult to stop wedge shots. I enjoy playing in these conditions because I like to hit lower ball flights. It’s a great challenge, and I’d be happy if we get the same conditions tomorrow.”

Tomorrow will be special. There will be plenty of spectators, and my family will be here too. I’ll definitely feel the excitement, but I’ll have to embrace it, settle myself and enjoy the moment. I’m chasing a victory, and winning the Biarritz Cup here at home would make it even more meaningful. It’s a tournament that means a lot to me and one I’ve never won. But there are still 18 holes to play.”
