Olsen Alps de La Gomera title, marking his second professional victory in less than a month with an impressive total score of 19 under-par. Romano finished two strokes clear of a tie for second place between Spain’s Javier Barcos and Alvaro Quiros. France’s Paul Margolis secured fourth place with a three-day total of 15 under par. The Final Round of the 2025 Fred. This was the 5^th edition of the 2025 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera after its previous three editions, which were hosted in 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023.

Italy’s Andrea Romano, 25, who secured his first professional title earlier this year at the 2025 Alps de Andalucía-Roquetas de Mar, claimed his second win in less than one month at this week’s 2025 Fred. Romano also participated in last week’s DP World Tour Italian Open, further highlighting his rapid rise in professional golf. “I played really, really well today, especially on the front nine where I shot 8 under par without missing a single putt,” he said. Reflecting on today’s competition, Romano added, “It was a true honor for me to compete alongside Alvaro Quiros in the final round. He is a great player. I’ve known him since I was 17, when I had the chance to play a practice round with him at the Verdura Open on the DP World Tour. To be able to battle with him for the win today is something I will remember for a while.” Looking back at his recent form, Romano explained, “Playing the Italian Open last week helped me a lot because I played well, I finished, if I’m not mistaken, in the top 30, and it gave me more confidence competing out here. I know I can perform well; it’s a matter of confidence and abilities. If I can play well and have good results on the DP World Tour, it means I can do the same out here.” Concluding on a personal note, he said, “This win is for my family and mainly my mom, who has been there every step of the way. I will now enjoy it and refocus for next week.”

Spain’s Javier Barcos and Alvaro Quiros finished the week in a two-way tie for second place with a three-day total of 17 under par. In the final round, Barcos posted an impressive 8 under-par 63, while Quiros carded a 6 under-par 65.

Following the 2025 Fred. Olsen Alps de La Gomera, Italy’s Jacopo Vecchi Fossa retains his position as the Order of Merit leader with 20,631.38 points. Spain’s Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela moves up to second place, accumulating 20,248.13 points, while fellow Spaniard Javier Barcos is in third place with 19,465.34 points. La Gomera, July 4^th, 2025- After two rounds at the 2025 Fred. Olsen Alps de La Gomera, the leaderboard is tightly contested. Spain’s Alfonso Buendia, Alvaro Quiros, and Italy’s Andrea Romano share the lead at 11-under-par. Just one stroke behind, in a two-way tie for fourth place, are Spain’s Juan Salama Monsalve and France’s Paul Margolis. Javier Barcos of Spain holds sixth place at 9-under-par, setting the stage for an exciting final day of competition.

Spain’s Alfonso Buendia, 28, who was tied for fourth place after yesterday’s opening round, carded a beautiful 6-under-par 65 in today’s second round to move into a three-way tie for the lead with a two-day total of 11-under-par. He opened his round by making three birdies and one eagle on the front nine, and once he made the turn, the back nine became steadier, where he made one bogey before ending the day with two birdies in a row on holes 17 and 18.“I try to keep doing like I did the first round, as well as taking advantage of all the opportunities that came my way,” said Buendia. “My mindset is really simple, shot by shot and hole by hole—so I can remain calm, stay in the present, and stay focused. On Hole 18, I had a short wedge into the green and about a two-meter putt for birdie, which I holed. It’s nice to finish off with two birdies. It gives me good momentum for tomorrow.”

