Kim leader, Fendt on his toes
Play has been suspended for the day as the darkness felt on Golf Club de Pont-Royal. Although the wind disturbed most of the players, Italy’s Joon Kim managed his first round with confidence. He is the club house leader with a five-under-par card.
“I am used to this golf course as it is my fourth venue here. There is always some wind but I know how to deal with.”
Kim just had a great week in Sardinia where he was in contention during last round and grabbed a Top 10. He gained some confidence out of this result and he is in a good mood to try the Q School of Korean Tour.
Austrian Philip Fendt still have to complete his round but he was -6 when the referees suspended the game. Fendt, 23 year old, won the Austrian PGA Championship this year just after recoring from injury when he has to rest during 2 months -this summer- without hitting a ball.
The Ballesteros course has been cruel with 2 former French winners. Jean-François Remésy and Dominique Nouailhac signed for 77, 5 over par and are in danger not to play this week-end.
Compatriot Edouard Espana, did great today with a 69 to tie third place as he needs a very good result this week to re-enter the Alps Tour ranking top 5. Last week, he felt at 6th place, the worst ever.
