The Alps Tour Moves to France for the Second Edition of the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open.

Lacanau-Océan, May 20th, 2025– The Alps Tour season continues this week with another back-to-back event, as we head to France for the 8th tournament of the season, the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open. The event will be contested from May 22nd to May 24th, at UGolf Lacanau, located in Lacanau-Océan, France.

This will be the second edition of the Lacanau Alps Open and the second time UGolf Lacanau hosts a professional golf tournament. Building on the success of its debut in 2024, the event is quickly becoming a fixture on the Alps Tourcalendar and a highlight for the season.

The tournament week begins on Wednesday, May 21st, with the traditional Alps Tour Tour Scramble Pro-Am, featuring a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. local time. Approximately 18 teams are expected to participate in the event.

The Field

All seven winners from this season are set to headline a strong 144-player field competing for the title at this week’s 2025 Lacanau Alps Open. The field includes, Switzerland’s Luca Galliano, winner of the 2025 Ein Bay Open, and Spain’s Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela, a two-time champion so far this season with victories at the 2025 Red Sea Little Venice Open and the 2025 Tunisian Golf Open. Fellow Spaniard Javier Barcos, who claimed the 2025 New Giza Open, will also be in action, along with compatriots Rocco Repetto, winner of the 2025 La Cigale Golf Open by Alps Tour, and Asier Aguirre Izcue, who secured the 2025 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON. Rounding out the list of champions is Jorge Maicas, fresh off his win at last week’s 2025 Gösser Open.

In addition to the season’s winners, all the players currently ranked inside the top 10 of the Alps Tour Order of Meritstandings will also tee it up this week, promising a highly competitive event.

France’s Antoine Auboin, who captured the inaugural title during last year’s edition, will also be in the field as he looks to successfully defend his title.

This week’s 144-player field features representation from 18 countries around the world: Andorra, Argentina, Austria, Cameroon, England, Spain, Estonia, France, Ireland, Italy, Jersey, Morocco, Monaco, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the United States, Venezuela, and Wales.

Players will compete for a total prize fund of €47,500 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The winner of the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open will take home €6,900 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.

The tournament will be contested as a 54-hole stroke-play event, with a cut made after 36 holes to the top 40 professional players and ties, plus any amateurs who fall within the cut line. In the event of a tie after 54 holes, a sudden-death playoff will determine the champion.

The Course

The 2025 Lacanau Alps Open will take place at Lacanau Golf Club, located in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, approximately 55 kilometers west of Bordeaux. Nestled in the heart of a national forest, between the lake and the Atlantic Ocean, the course offers a serene and scenic setting that provides players and spectators with a true escape into nature.

The club’s signature 18-hole Ardilouse course was designed by John Harris and opened in 1980. Built on natural dunes, the course winds through towering pine trees, with star-shaped fairways radiating from the central Club House and on-site hotel. Its diverse hole layouts and strategic design have earned the course a well-deserved international reputation.

Lacanau Golf Club is known for its unique architectural variety, appealing to both amateur and professional players. Thanks to its preserved natural surroundings and mild coastal climate, the course remains playable and enjoyable throughout the year.
