Maiden win for Evans

England’s Ben Evans won maiden title with a two shot margin over fellow Jason Palmer. With this win, Evans enters Top 3 of Alps Tour ranking.
The question was as last round started, – Does anyone can stop Jason Palmer this year?-. Palmer was once again in the mix for chasing a fourth win. But his compatriot, Ben Evans, 7th at the Alps Tour ranking managed to signed for a very solid 68 card, enough to keep both hands on the Sardegna Is Molas Open trophy.
« Strange, I started with a bogey on the second hole, then I hit some really good shots and holed two putts on the 3rd and 4th hole which settle me down really, then I missed a few. I had a nice birdie on the ninth. On the 10 -He dropped 2 shots- , I was in between clubs and try to hit chippy a five iron and I pushed it away right into the water which obviously wasn’t very good. I made a nice par on the 11th and I came back with an eagle on the 12th, that kind of settle me down again. »
« I just played solid really all week. I only knew about the leaderboard on the 17th, Matt Wallace came and told me Palmer was 3 behind I think. But I didn’t really know until the end which is nice. »
The 5800 €/points earned with this win made him climb until the 3rd rank of the Alps Tour Order of merit.
« It is nice to enter the top 5, that was the goal. I played well this year, just I haven’t got a win. This week, everything came together. I missed 4 events at the start of the year which kind of putt me behind. »
« If I keep playing the way I am playing, somewher, well, I am playing less agressive that I ever have I am sure that made the scores. »
Jaime Camargo, despite amazing putting, struggled to much with his long to be a real threat for Evans. He finished third by his own. The best score of the day, 64, was carded by Wales Rhys Enoch which made him share 4th place with Austrian Lukas Nemecz and Italy’s Andrea Bolognesi.
