On top of his win, he made a major move in the Order of Merit rankings, jumping 50 positions to 9th place. “I’m extremely proud of myself right now, I’m overwhelmed with emotions. The last few years have been really tough, but I’m so proud of the work I’ve done with my team to keep pushing forward and never give up. Today was a real battle, but I focused on staying calm and giving 100% to my game. I didn’t look at a leaderboard all day — I just wanted to stick to my strategy and focus on my own performance without being distracted by what others were doing. Like yesterday, I stayed patient on the greens, which was key on a course like this,” said Maicas after he secured the title. “This win is for my family, especially my mom — she’s always there encouraging me to keep going. It’s also for my team and friends, who have supported me from day one. I couldn’t have done it without them. I’ll celebrate now, it’s been a dream for a long time, but on Monday I’ll head to Lacanau for our next event. I’ll try to carry the same momentum and mindset into the week. I want to stay focused, stay calm, and hopefully have another strong performance.” Maicas added as he is enjoying the moment but looking ahead to next week.