Alvaro Quiros, 42, of Spain, joins Buendia in a three-way tie for the lead after carding a 5-under-par 66 in today’s second round, bringing his two-day total to 11-under-par. A seasoned veteran and seven-time DP World Tour Winner, with an additional victory on the HotelPlanner Tour, he turned professional in 2004. Quiros showcased his experience with a composed round marked by key momentum shifts. He opened with an eagle, a birdie, and two bogeys on the front nine, then added a birdie on the 10^th hole before stringing together a run of pars. He closed out his round in style with three consecutive birdies on holes 16 through 18. “Today was completely different than yesterday, I wasn’t as sharp off the tee, and as a consequence, I didn’t have as many opportunities,” said Quiros. “I turned it around with a nice long putt for eagle on hole 7. I was playing okay today. My putting was better, as I was able to hole a few long putts, so I must be happy about the past two days.” Reflecting on course conditions, he added: “Weather-wise, we’ve been extremely lucky. There was barely any wind—occasionally it picked up, but then it would die suddenly, so the golf course played under similar conditions for both rounds and both waves. I found some pins today to be slightly trickier, so you had to take a bit more risk on a few of them.” Quiros concluded, “Generally, I’m very happy with how I reacted to a poorer long game, but even happier with the state of mind I had the whole day.”

Italy’s Andrea Romano, 25, who competed in last week’s DP World Tour Italian Open and claimed victory at the 2025 Alps de Andalucía–Roquetas de Mar in June, joins Buendía and Quiros in a share of the lead after the second round of the 2025 Fred. Olsen Alps de La Gomera, with a two-day total of 11-under-par. Romano got off to a strong start, making an eagle on the 3^rd hole, followed by four birdies on holes 5, 6, 7, and 9. On the back nine, he made a lone bogey on hole 12 but quickly bounced back with a birdie on 13, before adding another on the 17th hole to cap off his round. “I’m really happy about today, I played really well,” said Romano. “I’ve been solid off the tees and with my irons. My putting is okay, not as good as it was a few weeks ago when I was putting well, but overall I’m happy.” He added, “The greens here are tough to read with a lot of grain, so you need to be very careful about the breaks and, more importantly, trust your read compared to what your eyes might see. The course is in great shape, especially on holes 11 and 12, where you need to be careful as it can get windy.” Reflecting on his position, Romano said, “Being up there on the leaderboard is a good feeling. Two weeks ago, I won, and now my goal is to secure another victory to move into the top six, which would earn me an exemption and allow me to avoid Stage 1 of Q-School. However, now, I need to remain focused for tomorrow. There is a great leaderboard, and to be able to compete with Alvaro Quiros tomorrow and battle for the win will be special.”

La Gomera, July 3^rd, 2025- After the opening round of the 2025 Fred.Olsen Alps de La Gomera, Italy’s Marco Floriolileads the field with a 7 under-par, 64. In a tightly packed leaderboard, there is a two-way tie for 2^nd place at 6 under-par between Spain’s Javier Barcos and veteran Alvaro Quiros. Just one shot back, France’s Quentin Debove joins five Spanish players: Juan Salama Monsalve, Alfonso Buendia, Borja Martin, Javier Calles Roman, and Hugo Esposito, all within striking distance in tomorrow’s second round.

On the beautiful Island of La Gomera, in the Canary Islands, the first round of the 2025 Fred. Olsen Alps De La Gomera played at the scenic Tecina Golf, began at 8:00 a.m. local time. Italy’s Marco Florioli set the early pace at the 2025 Fred. Olsen Alps de La Gomera, taking the First-Round lead with an impressive 7-under-par 64. The 20-year-old showcased his skill and composure around Tecina Golf, carding an eagle on the par-5 7^th hole, six birdies on holes 3, 6, 8, 9, 16, and 17, and just a single bogey on the 11^th hole. Florioli’s strong start puts him at the top of the leaderboard heading into the second round of the event. The 20-year-old Italian credited his precise approach shots for his impressive score. “Today, of course, everything went pretty well, especially my approach shots into the greens. I believe that’s the key to scoring well around Tecina Golf,” he said. Florioli noted that weather conditions added an extra challenge mid-round. “We began the day with no wind, then mid-round it picked up a little bit, and it became quite challenging in the middle part of the round.” Reflecting on his round’s highlights, he pointed to a key stretch of holes. “Today’s highlight definitely was the eagle on the 7th hole after a birdie and the two more birdies in a row, which helped a lot and kept the momentum going.” He also credited the comfort of playing alongside a close friend for his positive mindset. “Today I played with one of my best friends, which helped a lot. I was at ease on the course and really enjoyed the day. That was a big part of today.” Looking ahead, Florioli acknowledged the importance of maintaining his performance. “To be at the top after the first round is very important. It feels good to be there, and hopefully, I can keep the same strategy in the next two days, and I will remain at the top.”

