The Alps Tour remains in Spain for the 2024 Alps de Las Castillas.
Llerma, July 9th, 2024- The 2024 Alps Tour season continues in Spain as the 12th event of the season, the Alps de Las Castillas, gets underway on Thursday. The 144 players in the field will compete for the title from July 11th until July 13th at Golf de Lerma in Llerma, Burgos. The 2024 Alps de Las Castillas will be back at Golf de Lerma, eight years after the fabulous 2016 edition that was disputed at this week’s venue.
The official Tour Scramble, with the best two balls pro-am, will take place on July 10th. Thirty teams will participate.
The players are competing to earn a spot in the top 5 Order of Merit rank, which, at the end of the season, will give them access to the 2025 Challenge Tour. The countdown has already begun, and the fight for the top 5 places is more fought than ever this week, as there are only a handful of events left before the 2024 Alps Tour Grand Final.
The Field
A strong field is expected this week for the 2024 Alps de Las Castillas.
Our current Order of Merit leader, France’s Benjamin Kedochim, has yet to win this season. He has earned six top 10s that include two 2nd place finishes as well as two 3rd place finishes. He will be present in this week’s field as he is looking to earn his first title to consolidate his leadership.
This week’s tournament, the 2024 Alps de Las Castillas, could be a decisive week for the winners of our last tournaments, respectfully our two, two-time season winners, Brandon Kewalramani from the United States and France’s Théo Boulet. Both players earned 2 wins respectfully, and capturing a third one, would allow them to earn immediate category on the Challenge Tour without having to capture one of the 5 coveted cards that is up for grabs at the end of the season.
All of this season’s winners will be present this week except for Spanish amateur Jose Antonio Sintes Navarro, winner of the 2024 Red Sea Little Venice Open, and France’s Antoine Auboin, winner of the 2024 Lacanau Alps Open.
Notable players have previously won the Alps de Las Castillas, including Victor Perez in 2016. He is now a DP World Tour winner.
The 144 players scheduled to compete this week represent 14 different nationalities.
The players in the field will compete for a prize fund of €40,000 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The 2024 Alps de Andalucía winner will receive €5,800.00 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.
The 2024 Alps de Andalucía will be a 54-hole stroke-play, an 18-hole-a-day event where a cut will be made after 36 holes to the top 40 players and ties. In case of a tie after 54 holes, a sudden-death play-off will determine the winner.

The Course
Golf de Lerma, located about 200 km north of the city of Madrid, was built in 1992 on a former hunting estate of 220 hectares named The Andaya by Spanish architect José Gancedo. Having worked his considerable golfing magic on other courses like Costa Dorada in 1982, Canyamel in 1987, and Monte Mayor in 1989, he completed the design of the charming Lerma layout in 1992.
The Golf de Lerma combines within its 18 holes the grand simplicity of the Castilian nature and the fun complexity of the game of golf. The architect made good use of the natural terrain to design 18 holes in total sympathy with its surroundings. The fairways are wide, bunkers are intelligently positioned, and greens are sensibly proportioned with relatively flat putting surfaces.
This parkland course is sheltered on many holes as it is bounded by a forest to the north and south of the property. However, water plays a part on the front nine, with ponds between the fairways on holes 2 and 8 and in front of the greens on holes 7 and 9. On the back nine, a stream meanders across the 10th, 11th, and 15th fairways before it forms a pond that must be carried in front of the short par four, 18th hole, which is a great closing hole.

Théo Boulet wins his second tournament of the season at the 2024 Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand
Aravell, June 29th, 2024- France’s Théo Boulet wins back-to-back with this week’s title at the 2024 Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand. Benjamin Kedochim from France concluded the tournament in 2nd place with a three-day score of 13 under-par. Tied for 3rd place at 11 under-par Italy’s Edoard Giletta and France’s Paul Margolis.
This year we celebrated the 3rd edition of the tournament, which was established to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the host golf club, Aravell Golf & Country Club.
