This is 2nd edition of the event, which was created last year to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the host golf course.
Paul McBride from Ireland leads by 2 shots at the end of round 2 at the 2023 Aravell Golf Open by Creand. He shot a 4 under-par, 67 in the first round and a fabulous 8 under-par, 63 in the 2nd round for a two-day total of 12 under-par. During today’s 2nd round, McBride made 4 birdies and 2 bogeys on the front nine and 6 birdies in the last 7 holes of the back nine. He is 27 years old and represents The Island Golf Club. After his very strong performance, McBride commented: “I played well on the front nine but made two bad mistakes which caused me the two bogeys I made. On the back nine, I got it going making 6 birdies in my last 7 holes, it hit it close quite a lot and my putting was very good. One of the shots I hit was to about 30 ft and I made the putt which was on the 15th hole which I would consider a bonus because the other were pretty close to the pins. Overall it was a good round and I’m definitely satisfied.” When asked about the final round tomorrow, he wants to “approach it the same way I approach my round today, I just want to keep playing my game and see what that leads me to at the end of the third round.”
Italy’s Manfredi Manica who was in 2nd place after a 8 under-par, 63 in round 1, shot a 2 under-par, 69 in round 2 for a two-day total of 10 under-par. He is in 2nd place, 2 shots from the lead. He is 27 years old, turned professional at the end of 2021 and currently represents Golf Nazionale. During today’s second round, he made 5 birdies and 3 bogeys. After his round, Manica happily commented that: “Today was definitely a good day, I can’t say otherwise. Of course, I am left with a bitter taste in my mouth about how it ended because I had gotten off to a really strong start! All in all, I can say I left myself a good chance heading into the final round!” When asked about the course conditions after the heavy rainfall, he “honestly found a little difference after the heavy thunderstorm. I mainly found that the greens were definitely softer than yesterday! However, the key component was definitely the wind which made my back nine very tough.” He has never won a tournament as a professional player before but has captured a few runner-up finishes. Manica’s expectations for the final round tomorrow “are definitely high heading into the final round tomorrow because especially with a season with not a lot of tournaments, you need to take advantage of opportunities when they happen!”
Oihan Guillamoundeguy from France 18 years old finds himself in 3rd place, 3 shots off after the 2nd round of the 2023 Aravell Golf Open by Creand with a two-day score of 9 under-par. He made 1 eagle, 3 birdies and 2 bogeys during today’s round for a 3 under-par, 68. He previously won on the Alps Tour as an amateur player but this is his first playing season as a professional golfer. After his 2nd round, Guillamoundeguy he found,“the course was softer than yesterday, I felt like the greens was slower so it made it more difficult to make some putts during the round. I’m still happy though as I had a tough start being +2 after 4 holes but then I managed to stay patient, get a good momentum and hole some putts to change my round.” When asked about trying to capture his first win as a professional, he added “I’m not thinking about the possible result of the round tomorrow, I’m more focused on my process and try to do my best and then I will see what happens. I hope tomorrow will be a good day but I will do my best and try to capture my 1st win as a Pro.” In 4th place with a two-day score of 8 under-par, round 1 leader, France’s Mathieu Prost.