Javier Barcos, 23, from Spain, continued his strong season on the Alps Tour by firing a bogey-free 6 under-par, 65 in the opening round of the 2025 Fred. Olsen Alps de La Gomera, moving into a two-way tie for second place. Currently ranked fourth in the Order of Merit and winner of this year’s New Giza Open, Barcos delivered a consistent and composed performance, carding six birdies on holes 2, 3, 6, 9, 14, and 17 to stay within striking distance of the lead. “Today was really good,” said the 23-year-old Spaniard. “I’d say I didn’t have a highlight; it was just solid playing during the whole round with no crazy shots or crazy long putts.” Barcos kept his card clean with no bogeys and showed confidence off the tee and on the greens. “I honestly didn’t have anything that I struggled with,” he added. “Maybe a couple of drivers, but nothing too bad.” While pleased to be in contention early, Barcos remains focused on consistency. “It is good to be at the top from the beginning, but the important thing is just to keep playing as you are and not try anything different, just be yourself for the next rounds coming up.” He credited his putting for giving him early momentum: “I started putting really good on the front nine; then on the back nine I didn’t make as many putts, but I kept playing very solid.” Looking ahead, Barcos remains grounded despite the prospect of another win. “It would be great to win again, but it honestly won’t change anything that I’m doing or that I’m planning on doing,” he said. “I’ll just keep working as I am and try to play as good as I can every week.”

The experienced veteran, a seven-time DP World Tour Winner with one additional victory on the HotelPlanner Tour, who turned professional in 2004, showed his class with a steady round marked by momentum shifts. He opened with back-to-back birdies on holes 2 and 3, gave a shot back with a bogey on 4, and bounced back with another birdie on 6. After a bogey on 7, Quiros responded again with a birdie at 9 before making the turn. On the back nine, he found his rhythm, adding birdies on 12, 16, 17, and 18 to cap off a strong finish and position himself firmly in contention heading into the second round. He leaned on his experience throughout the round and credited his precision from tee to green as the foundation of his performance. “Today my long game was extremely consistent, and it was the key to my entire round,” said the 42-year-old Spaniard. “I just missed one green throughout the entire day — on a par 5 where I tried to go for the green in two, and the ball rolled off and ended up in the bunker.” Despite competing at a different level this week, Quiros expressed appreciation for the opportunity to test himself against the Alps Tour’s rising stars. “I’m excited to be here this week. It’s a different level, but it’s incredible to witness how well the young generation of professional golfers are prepared,” he said. “Today I played with a player who is half my age, and to see how he played, how he acted, and how well he was prepared, it was incredible. To keep up and be able to compete with them, you need to have the tools — they are very competitive and prepared.” Looking ahead, Quirós acknowledged the challenge posed by our host venue, particularly around the greens, “this week at Tecina Golf, the tee shots are generous, but around the greens it’s very demanding, the putting and approach shots. Especially lately, those are my weak areas and not as competitive as they need to be, so it’s nice to really test my patience with it,” he continued. “Today and for the rest of the week, my main focus is to enjoy myself, it’s very easy here, the view is beautiful, the weather is great, and I’m going to be as patient as possible with my game.”