The Final Round of the 2024 Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand, played at Aravell Golf & Country Club, which is located near Aravell, Lleida, Spain, began from holes 1 and 10 at 8:00 a.m. local time. At 8:29 a.m. local time, play was suspended due to thunderstorms in the area. The tournament director, Mr. Alessandro Pia, resumed play at 10:15 a.m. after a 1 hour and 46 minutes delay. Unfortunately, at 10:41 a.m. local time, play had to be suspended again as there was more lightning in the area. At 12:45 p.m., after a 2 hour and 4 minutes delay, the final round resumed, and players were able to complete their last round.

France’s Théo Boulet, 21, captures his second professional win in back-to-back events during this week’s 2024 Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand. He shot a final round of 4 under-par,67, making 3 birdies and 1 bogey on the front nine holes, and then he made 2 more birdies on the back nine. Boulet earned his 1st professional win at the 2024 Open International de la Mirabelle d’Or. After his win, Boulet was ecstatic: “It’s unbelievable, to be able to win back-to-back events, it’s amazing. You know, it’s always been the goal to be able to win, but to be able to win 2 events in a row is something very rare. It doesn’t happen often on a professional level. I’m very happy, it shows that the work I’m doing is paying off.” It was a long day for the players competing during the final round due to the weather delays, and he explained how: “During the delay, I played cards with my friends and had a good laugh with them. However, as soon as we were told that we would be restarting, I returned to my bubble and focused on having a good warm-up and round. Now that I think about it, I think that the delay allowed me to think about something else and take some of the stress away.” Now that he’s won two events, Boulet said, “Nothing is going to change. I’m going to keep working like I’ve been doing, and hopefully, the season will continue on a positive note. Obviously, the ultimate goal remains the same, which is to move up to the Challenge Tour, and winning two tournaments puts me in a good position, however, the season isn’t over, so I must keep focused.” Boulet takes away a valuable lesson from this week’s tournament, “even though I didn’t hit it great, I learned to play with what I had. It was a big mental improvement for me. This win is for everyone around me, my sponsors who support me as none of this would be possible without them, my coaches for all the work we’ve doing, my family and my parents who support me from far as they cannot travel with me as they work. Now I will enjoy this win and then focus on the next tournament.”
Benjamin Kedochim, 29, from France, concluded the tournament in 2nd place with a three-day total of 13 under-par. He shot a final round of 4 under-par, 67 making 2 eagles, 3 birdies and 3 bogeys. The tournament ends with a two-way tie for 3rd place with a total score of 11 under par Italy’s Edoardo Giletta and France’s Paul Margolis.
The highlight of the day belongs to Spain’s Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela, who made a fabulous hole-in-one on the par 3, 17th hole from 146 meters with a 50° wedge.
After the 2024 Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand, the 10th tournament of the season, France’s Benjamin Kedochim remains the Alps Tour Order of Merit rank leader. This week’s winner, Théo Boulet from France, moves into 2nd place, and Italy’s Edoardo R Lipparelli is now in 3rd place. Enrico Di Nitto from Italy stays in 4th place and France’s Aymeric Laussot moved into 5th place.

Théo Boulet moves into the lead after Round 2 at the 2024 Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand
- Aravell, June 28th, 2024- After two rounds of the 2024 Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand, which is currently being played at the beautiful Aravell Golf & Country Club, we have a very close leaderboard. France’s Théo Boulet leads with a two-day score of 11 under-par after a fabulous 7 under-par in round 2. France’s Benjamin Kedochim is in 2nd place with a total score of 9 under-par. France’s Paul Margolis and Spain’s Ruben Lafuente Montesa are in a 2-way tie for 3rd place at 8 under-par.
The second round of the 2024 Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand, played at Aravell Golf & Country Club, located near Aravell, Lleida, Spain, began again this morning from holes 1 and 10 at 8:00 a.m. local time. The players competing for the title this week faced another day of very warm temperatures.

