I was able to put a 7 under-par round together and today an 8 under-par leaving some shots behind.”  Romano added that he feels like he “needs to have a bit more self-confidence and consistency in his game to hopefully capture a win soon.”

Round 2 Player Quotes

An Alps Tour previous winner, Italy’s Luca Cianchetti makes 1 bogey and 11 birdies for a 10 under-par, 61 holding the tournament course record. He heads into tomorrow’s final round with a one-shot lead, and a two-day total of 12 under-par. He is 27 years old and represents Modena Golf & Country Club. Over the years, he earned various wins on the tour but his most recent victory occurred at the 2021 Red Sea Little Venice Open. He won a pro-am on this course a few years ago and feels at ease. After his round, Cianchetti was happy to comment: “Getting off to a good start hitting great shots the first 4 holes with 4 birdies in a row definitely allowed me to have good momentum for the remainder of the round. I had great feelings since the beginning of the day and I’m pleased to have taken advantage of them.” He now holds the tournament course record with his 10 under-par round, he is “very happy to have the tournament course record but more importantly I’m pleased because I felt really good on the course. I strongly believe that you need to be patient and believe on the things you are working on and then results will come. I’ve been playing well lately but I just needed to be patient for the right time.”Cianchetti’s single bogey of the day came on the 5th hole where, “I 3-putted missing a short putt. It can happen but luckily making that mistake allowed me to keep my focus very high.” He aims to capture another trophy tomorrow since it’s been a while from his last win but he “would like to try and not focus on the ultimate objective but take it as another round of golf where I will try and performance my best like today and see what happens.”

Round 1 Leader, Italy’s Ludovico Addabbo finds himself in a two-way tie for 2nd place only 1 stroke from the lead heading into the final round. He made 2 bogeys and 6 birdies today for a two-day total of 11 under-par. He is 24 years old and turned professional at the beginning of 2020 shortly before the Covid-19 pandemic began. After his round, Addabbo commented how today “I was really precise of the tee again today, I hit my irons shot less well but luckily always missed them on the correct side but very happy to say my putter is still solid even if I holed a few less putts. Overall, I’m still very pleased on how the round went.” When asked about the conditions playing in the morning compared to the afternoon he thought that “the course is playing very similar to my afternoon wave tee-time yesterday. There is little wind and the heat was the same.” When thinking about tomorrow’s final round, Addabbo’s plan is to “head into the round with the same strategy and the same plan, I want to be very solid off the tee and hit as many greens as possible and see what will happen on the 18th green”

Luca Galliano from Switzerland who was tied from 4th place after yesterday’s first round, is now the second player in the two-way tie for 2nd place heading into the final round. He made 4 birdies and 1 bogey on his front nine and 3 birdies on the back nine for a 6 under-par 65 round. After his 6 under-par round, Galliano is looking forward to tomorrow, “I made 3 birdies in a row to end my round from hole 15 to 17 which allows me to be in a very good position heading into tomorrow where I hope to be able to capture the trophy, which would be my first win in a few years. I will head into the round with the same feelings as today and same game plan which I’ve seen is working well.” He added that he was very pleased on how he “made a good birdie on the 1st hole which is always positive. I missed a few short birdie putts on the next few holes and unfortunately 3 putted the 5th hole for bogey and from there on I played very well.”

Scotland’s Callum Bruce, 24 years old who currently represents Duff House Royal Golf Club was tied for 23rd place after yesterday’s 1st round, now finds himself in a 4-way tie for 4th place. During today’s 2nd round, he made 1 eagle, 1 bogey, 6 birdies which 3 in a row for a 7 under-par, 64 and a two-day total of 9 under-par. He turned professional in 2023 and is playing his 1st season on the Alps Tour. Bruce commented following his 7 under-par round that he “got off to a really good front nine being able to birdie a few holes early on like 2 and 4 and then ended with an eagle on 9, the par 5. On the back nine, holes 10 to 15 was a bit quite but then I hit a close shot into 16 and got a good birdie in and on the 17th hole, I hit a great 3wood into the green to about 25ft and 2-putted that and holed a nice 20ft putt on the final hole for a good finish. I tried to stayed patient, there is a lot of birdie chances on this course but just because you don’t birdie the holes everyone else does, doesn’t mean you can’t birdie the rest.” He also spoke about how he likes Croara Country Club“The course is great, it’s in really good conditions and the greenkeeping staff did a fantastic job preparing it for us. I’ve spoken to other players and we are all enjoying the event being here.”  Heading into tomorrow’s final round only a few strokes off the lead, Bruce added, “tomorrow I will just keep playing the way I’ve played the past two days, not much has changed in terms of the weather I believe so the game plan I decided at the beginning of the week seems to be working so I’ll continue to do that and as long as I give myself chances tomorrow should be fun and I look forward to it.”

Alongside Bruce in the 4-way tie for 4th place with a two-day total of 9 under-par there is French duo: Benjamin Kedochimand Nicolas Peyrichou as well as Italian amateur Flavio Michetti.

A total of 55 players (47 professionals and 8 amateurs) made the cut which was set at -1 (141).