At stake this week is a total prize fund of €42,500 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The winner of the 2025 Fred. Olsen Alps De La Gomera will walk away with €6,200.00 and 6,525 points towards the Order of Merit standings. Tecina Golf Welcomes Back the 5th edition of the Fred. Olsen Alps de La Gomera

La Gomera, July 1^st, 2025- The Alps Tour heads back to the Canary Islands for the 12^th tournament of the season, the 2025 Fred. Olsen Alps De La Gomera. The tournament will be played at the fascinating Tecina Golf from July 3^rd– 5^th2025. On July 2^nd from 10:00 a.m. local time, approximately 20 teams will participate in the Tour Scramble, Par is Your Friend Pro-Am.

It will mark the tournament’s fifth edition, following successful editions in 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023. These previous editions have helped establish the event as one of the most highly regarded stops on the Alps Tour calendar. The tournament was not held in 2024 due to renovations at the host venue, Hotel Jardín Tecina.

Tecina Golf has served as a launchpad for rising talent, some of whom have gone on to become stars on the global stage. The course has hosted 19 professional events to date, including eight HotelPlanner Tour tournaments between 2009 and 2016. Among its notable champions is major winner Brooks Koepka, who triumphed here early in his career, in 2013.

The most recent edition, held in 2023, saw Italy’s Gianmaria Rean Trinchero capture the title with a tournament-record score of 19-under par, the lowest winning total in the event’s history.

The Field

Nine of this season’s tournament winners are confirmed to compete at the 2025 Fred.Olsen Alps de la Gomera. Among them are Switzerland’s Luca Galliano, winner of the season-opening 2025 Ein Bay Open; Spain’s Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela, champion of both the 2025 Red Sea Little Venice Open and the 2025 Tunisian Golf Open; and fellow Spaniard Javier Barcos, winner of the 2025 New Giza Open. Also in the field are Asier Aguirre Izcue of Spain, who triumphed at the 2025 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON; Spain’s Jorge Maicas, winner of the 2025 Gösser Open; and Javier Calles Roman of Spain, winner of the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open. Italy’s Andrea Romano, who claimed the 2025 Alps de Andalucía – Roquetas de Mar, and rounding out the group is Netherlands’ Jerry Ji, the most recent winner at the 2025 Aravell Golf Open by Creand.

Eight players currently ranked within the Top 10 of the Alps Tour Order of Merit are scheduled to compete this week in the Canary Islands, with the exception of Order of Merit leader Italy’s Jacopo Vecchi Fossa and Spain’s Rocco Repetto Taylor.

Vecchi Fossa, winner of the 2025 Open de La Mirabelle d’Or, competed last week on the DP World Tour at the Italian Open, finishing tied for 10^th place and earning an exemption into this week’s DP World Tour event in Germany, the BMW International Open, where he will be competing.

Repetto Taylor, who won the 2025 La Cigale Golf Open by Alps Tour in March, also captured the title at the 2025 Challenge de Cadiz on the HotelPlanner Tour and has since earned playing rights on the higher-level circuit.

As we are more than halfway through the 2025 season, players are eagerly competing to earn a spot in the top 5 Order of Merit rank, which at the end of the season, will give them access to the 2026 HotelPlanner Tour. As well as the leading 6 players (including amateurs) from the Alps Tour Order of Merit within a certain date defined by the DP World Tour, up to 10, not otherwise exempt, will get an exemption for the Stage 1 of the 2025 DP World Tour Qualifying School.

The 2025 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera will be played as a 54 holes stroke play tournament where a cut will be made after 36 holes to the top 40 professional players and ties plus amateurs within the cut.

The players competing this week will contend a prize fund of € 42.500 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The winner will earn €6,200 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.

The Course

Tecina Golf, one of the top three courses in the Canary Islands, is a par 71 course measuring 6,343 meters from the white tees. Designed by renowned British architect Donald Steel, it is located on the hill of Lomada de Tecina on La Gomera, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve since 2012. I played extremely well and it makes it even more special and I’m very happy.” When asked about what it means to him to have captured his 1^stprofessional win and became a 1^st time winner on the Alps Tour, he added, “this win means a lot to me. I feel like I’ve been playing well and was 16^th in the order of merit and needed to capture a win to try and be in the top 5 spots so it means a lot in this particular moment of the season. More importantly I’ve regained a good level of confidence in my game so I’m very happy about that also. I want to thank my parents, my coaches Giovanni Dassù and my putting coach Camilla Mazzola.” Looking at the rest of the season, Rean Trinchero added that: “my season goals won’t change. I need another good finish in one of the next two events to be sure I can stay in the top 5 so another win would obviously be great but I’d be happy with a few good top 5 finishes.”

Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela from Spain whos hometown is Tenerife was tied for the lead after two rounds, had a final round of 4 under-par for a three-day total of 15 under-par. He made 1 bogey and 5 birdies in his final round. He is 26 years old, turned professional in 2021 and this is his 3^rd season on the Alps Tour. After he completed his last round, Hernandez Cabezuela was satisfied even though he came up short: “I played well but Gianmaria was unbeatable, on the front 9 I left some shots out there as I was only able to make 1 birdie and made a mistake on the 8^th hole. Then I played really well on the back nine but I am happy overall because I feel I can win, my performance this week reflects that I am playing well and my time will come.”

The tournament ends with a two-way tie for 3^rd place with a three-day score of 13 under-par, Dutch-duo: Davey Porsius and Bob Geurts. In a four-way tie for 5^th place only 1 stroke back: Spain’s Quim Vidal, France’s Franck Medale, Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney and France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy.

After the 11^th tournament of the season, Netherland’s Kiet Van der Weele keeps the Alps Tour Order of Merit lead with Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney in 2^nd place and England’s Jack Floydd in 3^rd place. This week’s winner Italy’s Gianmaria Rean Trinchero, moved into 6^th place.

Final Round

Gianmaria Rean Trinchero winner of the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera earned the winning check of € 5.800,00 and 6,525 Order of Merit Points.

The next event on the schedule for the Alps Tour gets underway from July 27^th until July 29^th at Miglianico Golf & Country Club where the players will be competing for the 2023 Abruzzo Alps Open.

La Gomera, July 14^th 2023- After two rounds at the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera, we have a very close leaderboard. Canary Islander Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela and France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy share the lead after two rounds with a total score of 11 under-par. In a two-way tie for 3^rd place only 1 stroke back: Netherland’s Bob Geurts and Italy’s Gianmaria Rean Trinchero. France’s Augustin Hole is in 5^th place with a two-day score of 9 under-par.

The 2^nd round of the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera which is being played at the breathtaking Tecina Golf on the Island De La Gomera in the Canary Islands began with a 30 minutes delay. They delay occurred as there were some very strong overnight winds that toppled various palm trees throughout the golf course therefore the head superintendent and his staff needed extra time to get the course back into playing conditions for the players. The Alps Tour wants to thank Tecina Golf head superintendent Josè Arrola and his staff as well as Real Federación Española de Golf superintendent Miguel Guerra for their incredible work to allow us to start the second round.

This is the 4^th edition of the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera. The 2^ndround officially began at 8:50 am local time from the 1^st hole.

Round 2 Player Quotes

Spain’s Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela who’s hometown is Tenerife in the Canary Islands, was tied for 14^th place at the conclusion of yesterday’s 1^st round, after today’s round, he is tied for the lead. He followed his opening-round of 4 under-par 67, with a 7 under-par 64 in the second round for a two-day total of 11 under-par. Today, he made 1 eagle, 1 bogey and 6 birdies throughout his round. He is 26 years old, turned professional in 2021 but is playing his 3^rd season on the Alps Tour. After his round, Hernandez Cabezuela was very pleased, “I played much better today, specially from the 1^st hole to the 7^th. Then I had a couple more chances for birdie but unfortunately didn’t make them. I’m very happy with the score because it was a bit tougher today also condition wise. The wind was obviously a big factor today, it was very gusty so it made it even tougher.” He went on to explain that: “I caught a huge momentum going through the front nine. Just dropped a few putts and hit some really good shots making 4 birdies and 1 eagle in a row. I will for sure be looking for many more tomorrow. I will be focusing on playing my own game, I’ll need to bring my best to hopefully win my 1^st title tomorrow and it would be even more special being at home.”