After his round, Boulet commented on how: “I strongly believe that what has made a difference in my game has been my putting, my short- and long-range putts have been exceptionally good. Also, I’m seeing that I’ve been able to make fewer mistakes during this week and also during the last tournament, which I won at Mirabelle, and that is resulting in me being able to make fewer bogeys, so that allows me to put together a lower score overall.” After today’s round, Boulet takes away some valuable knowledge about his attitude: “I can say that it was really good. I was able to stay calm when I missed a shot, and I was in the present and always focused on my game plan. I worked a lot on my attitude and the hard work I did is paying off. For tomorrow, I won’t change anything compared to the 1st two rounds. The only attention I will have is staying vigilant about what mood I put myself in ahead of the tournament, and then if I keep doing what I did the past two days, I’m sure everything will take care of itself.” Tomorrow Boulet has a chance to win his 2nd professional win and back-to-back title, he described it as “It would be incredible, truly incredible. It would be my 2ndprofessional win, 2nd win in my last 2 starts, so it would be very special. It would also show that the hard work I’m doing with my coaches is paying off, so we must keep going. However, there is still a round to be played, so I will keep focused on what I have to do, and we will see what happens at the end of the round tomorrow.”
Benjamin Kedochim, 29, from France, concludes the 2nd round of the 2024 Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand in 2nd place with a two-day total of 9 under-par. He was co-leading after yesterday’s first round with a 7 under-par,64 while today he shot a 2 under-par, 69 making 5 birdies and 3 bogeys. When he concluded his 2nd round, Kedochim commented: “It was another good day of golf. I didn’t hit the ball as close as I did yesterday though that’s why my birdie opportunities today were from 5-6 meters instead of 2-3 meters like yesterday. It was tougher today to make birdies, I missed some greens too but was able to make a lot of pars. I’m sticking to my game and playing shot by shot. Hopefully that will do it, so far it’s been working well.” Looking ahead to tomorrow’s final round, Kedochim has a chance to earn his 1st Alps Tour title: “Tomorrow I will do the same. Shot by shot, follow my gameplan and try to be in contention on the back nine to hopefully earn my 1st win.”
France’s Paul Margolis, 24, is in a 2-way tie for 3rd place after two rounds at the 2024 Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand. He was tied for the lead at 7 under-par after the 1st round of the tournament and shot a 1 under-par, 70 today with 3 birdies and 2 bogeys for a two-day total of 8 under-par. Margolis won as an amateur on the Alps Tour in 2021, and since then, he earned various top-10 finishes but is looking for his first title as a professional. After his round, Margolis, explained how: “The course was more complicated today, the pin positions were tougher and I felt even though there was less wind, it was much hotter than what it was yesterday, so it was overall it was a harder round.” Thinking about today’s round, Margolis commented: “I hit the ball very good again, but it was as precise. My putting was a little off today, I had a lot of lip outs compared to yesterday where I made a lot of putts. Overall compared to yesterday every part of my game was a little less sharp but it was still a very good round.” He guesses that the “with a 14 under-par score you will grab the trophy tomorrow.”
Ruben Lafuente Montesa, 23, from Spain, concludes his 2nd round of the 2024 Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand with a total score of 8 under-par and finds himself in a 2-way tie for 3rd place alongside Margolis. He shot a 6 under-par, 65 in today’s round with 6 birdies, 2 bogeys, and 1 eagle on his final hole of the day. After his round 2, Lafuente Montesa talked about how: “I felt very good on the course today, I was able to make some important putts during the round. For tomorrow, I just want to continue with the confidence I’ve had during the first two rounds and continue playing the way I do. It is really difficult to predict the winning result, but probably if I play like today, I plan on reaching -14 tomorrow, and I don’t think that will be very far from the winning score.”

A French duo leads after Round 1 at the 2024 Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand
Aravell, June 27th, 2024- France’s Paul Margolis and Benjamin Kedochim co-lead after the 1st round of the 2024 Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand. with a 7 under-par, 64. In a two-way tie for 3rd place another French duo: Antoine Santarelli and Baptiste Achard only 1 stroke back at 6 under-par.
The first round of the 2024 Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand, played at Aravell Golf & Country Club, located near Aravell, Lleida, Spain, began this morning at 8:00 a.m. local time from holes 1 and 10.