He shot an 8 under-par round 64 today with 6 birdies on the front nine holes and 2 on the back nine. “When I got to the golf course this morning and saw my friend and fellow Legends Tour player, Clark Dennis at the top of the leaderboard, that was my motivation to get me going and play well.  I had a lot of opportunities on the back which just stayed on the edge but I’m happy with my par save on the 18th hole.” Morland IV is very happy to be playing this week against a younger field, “It’s great for the game of golf, if we can pass anything to them and they can learn anything us from its great.”

Italy’s Luca Cianchetti, a multiple winner of the Alps Tour is two shots of the lead with a round of 6 under-par 66. He was very consistent throughout his round with 3 birdies on the front 9 holes and 3 birdies on the back 9 holes. Cianchetti’s last win was at the 2021 Red Sea Little Venice Open.  After his round, he said: “I am very happy with the way I played and the direction my game is going in. I think the course is in great conditions and greens are really good and fast.”

It is a very enjoyable course to play, not the hardest but not the easiest either. This year we have slightly different conditions than we are used to but I think they are at an advantage for us longer hitters.” Porsius has kept his expectations low after missing a couple of cuts but is now playing well and hopes to capture a win as quickly as possible.

14th April 2022 | Alps Tour Golf

It’s a two-way tied for the lead entering the Final Round at Miglianico Golf and Country Club.

Pescara, April 14th, 2022  Another beautiful day for the second round of the 2022 Abruzzo Alps Open. The event is organized by the Italian Pro Tour, a branch of the Italian Golf Federation which promotes all golf professional events played in Italy. The groups that teed off in the early part of the morning wave had beautiful blue skies with slightly chillier temperatures that warmed up for the rest of the field to be a beautiful spring day.

There is a two-way tied for the lead entering the final round at Miglianico Golf. Netherland’s Vince Van Veen is co-leading with Italy’s Gregorio De Leo with a two-day total of 10 under-par. Round 1 leader, Koen Kouwenaar is 1 stroke back of our current leaders with a two-day total of 9 under-par.

After a beautiful 7 under-par round 63 in the morning wave, Vince Van Veen was pleased to comment “My game was heading in the right direction. I’ve been playing consistently for a while now and was just waiting for a lower number to come and I’m happy it came today. I made a lot of clutch putts today. I’m going to keep doing the same thing and see what happens tomorrow.” His round today included 8 birdies and a single bogey for a two-day total of 10 under-par.

Gregorio De Leo, who had a stellar bogey-free 8 under-par round 62 today was happy with comment on how is short game helped him score a low round today,“Today was good day. My short game and putting were fundamental for today’s score. I made 5 consecutive birdies and most of them thanks to my short game. I’ve worked a lot these past two weeks on that area of my game and I was happy to witness the results today of the hard work”

Italy’s Luca Cianchetti who is a past winner at Miglianico Golf and Country Club, shot a 2 under-par round 68 today with 3 bogeys and 5 birdies and is currently 3 shots off the lead. Cianchetti won this event as an amateur in 2015 with a total score of 11 under par. After his round today he states, “I played consistent but not great these past two days. I putted well and made some good recoveries with my short game. Today is windier than yesterday with harder pin so scores might be a little higher. Miglianico is a golf course I like and enjoy where you can have fun.”

A total of 44 players made the cut which was set a 2 under-par, 42 professional players and 2 amateur players.

The Final Round of the 2022 Abruzzo Alps Open, will begin tomorrow at 8:10 from hole 1 and 10. The winner of the 2022 Abruzzo Alps Open, will earn €5,800 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.

Cianchetti goes wire-to-wire and celebrates third Alps Tour win

The last round of the 9th edition of the Red Sea Little Venice Open at Sokhna GC, in Egypt, was coloured in green-white-and-red like the Italian flag, when Luca Cianchetti from Modena confirmed his great form of the past two days and finished the tournament at 200 (-16) topping the leader board again and seizing the first prize with a two-strokes margin over fellow compatriots Jacopo Vecchi Fossa and Ludovico Addabbo, tied second at 202 (-14).

With today’s 64 (-8) – best round of the day, signed also by Irishman David CareyVecchi Fossa, 26, from Reggio Emilia, climbed seven positions from yesterday’s T9th place and regained the leadership of the Order of Merit that he had briefly conceded last week to Spaniard Angel Hidalgo, now in 2nd spot. Ludovico Addabbo, 22, from Rome, proved to himself he can hold his nerves under pressure and has all the abilities to compete at a higher level, as he started the day as 2nd and in the last group, and never lost his focus, with 4 birdies and just 1 bogey at the turn on hole 10, for a 69 (-3) and a total -14, two strokes better than experienced Frenchman Julien Foret, who dropped two spots and finished 4th at 204 (-12).

