Round 1 Player Quotes-

Ireland’s Jonathan Yates who was in a tie for 2nd place at the conclusion of yesterday’s 1st round, finds himself in the lead after today’s round. He followed his opening round of 5 under-par, with a 6 under-par in the second round for a two-day total of 11 under-par. For the second day in a row, Jonathan had a strong finish with a birdie on 17 and 18 to conclude his round. When asked to comment on his strong finish again today, he said: “I hit it stiff on 17 again today with a great shot to about 2 ft. On 18 I played it as a 3 shot hole and hit a wedge shot stiff. I’m very happy again.” Jonathan commented today’s round with the following: “Today was different than yesterday, my game wasn’t as good, it wasn’t as solid but my iron play was fantastic. Today was a fun day. I believe playing later in the day, the ball goes a lot further than earlier in the morning so maybe it plays slightly shorter but it definitely gets firm and fast. The greens are really good and rolling well as well.”

Italy’s Stefano Mazzoli, winner of the first event of the season at the 2022 Ein Bay Open shot an incredible 9 under-par round today for a two-day total of 8 under-par and be in 2nd place only 3 strokes off the lead entering tomorrow’s final round. He made 5 birdies and 1 eagle on the front nine and 1 bogey and 3 birdies on the back nine. At the end of his round, Stefano commented: “Today I wanted to come out and have a good round especially after yesterday’s round where I struggled a lot. Today I holed a lot of putts right away and get off to a good start and then I was able to stay calm on the back nine. I made 29 on the front nine making two very good birdies on 8 and 9 which gave me good momentum.”