France’s Benjamin Kedochim, 29, co-leads alongside Margolis after the opening round of the 2024 Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand. He shot an opening round with 10 birdies and 3 bogeys for a 7 under-par. 64 round. During today’s opening round, Kedochim was paired alongside the other co-leader, Margolis, and they enjoyed their round together: “I played with Paul Margolis today, and I’ve played with him in the past, and I must say every time we play together we play well so playing with him today was fun. Brandon Kewalramani was with us, I never played with him before, but it was a fun round overall for all of us. It’s always enjoyable to play golf while you’re having fun, and good scores are a bonus.” Kedochim is the current Order of Merit leader, and he commented that he “isn’t focusing on the order of merit, I’m just focusing on playing my own game like every time. I am doing my best each day and putting a good round together. The rest will take care of itself.” He believes the only real mistake he made today was on the 6th hole where he “3-putted. The other 2 bogeys I made today I guess I can say I deserved them but I do regret the 3-putt on hole 6 as I hit the green and should’ve two-putted. That’s the only negative aspect of today’s round.”
Alongside Santarelli in the two-way tie for 3rd place with a first-round score of 6 under-par, 65, fellow French player Baptiste Achard, 26. During his opening round, he made 5 birdies and 1 bogey on the front nine holes and then added 4 more birdies and 2 bogeys on the back nine to end his day. Once he concluded his first round, Achard was satisfied with how his day went as he: “made a lot of putts today. I’m extremely satisfied with my putting today. Overall, it was a good day of golf and I made a lot of birdies, I believe 9 in total. For the next two rounds, I want to stay really focused on my game and my strategy but also be very patient with myself. There is a lot of golf left to be played.”

After his round, Boulet commented on how: “My driving was a little less efficient, but luckily, it didn’t penalize me. My strategy, my way of approaching the course, and my putting were very good today. I think it’s the real important part of my game, and that’s what made the difference during the round.” He added that he found: “the conditions were good today. I played in the morning wave, and there was no wind. However, it was very hot, and I think that the heat will play an important role during this tournament, especially on a physical level.”
A past winner on the Alps Tour, France’s Franck Médale, 29, is also in the 6-way tie for 5th place after the opening round of the 2024 Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand. He teed off on hole 10 today, where he went on to make 1 eagle and 1 birdie on his opening nine holes. Once he made the turn, he made 3 more birdies and 2 bogeys to finish the day. Médale has had a rough start to the 2024 season, but after his first round, he commented: “I worked with my staff on making the game simpler and more fun. I’m enjoying myself much more on the course now, and I’m looking forward to playing the rest of the season.”

France’s Théo Boulet wins the 21st Open International de La Mirabelle d’Or.
Metz, June 16th, 2024- France’s Théo Boulet wins his first Alps Tour title at the 21st Open International de la Mirabelle d’Or with a total score of 11 under-par. In 2nd place, only 1 stroke back at 10 under-par, Italy’s Flavio Michetti. In a three-way tie for 3rd place with a three-day score of 9 under-par: France’s Damien Perrier and amateur Nathan Legendre and Vince Van Veen from the Netherlands.
The final round of the 2024 Open International de la Mirabelle d’Or began at 9:11 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole. The final pairing teed off at 10:50 a.m. local time from the 1st hole. The players competing at Golf Domaine de la Grange Aux Ormes disputed today’s final round under a mix of weather conditions that included mostly cloudy sky, some moderate winds, rain, and a temperature around 18° Celsius.
This year, we celebrated the 21st edition of the tournament, which has been part of the Alps Tour schedule since 2005.

After securing his win, Boulet was very emotional: “It was a very good day, I played really well again on difficult day with tough weather conditions. There was a lot of wind today, which affected the round. My game has been extremely solid again, so I’m really pleased about it.” Boulet admitted that he definitely felt: “some nerves on the first tee, I was just a little bit nervous but after that I was very confident with my game, so it was ok.” Capturing this win here in France this week means a lot to him: “I’m so happy. It means a lot because the beginning of the season wasn’t that good for me, so it’s really nice to turn things around. It truly is special to win my first professional title here in France, at home. I’m very happy about that.” Boulet wants to: “dedicate this win to my coaches, my parents, my family, and my sponsors who have supported me from the beginning.”
