Nemecz took family revenge

Austria’s Tobias Nemecz won the 12th Open International du Haut-Poitou with one shot advantage at -11 over Jean-Pierre Verselin and current Alps Tour leader Italy’s Nino Bertasio. With this second win this season, Nemecz enters the top 5 of the ranking and could walk on his brother’s steps who graduated last year.
This was an epic finish. Thunderstorms delayed the second round and some players had to complete it this Sunday morning. But the troubles with the weather were not over. The fog forced the officials to find a solution to complete the tournament in time.
The last round was launched in shot gun format, this was the third time in the Alps Tour history after Masters 13 2005 and Mogador 2010. The tournament leader, Kenny Subregis, did not manage to handle the pressure to play for maiden win just for one week after turning pro. He finished at 16th position.
It was uneasy to follow what was going on on course as all the players were holing birdies together but the battle after 12 holes seemed to be between two Alps Tour winners, Nino Bertasio and Tobias Nemecz. Eventually, Nemecz managed to shot 69, 4 under par to win by one this special tournament for Nemecz’ family.
“I had my brother on the phone this morning and he reminded me that he lost here in a play-off. He asked me to take his revenge and I did! I am happy with it.”
The younger Nemecz with this win enters the Alps Tour top 5 and pushed away France’s Thomas Elissade at the worst place, 6th.

Subregis aims maiden win

Kenny Subregis, 18 years old, took the lead after he completed his 54 holes this morning in Open International du Haut-Poitou. The young man will be chased by England’s Matt Wallace just one shot back of the lead.
Subregis turned pro just before the first round and and found his way quite easily with this new status. After first card of 66, 7 under he scored 71 for second round despite he had to finish it this morning. Thunderstorms forced the officials to suspend the paly yesterday at 18h15 and the rookie with two holes to play eventually reach -9.
On his toes, England’s Matt Wallace with -8 and a group of 3 players, Raphaël Marguery, Gerard Piris and Tobias Nemecz.

England’s Matt Wallace is the club house leader when the play in Open International du Haut-Poitou was suspended. He recorded 71 today, 2 under par for -8 total.
France’s rookie Kenny Subregis is -8 as well but the 18 year old player has two holes to play to complete his second round. The play was suspended at 18H15 due to thunderstorms and one hour and half later officials decided to resume the second round on Sunday morning. Subregis has been leading by two or three all day but he dropped 3 shots on the par 4 sixth, his 15th hole.
A group of three players completed their round and are just one shot back of the club house leader: Spain’s Gerard Piris, Austrian Tobias Nemecz and France’s Raphaël Marguery.

French duo in command in France

French duo Clément Berardo and Kenny Subregis are leading fater opening round of Open International du Haut-Poitou 2014. Surbregis, who turned pro days ago and 28 year old player from Terre Blanche signed for a 66 seven under par card.
It is never a piece of cake to turn pro just before a tournament but the very young player, 18 year old, did not show any sign of stress today as he teed of as pro for the first time. Haut-Poituou golf course can be tricky, especially on greens and the teenager did more than well to tame the 18 holes. He holed nine birdies and one eagle whereas Berardo sunk seven birdies and an eagle as well.
Berardo is currently fifth at the Alps Tour ranking. He needs some points to secure his card for next year on Challenge Tour.
Defending champion, David Bobrowski shot 70, 3 under par and is already 4 shots back of the leaders.

Bobrowski captured maiden win

France’s David Bobrowski captured his maiden win in Open du Haut-Poitou after defeating Austria’s Lukas Nemecz on second extra hole.
Bobrowski, 23 year old, took early lead after second round. The Parisian does not play full time on Alps Tour and the question was, as he teed off for last round if his experience was enough to grab a win.
The young player played consitently and managed to score level par. The scores were not very low this last day. Only 8 players out of 45 broke par and among them Lukas Nemecz who signed for 70, -2.
The two men had to go into a play -off and the first hole, the 18th did not elect any winner so back to the tee, both players found the fairway. Nemecz played first but his ball stayed short on the green. Bobrowski hit the right place and had a 4 meter putt for birdie. Nemecz’s putt eventually finished on the edge of the hole and his opponent holed for birdie and to grab maiden win.

Bobrowski surged two shots clear

David Bobrowski surged on top of Open du Haut-Poitou leaderboard during second round. The 23 year old player from Paris area fired a brilliant 67, 6 under par to take the lead with -8 total.
Bobrowski has played his maiden season as pro in 2011 and recorded his best season during his rookie year, a top 16. He only played seven events this year and has made the cut 3 times.
England’s Steven Brown signed for same excellent score to eventually finished second by his own and be in contention for last round. Brown grabbed his maiden win in France last June and confirmed his new status with a second win in Italy end of August.
Overnight leader, Autria’s Lukas Nemecz is 3 shots back of the Frenchman as he dropped two shots on tricky par 3 16th.

Nemecz best in France

Austria’s Lukas Nemecz, first year as pro on the Alps Tour, shot 68 to lead by one stroke with -5 after opening round in Open du Haut Poitou.
France’s Nicolas Nier, roookie as well and Scot Kris Nicol took second place. A group of four players from Great Britain and Northern Ireland are looking to challenge the top of the leaderboard.
The conditions were perfect to play today and the 24 year old player from Austrian converted opportunities in birdies. Nemecz never missed a cut this season, he entered 12 events, and he managed to qualify last week for second stage of European Tour Q School.
“To play -5 is a nice start into the tournament. After struggling the first four holes I had a great comeback with a birdie-hattrick from 5-7 and luckily I kept on holing putts. The conditions were perfect during the afternoon and I’m looking forward to the next 2 rounds.”