“I am super happy for this win”, said Cianchetti, 25, who can boast two more success in Alps Tour tournaments, the first when still an amateur, in the 2015 Abruzzo Open, and the second in the 2019 Katameya Dunes Open in Cairo. “I didn’t really expect it after the first tournament here where I missed the cut, but after the 62 in the opening round I gained a lot of confidence. It was a difficult day because I was a bit nervous in the beginning and I had a bogey 5 on the 2nd hole and a double bogey 5 on hole n. 4, but little by little I found my focus back and I managed to keep calm and play my game, so I started holing some putts and making some birdies, including four in a row from 11 to 14”. The bogey 5, missing a short putt on the last hole was irrelevant as his margin was already comfortable enough to secure his third Alps Tour title and climbing the Order of Merit up to the 5th place. “Of course I like Egypt, as I already won in Cairo two years ago, and it is a bonus to share the podium here with two other Italian guys who are also friends of mine”.

The Egypt Swing is now in the books. The Alps Tour schedule will resume next month in France with the 18th edition of the Open de La Mirabelle d’Or at Golf de La Grange aux Ormes, in Metz, June 11-13.

Italian Cianchetti still topping the leader board at -14

It was another good day at the office for overnight leader Luca Cianchetti. After sealing the new course record 62 (-10) yesterday at Sokhna GC (A+B courses), the Italian has kept the top of the leader board after adding a 68 (-4) in the second round of the Red Sea Little Venice Open for a total 130 (-14) and therefore gaining a comfortable 3-strokes margin over fellow compatriot Ludovico Addabbo and Frenchman Julien Foret, both sitting at 133 (-11).

Today it was a bit more difficult for me, but I expected that”, said Cianchetti, 25, who is attached to Bologna GC. “After such a good round you need to completely reset, and I think I kind of made it right. Even though I did not play as well as yesterday, I was able to make good use of any birdie chance I had. I have made a few more mistakes and three bogeys (on holes 1, 2 & 5), but on a positive note I closed with three birdies in a row in the last five holes (from hole 6 to 8). My putting was still decent today while my long game was more erratic than yesterday. Tomorrow I will need to reset it all again, and think shot by shot”.

Julien Foret, 38, scored the best result of the day, a bogey-free 64 (-8) carded with 10 pars and 8 birdies equally distributed on front and back nine. “A good day for me obviously, where I could mark lots of birdies and, even better, no bogeys, which is always good news. I had the chance to hole many putts, and I think I have also taken advantage of the weather with my tee time at 8:10, as this morning it was probably less windy than the afternoon”.

Ludovico Addabbo, 22, from Rome, is playing in his second season on the Alps Tour after gaining his card at the 2019 Qualifying School. Last season was a disappointing one for him and led to a return to the QSchool where he got a conditional card with category 8. After missing the cuts in the first 3 tournaments of the 2021 season, Ludovico has put his game on the right track and scored a 13th and a 14th place. Now, with today’s round in 65 (-7) with one eagle, 8 birdies and 3 bogeys, he hopes to sensibly improve his record and fill that 3-strokes gap with the leader.

50 players made the cut at -1, including 8 amateurs. The final round will start tomorrow at 7:00, with the leader’s team off at 8:28 from hole 1.

Cianchetti leads with course record 62 (-10)

Only one day of rest after the end of the Ein Bay Open, just the time for some fine-tuning training and another Covid-test check for all – players, staff, caddies and coaches, all negative – and today the 120 contenders of the Egypt Swing went back to work with new energy to compete in the 9th edition of the Red Sea Little Venice Open, taking place on a different mix of the Sokhna Golf Club (the A+B courses).

With less aggressive temperatures than a few days ago, and a pleasant breeze from the North, Italian Luca Cianchetti grabbed the spotlight as he signed a new course record 62 (-10), with 8 birdies and 1 eagle, leaving his nearest contender – Spaniard Dani Berna – three strokes back, at 65 (-7), and Englishman Bradley Bawden in third position at 66 (-6).

I made just one mistake today”, said Cianchetti of his bogey-free round, “but it was on the good side, so I made a birdie anyway. I managed to keep calm and focussed the whole round, not getting caught up in the heat or trying to overdo it, I played my game and that led to a minus 10”.

I’m happy about how I’ve putted today, 28 putts in all, and from the tee I hit 10 fairways, which is good”, said the 25-year-old from Modena, winner of the 2019 Katameya Dunes Open. “This season has started better for me than the last one when I did not play well and finished 46th in the Order of Merit, just inside the cut line to retain my card for 2021. I had a top-ten at the Abruzzo Open last month, and a couple of other good tournaments. I arrived here in Egypt trusting my game, but my putting was disappointing last week, and I missed the cut. Today I found back the right feeling with the putter and it certainly was the best part of my game, together with the long game as I was always pretty close to the pin – the longest putt I’ve made was from 7 metres. Of course, I did not expect to shoot 10 under, but I knew I was playing well and was just waiting for a good score, which obviously arrived today!”.

A total of 54 players shot under par, and among them Swiss Mathias Eggenberger who made a hole-in-one on hole n. 9 (par 3, 186 mt) with his 6-iron, and with a total of 68 (-4) is sharing the 8th position with six more colleagues.

Tomorrow the second round of the Red Sea Little Venice Open will start at 7:00 and at the end of the day the top 40 and ties, plus amateurs within the cut line, will be admitted to the third, final round.