Flavio Michetti, 20, from Italy, shot a final round of 5 under-par, 65 to conclude the tournament in a solo 2nd place with a three-day total of 10 under-par. He shot a bogey-free round today, making 2 birdies on the front nine holes and 3 birdies on the back nine holes. He has earned several good finishes this season and is looking to break through and win his first Alps Tour title, hopefully in the upcoming tournaments.
After this week’s 2024 Open International de La Mirabelle d’Or, France’s Benjamin Kedochim is the new Order of Merit leader with 15,203.25 points. Italy’s Edoardo R Lipparelli is in 2nd place with 15,138.00 points and Aymeric Laussot from France maintains his 3rd place with 13,054.50 points. Italy’s Enrico Di Nitto remains in 4th place with 12,954.45 points and Vince Van Veen from Netherlands has moved into 5th place with 10,202.25 points.

Vince Van Veen moves into the lead after Round 2 in France.
Metz, June 15th, 2024- After two rounds at the 21st Open International de la Mirabelle d’Or, we have a close leaderboard. Netherland’s Vince Van Veen moves into the lead with a two-day total of 8 under-par. In a three-way tie for 2nd place at 6 under-par: French amateur Nathan Legendre, Théo Boulet, and Austria’s Maximilian Steinlechner.
It was a beautiful sunny day with some moderate wind gusts and a temperature that reached 19° Celsius that welcomed the players Golf Domaine de la Grange Aux Ormes near Metz, France, for the 2nd round of the 21st edition of the Open International de la Mirabelle d’Or. Play began at 7:30 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole.
This is the 21st edition of the tournament, and it has been part of the Alps Tour schedule since 2005.
Round 2 Player Quotes
Netherland’s Vince Van Veen, 27, is in the lead after two rounds at the 2024 Open International de la Mirabelle d’Or. He was in a two-way tie for 2nd place after yesterday’s round 1, and today he shot a 3 under-par, 67 with 5 birdies and 2 bogeys to move into the lead with a two-day total of 8 under-par. Van Veen won the 2022 Fred Olsen Alps de La Gomera title and is now looking to earn his 2nd title on the Alps Tour. His most recent best finish occurred at the 2024 Lacanau Alps Open, where he concluded the tournament tied for 3rd place. He has some luck here at Domaine de la Grange aux Ormes as he made a hole-in-one back in 2019 and made another hole-in-one during yesterday’s round 1. After 3 under-par round, Van Veen commented: “I played solid today, I must say that I hit some better shots in the wind compared to what I was able to do yesterday. The conditions were tougher today, as the wind got stronger, and it was gusty at times. So, I hit 2 more shots compared to yesterday, but honestly, it felt like a better round to me.” For tomorrow’s final round, he doesn’t “foresee any big changes to his game plan as the forecast should be similar to what we’ve experienced. To be honest, it’s tough to predict a winning score as the wind has blown firmly, but I would say around 14 or 15 under-par.” Van Veen is already: “proud of myself, so winning tomorrow would just give me a trophy to take home, but I am very proud of my game and the work I’ve put in.”
French amateur, Nathan Legendre, 22, moves into a 3-way tie for 2nd place after round 2 of the 2024 Open International de la Mirabelle d’Or. He was tied for 26th place at even par after the first round of the tournament but shot a great 6 under-par, 64 with 1 eagle, 6 birdies. and 2 bogeys to move into the 3-way tie for 2nd place with a two-day total of 6 under-par.
The winner of the 2024 Gösser Open, Austria’s Maximilian Steinlechner, 24, concludes his round 2 of the 2024 Open International de la Mirabelle d’Or in a 3-way tie for 2nd place with a total score of 6 under-par. He shot a 2nd round score of 2 under-par, 68 with 1 birdie and 2 bogeys on the front nine holes, and then once he made the turn, he made 5 more birdies and 1 double bogey to end his round. After his 2nd round, Steinlechner commented that: “the conditions were difficult today with the strong and gusty winds this morning. I feel like I managed the challenges the round put in front of me fairly well, so I’m overall satisfied.” He added that he found that here at Domaine de la Grange aux Ormes, “there is pretty much on every hole high rough which essentially plays like out of bounds to the left and right. So even though it might not be a long course, being aggressive off the tee can quickly backfire, especially with the wind we are having.” Looking ahead to tomorrow’s final round, where he has a chance to earn his 2nd trophy of the season, Steinlechnerexplained: “?it would be awesome, but there is some golf left to be played and anyone who has played golf knows what can happen. I like the position I’m in, though.”
