Final Round Player Quotes

Asier Aguirre Izcue, 25, from Spain, wins his 1st Alps Tour title at the 2025 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON. He moved in the lead after yesterday’s round 2 and today he shot a even par, 70 to conclude the tournament with a three-day total of 14 under-par. In today’s final round, he made 2 birdies and 2 bogeys.  He is consistent performer on the Alps Tour, having collected multiple top 10 finishes in recent seasons, including a T2 here at GC La Pinetina in 2023. “I’m extremely happy, this is my first win on the Alps Tour, it’s always a pleasure. Before the delay, I was hitting the ball worse than the first two rounds and I had many birdie chances I couldn’t convert. During the delay I went to the range and did some exercises which allowed mem to bring a good feeling into the back nine. On the back nine, I hit the ball much better with my irons and was able to convert a couple of birdies and capture the win,” explained Aguirre Izcue. “This win is for my dad, who passed away 5 years ago and he’s always in my mind. Of course, my sponsors who are part of the family and is also here with me this week. My mom that has been there supporting me my entire life and my friends that have been by my side helping and supporting me,” he added. “I played very well last year, I’m playing well and obviously a win is on my mind, but I will just play my game, and we will see what happens. I have good memories of next week’s venue,” commentedAguirre Izcue as the Alps Tour heads to Austria for next week’s event, where he lost in a sudden-death playoff in 2024. With this victory, Spanish players have now recorded five wins this season.