Oihan Guillamoundeguy from France who shot a 6 under-par, 65 during the 1^st round and was tied for 5^th place, finds himself in the two-way tie for the lead. He followed his opening-round with a 5 under-par, 66 in the second round for a two-day total of 11 under-par. During today’s round, he made 1 bogey, 1 eagle and 4 birdies. Guillamoundeguy is just 18 years old, represents Golf Club Seignosse and he is a past winner on the Alps Tour having won the 2022 Red Sea Little Venice Openas an amateur. He turned professional in December 2022 and he is now competing in his first season as a professional player. So far this season he has captured various top 5 finishes but is looking to breakthrough and grab his 1^st title as a professional on the Alps Tour. After the second round, he was very content as he “it was a great round today. I didn’t play as well as yesterday but today was a great effort. The beginning of the day was a struggle as I was hitting some bad shots and quite unlucky in some situations which was hard but then on the 7^th hole, I made a clutch putt for birdie which gave me some good momentum.” Guillamoundeguy made an incredible eagle on the par 4, 9^th hole where: “My shot of the day was definitely on the 9^th where I hit a 4-iron to about 5 meters from the pin and made the putt for eagle.” He went on to add that: “I will try to catch the win tomorrow for sure. It would mean a lot but I don’t want to get too far ahead. I plan on playing like the past two days and see where I end up.”

Twenty-four years old, Bob Geurts from Netherlands who was tied for 2^nd place after yesterday’s 1^st round, now is a two-way tie for 3^rd place, only 1 stroke off the lead at the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera. He finds himself with a two-day total of 10 under-par after his 3 under-par, 68 in round 2 with 1 bogey and 4 birdies. He turned professional towards the end of last year and prior to this tournament, his best finish was an 11^th place at 2023 Gösser Open and at the 2023 Croara Alps Open. When he concluded his round, he commented that, “today was totally different than yesterday. There was much more wind but I still managed to play well and put myself in a good position. It could have been better if a few more putts dropped but overall, I’m happy. It definitely played a bit harder and I had to focus on what direction the wind was coming from.” Geurts went on to add that, “tomorrow I plan to just play my own game like I did the past two days and see if it will be good enough for the win.”

Italy’s Gianmaria Rean Trinchero shot an 8 under-par, 63 round today for a two-day total of 10 under-par and is tied for 3^rdplace alongside Geurts ahead of tomorrow’s final round at the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera. He is 28 years old and he represents Golf Club Monticello. During today’s round 2, he made 1 double bogey and 10 birdies.

In 5^th place with a two-day score of 9 under-par France’s Augustin Hole who shot a bogey-free 6 under-par, 65 in today’s round.

Final Round

A total of 46 players (42 professionals and 4 amateurs) made the cut which was set at -2 (140).

The final round of the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera will begin at 8:30 am local time from the 1^st& 10^th hole. The final group will tee off at 9:52 am local time from 1^st hole.

La Gomera, July 13^th 2023- Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney, winner of the 2023 Gösser Open, leads the field after a bogey-free 9 under-par 62 at the conclusion of the 1^st round at the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera. Belgium’s Kevin Hesbois, Netherland’s Bob Geurts and Italy’s Davide Buchi are in a three-way tie for 2^nd place at 7 under-par. Italy’s Davide Buchi made an unbelievable albatross on the 500 meters par 5, 3^rd hole. Just one shot back, at 6 under-par: France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy, Ireland’s Michael Young and Spanish amateur Jose Antonio Sintes Navarro.

On the beautiful Island De La Gomera, in the Canary Islands, the first round of the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomeraplayed at the beautiful Tecina Golf began at 8:20 am. This is the 4^th edition of the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps De La Gomera after its previous three editions which were hosted in 2018, 2019 and 2022. The players were able to compete under perfect weather conditions which favored good scoring opportunities as they began the tournament with sunny skies and minimal light winds.