Alongside Legendre and Steinlechner with a two-day total of 6 under-par, there is France’s Théo Boulet, 21. He shot a bogey-free, 7 under-par, 63 with 2 birdies on the front nine holes and 5 birdies on the back nine holes. After his bogey-free round, Boulet was extremely pleased: “It was a very good day, I played well on a really difficult day with the wind gusts on a demanding course. My putting was good I made a lot of putts, putts to save par too, that’s what helped me the most today.” Tomorrow, Boulet has a chance to earn his first Alps Tour title, “I’m going to stay focused on my game plan, I’m not going to change much. Obviously, depending on the weather conditions, but I’m going to stay focused and give it my all from holes 1 to 18. It would be incredible to win my first tournament especially this week in France, but I don’t want to think about it, I want to stay focused on my game and be in the present.”
Final Round
A total of 58 players made the cut which was set at +2 (138).
The Final Round of the 2024 Open International de La Mirabelle d’Or will begin at 9:11 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole. The Final Pairing will tee off at 10:50 a.m. local time from the 1st hole. In case of a tie after 54 holes, a sudden-death play-off will determine the winner.
The 2024 Open International de La Mirabelle d’Or winner will walk away with €5,800 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.

French Amateur Théo Boulet is in the lead after Round 1 in France.
Saint-Omer, September 14th 2023 – Twenty-year-old, French amateur Théo Boulet, leads the way after a bogey-free 6 under-par, 65 in the 1st round of the 2023 Hauts de France – Pas de Calais Golf Open. In 2nd place, only 1 stroke back after a bogey-free 5 under-par, the winner of the 2023 Aravell Golf Open by Creand, Italy’s Manfredi Manica. In 3rd place, the winner of the 2023 Gösser Open, Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney. Tied for 4th place a 3 under-par: Estonia’s Sander Aadusaar, Finland’s Eemil Alajarvi, England’s Jack Floydd, France’s Benjamin Kedochim and Netherland’s Lars Keunen.
The 2023 Hauts de France – Pas de Calais Golf Open is a co-sanctioned tournament between players from the Alps Tour and the Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS). The event is being played on the same course with alternating tee times between the Alps Tour players and LETAS players. There are 66 players competing from each tour for two different dedicated prize funds and, thus, trophies.
The Alps Tour players are playing the golf course as a 6182 meters par 71. The Ladies European Tour Access Series(LETAS) players are playing the golf course as a 5349 meters par 73.
The first round of the 2023 Hauts de France- Pas de Calais Golf Open, played at Aa Saint- Omer Golf Club in the Northwestern part of France, began at 8:15 am local time this morning from the 1st and 10th hole. Players were able to compete with perfect scoring and weather conditions throughout the entire first round, as there were beautiful sunny skies, a pleasant climate, and some light winds.
Round 1 Player Quotes
Twenty years old, French amateur Théo Boulet leads the field with a bogey-free 6 under-par, 65 after the 1st round of the 2023 Hauts de France- Pas de Calais Golf Open. He currently represents Golf de Chantilly and is still competing as an amateur in his 1st full season on the Alps Tour. He made 3 birdies on the front nine and 3 birdies on the back, including 2 birdies in his last 3 holes. After the round, Boulet was very satisfied with his 1st round: “I’m very happy with my 1st round. A lot of good things happened today. I putted extremely well today, and my long game was sharp too. I will try to keep it going tomorrow and hope to do even better. There is still a lot of golf left to be played, but I will keep my feet very grounded and keep improving.” When asked about his playing status, he “we will see what happens, but I would like to turn pro at the end of the year, I know I will be able to have a good category on the Alps Tour next season, but the objective will be to have a good playing status for next year.” Boulet made 2 birdies in his last three holes, and one of them occurred on the 16th hole where “I hit a wayward tee shot on the 16th hole, I found myself on the other fairway, it was difficult to get the good yardage as I had to do a bunch calculation. It could have gone both ways; a bad shot would have turned the score for the hole into at least a bogey, but a good shot would have been very rewarding. I hit a good shot, and the ball bounced the right way, I ended up 2.5 meters from the hole and made the putt. It was a very satisfying birdie and a good confidence booster. I’m looking forward to keeping it going tomorrow.”
