Luca Galliano and Luca Memeo are in a share of the lead at the 2024 Longwy Alps Open.
The players competing in today’s round 2 of the inaugural 2024 Longwy Alps Open faced a mix of weather conditions, ranging from overcast skies, some light winds, some light rains, some sunshine, and a chillier temperature than yesterday’s first round. Play began this morning at 8:00 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole. This is the inaugural year of the 2024 Longwy Alps Open.

Luca Galliano from Switzerland is in a two-way tie for the lead after two rounds at the 2024 Longwy Alps Open. He shot a 4 under-par 68 in today’s round 2, making 6 birdies and 2 bogeys for a two-day total of 10 under-par. After today’s round, Galliano talked about how today: “The course played quite tough, it was wet, and the pins were trickier than yesterday’s first round. Also, the weather changed as the temperature dropped quite a bit compared to yesterday as well as the pro-am.” He added that he is grateful for his: “my long game as it’s been very good lately, my tee to green has been working well I must say so it’s rewarding. I need to work a bit more on improving my putting, but overall, I’m happy.” For tomorrow’s final round, Galliano plans on: “staying in the present and keep doing what I’ve been doing so far as it seems to be working pretty well. I think the winning score will be around 14 or 15 under-par. Tonight, I’m going to relax with my friends and play some card games to get ready for tomorrow.”
Italian amateur, Luca Memeo, 19, who was tied for 2nd place after yesterday’s opening round, moves into the two-way tie for the lead alongside Galliano with a two-day total of 10 under-par. He shot a 4 under-par, 68 in today’s round 2 making 1 bogey and 5 birdies which 2 were in the last two holes. Once Memeo completed his second round, he was pleased as: “It seems like I was able to me in the more favorable draw with the weather as we even had some sun come out this afternoon. The course was softer, and the greens had slightly more spin, and I was able to adapt well.” He is tied for the lead heading into tomorrow’s final round. He plans on: “keep doing the same thing, try to hit as many fairways as possible which will allow me to have shorter irons into the greens. I plan on turning pro within the calendar year so I’m looking forward to the rest of the tournaments.” He added that: “I stayed very patient throughout the entire round even if I missed some shots and some putts and I believe that was key for me. That’s something I will take with me for tomorrow.”

Italy’s Federico Livio, 26, moves into a three-way tie for 3rd place after round 2 of the inaugural 2024 Longwy Alps Open. He was tied for 10th place at 5 under-par after the first round of the tournament and today shot a 4 under-par, 68 with 1 eagle, 5 birdies and 1 triple bogey to move into the three-way tie for 3rd place with a two-day total of 9 under-par. After his round, he commented: “My game was very good today overall even though I, unfortunately, began my round under a good rain shower, so it was hard to get the momentum going. I made an unfortunate triple bogey on the 5th hole but luckily got it back immediately with an eagle and 2 birdies. Tomorrow, I will try to do my best and see what happens. The course today, especially this morning, was quite wet, but overall, the greens are good, and the conditions allow us to perform well. I want to keep playing like I did today for tomorrow’s round and try to hole in some more putts.”
Benjamin Kedochim, 29, from France, who is the current Order of Merit Leader, concludes round 2 of the 2024 Longwy Alps Open with a two-day of 9 under-par and finds himself in the three-way tie for 3rd place alongside Livio. In today’s round, he shot a 2 under-par, 70 making a 1 triple bogey on the first hole and then made 3 birdies and 1 eagle on the remaining 17 holes. Kedochim explained today: “I had a rough start; I think my nerves played a big part. I had a situation on the first hole and that made my heart go up a bit. I missed my iron shot into the bunker, and with the rain coming today, I hit another bad shot, which cost me a triple bogey. Once I was able to get over the first hole, I told myself I was going to start playing again, and I had a birdie chance on the 2nd to get things going again. I’m very pleased, especially how I was able to fight back and have a strong finish.” He added that he found the course this morning definitely: “softer due to the overnight rain as well as this morning, but the pin positions were tougher, certain were right in the corners and that made it more complicated.” Kedochim added that he learned a valuable lesson from today’s Round 2: “I know that even making a triple bogey, I can be close to the lead, so I will keep doing the same things and hope for a positive result tomorrow.”
Alongside Livio and Kedochim in the three-way tie for 3rd place with a two-day total of 9 under-par, Ireland’s Paul McBride.
The highlight of the day belongs to Italy’s Andrea Romano and France’s Adrien Bonnet, who shot an 8 under-par, 64 in today’s round to hold the new course record at UGolf Longwy International.
Final Round
A total of 47 players made the cut, which was set at -2.
The Final Round of the 2024 Longwy Alps Open will begin at 8:40 a.m. local time from the 1st hole. The Final Pairing will tee off at 11:25 a.m. local time from the 1st hole. In case of a tie after 54 holes, a sudden-death play-off will determine the winner of the inaugural 2024 Longwy Alps Open.
The 2024 Longwy Alps Open Winner will walk away with €6,525.00 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.