Round 1 Player Quotes

Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney, 27 years old leads by 2 strokes after his great 1^st round at the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps de La Gomera. He shot a bogey-free, 9 under-par opening round. He currently sits in 2^nd place in the Order of Merit Rank and captured his 1^st full-field professional win at the 2023 Gösser Open which took place in May. He previously had played in some events in 2020 before the Covid-19 pandemic began but this is his 1^st full year on the Alps Tour. Mullarney turned professional in 2019 and competed in the 2022 Open Championship. After his performance, he commented: “I’m very pleased, I played nice and putted quite well. Today I was able to birdie a lot of the par 5s and one eagle which definitely helped. The course is nice, the practice putting green is different than the course so it took a little while to get used to while I got out there.” He added that he’s “usually fairly aggressive off the tees hitting a lot of drivers, and I plan to keep doing that the next two rounds and hopefully I keep putting well.”

Kevin Hesbois from Belgium, 32 years old who currently represents Ternesse Golf & Country Club, concluded his 1^st round with a 7 under-par, 64 and is one of the three players tied for 2^nd place only 2 strokes back. He made 1 eagle, 6 birdies and 1 bogey during his opening round. After his round, Hesbois commented on how well he played, “Today was fun and I obviously played well all day. On the front nine, I hit it close a couple times which helped create the momentum for the round. I was able to finish strong as well which is always nice when you have it going low.” Hesbois went on to add that: “course is really good. Conditions are good and promote low scoring. Wind was a small factor. The warmth was harder to manage. I have no real expectations this week. Just going to keep focusing on the right things. Only goal is to give myself as many birdie chances as possible and stay as patient as possible. Scores will take care of themselves.”

Netherland’s Bob Geurts, 24 years old is the second player tied for 2^nd place with a first-round score of 7 under-par. He turned professional towards the end of last year and prior to this week, his best finishes were a tie for 11^th place at the 2023 Gösser Open and at the 2023 Croara Alps Open. During today’s round, he made 1 eagle, 4 birdies and 1 bogey on the front nine and 1 bogey and 3 birdies on the back nine for a 64. After his round, Geurts was happy that he “hit the ball great and put myself in good spots to make birdies. It was a really solid day of golf. I tried to keep it simple and put a good round together.” He also commented that Tecina Golf “is great, it’s a relaxing and nice course. I love the layout and the fact that there wasn’t a lot of wind today was very fortunate.”

Twenty-six years old, Davide Buchi from Italy is the third player tied for 2^nd place after his opening bogey- free 7 under-par, 64. He currently represents Golf Club Varese and has gathered a couple of top 20 finishes so far this season. Buchi began his round with 2 birdies and an unbelievable albatross on the par 5, 3^rd hole in his first four holes. After his bogey-free round, Buchi happily commented that “I hit a great iron shot but I’d never thought that it would go in. It’s my first albatross of my career. It for sure gave me good momentum for the remaining of the round. I want to keep thinking about my own game and keep playing well like today. The course is in excellent conditions and the rough isn’t too high, therefor we will be able to go low.”

In the 3-way tie for 5^th place at 6 under-par: France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy, Ireland’s Michael Young and Spanish amateur Jose Antonio Sintes Navarro.

The highlight of the day belongs to Italy’s Davide Buchi who made an incredible albatross on the 500 meters par 5, 3^rd hole.

Round 2

The second round of the 2023 Fred.Olsen Alps de La Gomera will begin again at 8:20 am local time from the 1^st and 10^thhole. After round 2, a cut will be made to the top 40 players and ties.

The players are contending a prize fund of €40.000 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The winner will earn €5,800 and 6,525 Order of Merit points

The first-round leader, Ronan Mullarney will begin round 2 at 12:00pm local time from the 1^st hole.