Italy’s Manfredi Manica, who captured his 1st professional win at the 2023 Aravell Golf Open by Creand, finds himself in 3rdplace after the first round of the 2023 Hauts de France- Pas de Calais Golf Open with a bogey-free 5 under-par, 66. Manica is 27 years old, turned professional at the end of 2021, and currently represents Golf Nazionale. After his bogey-free round, Manica commented that, “the course is definitely playing easier than last year, it’s a bit softer and playing longer but on a lot of tee shots, the fact that the ball won’t roll out as much helps. Today was definitely a very positive start to the tournament.” He currently sits 11th in the Alps Tour Order of Merit rank and is looking to make a final move in the ranks but is trying to stay present in the moment, “fingers crossed, it’s definitely on my mind but let’s not say anything. There is still a lot of golf left to be played.” After the opening round, he planned to do some “light practice this afternoon, especially some putting, and then some rest before tomorrow.” Manica went on to add that he believes the key to capturing the win this week will be “your tee shots for sure if you can place them in the correct spots it can be a big advantage and then obviously putting. Those two together will make a difference on the scorecard for sure.”
The winner of the 31st Gösser Open, Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney who currently is 3rd in the Order of Merit rank, concludes the 1st round of the tournament in 3rd place with a 4 under-par, 67. He shot a bogey-free round with 3 birdies on the front nine and 1 birdie on the back. He previously had played in some events in 2020 before the Covid-19 pandemic began, but this is his 1stfull year on the Alps Tour. Mullarney turned professional in 2019 and competed in the 2022 Open Championship.
Sander Aadusaar from Estonia, concluded his first round with a 3 under-par, 68 and be in a 5-way tie for 4th place. During his round, he made 3 birdies on the front nine holes and 1 double bogey and 2 birdies on the back nine. He is 28 years old and represents Niitvalja Golf Club. Aadusaar found that it’s easier to make birdies on this golf course this year as, “the course is softer than last year, and I feel like it’s a bit easier to make birdies, however, I still have a double bogey on the card and I feel like it’s a course that can change very quickly so I want to stay patient and see what the next two rounds will bring.” He’s satisfied with how he played, “I’m hitting the ball well and gave myself chances. I’m trying to avoid making mistakes and sticky to the game plan.” Aadusaar believes that there won’t be too much difference in the scores today between the morning and afternoon wave as, “today was definitely a calm day, we didn’t have much wind at all so I don’t think there will be much difference between the 2 waves. Hopefully, tomorrow will be the same way.”
The 2023 Hauts de France- Pas de Calais Golf Open winner will earn €6,400 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.
LETAS
In the LET Access Series event, Slovenia’s Katja Pogacar, 29 years old, is in the lead with a 6 under-par, 67. She has three top-10 finishes on tour this season, including a second place at the Montauban Ladies Open in June. Pogacar has made every cut of the tournaments she participated in this season and currently is 8th on the LETAS Order of Merit rank.
After her round, Pogacar commented, “Today was a solid round, I did make some mistakes, but I bounced back easily. I’m happy with the long putt for par on the 13th. I really like the course as it reminds me of my home course, and I feel like I know what to do in certain situations. It’s also really fun to play similar golf to the guys.”
In the Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS) players field, there are 66 players represented. They are competing for LETAS Order of Merit points and their prize fund, which is set at € 40.000. After the round tomorrow, a cut will be made to the top 30 professional players and ties.
Round 2
The second round of the 2023 Hauts de France-Pas de Calais Golf Open will begin again at 8:15 am local time from the 1stand 10th hole. After round 2, a cut will be made to the top 30 professional players and ties.
The first-round leader, French amateur Théo Boulet will begin round 2 at 8:45 am local time from the 10th hole.
