Lars Keunen maintains his lead after 2 rounds at the 2022 Fred.Olsen Alps de La Gomera.
La Gomera, July 15th 2022- First round leader, Netherland’s Lars Keunen maintains his lead following the second round of the 2022 Fred.Olsen Alps de La Gomera. He has a two-day total of 13 under-par. In a tie for 2nd place at 10 under-par only 3 shots back, three of this season previous winners: Koen Kouwenaar, Stefano Mazzoli and Tom Vaillant (am). In a tie for 5th place, Netherland’s Vince Van Veen.
It was another gorgeous day at La Gomera, the second-smallest main island of the Canary Islands, host of the 2022 Fred.Olsen Alps de La Gomera. The tournament played at the beautiful Tecina Golf began at 8:30 this morning under sunny skies. The scoring conditions were more favorable in the morning thanks to the slight breeze while in the afternoon, the conditions were more complicated due to a stronger persistent wind.
Round 2 Player Quotes-
First round leader, Netherland’s Lars Keunen maintains a 3 strokes lead heading into the final round of the tournament. He shot a 5 under-par,66 today for a two-day total of 13 under-par. His round toady included 4 birdies, 1 eagle and 1 bogey. After his round, Lars commented that his game “was pretty similar to yesterday, I unfortunately holed a few less putts. Today was definitely windier so it was slightly trickier. Tomorrow I will approach it like any other round, knowing that I have some good players only a few shots behind so I will definitely have to go low.” When asked what a win would mean to him, being 16th in the rankings, Lars responded “a win would be really great, I definitely need it but if it doesn’t happen tomorrow I know it will happen at some point but at least I’ll be able to move up in the ranking.”
Koen Kouwenaar, winner of the 2022 Molinetto Alps Open, is in a three-way tie for 2nd place at 10 under-par heading into tomorrow’s round. He shot the lowest round of the day with a fantastic 8 under-par 63. Being a past winner and currently 4th in the Order of Merit, he would like to add another title to his record which would move him up in the rankings securing him a spot for next year’s Challenge Tour. During today’s round, he made 6 birdies and 1 bogey on the front nine and 2 birdies, 1 eagle and a bogey on the back nine. After his round Koen commented on how today “there was definitely less wind than yesterday and from the afternoon, however the wind today was the opposite direction compared to yesterday. For example, today on the par 5,3rd yesterday I easily reached it in 2 and today I wasn’t able to reach it. Today the pins were slightly easier today compared to yesterday. There were some tricky ones for sure.” He also said that “My putter was very hot today especially on the back nine where on 15,16 and 17 I holed some nice long putts. I’m very happy with my -8 for today especially the way I stand. My game has improved a lot in the past few weeks as I’m avoiding a lot of big misses. On this golf course, distance control from the rough is very hard so I’m glad to be in the fairway for most of the day.” When asked about his strategy for tomorrow, Koen explained: “tomorrow I just want to be objective in the way I play, just do my thing. Don’t get distracted and be mentally very flat and not influenced by how my score is evolving throughout the round.”
Italy’s Stefano Mazzoli, who won the first event of the season, the 2022 Ein Bay Open is the second player tied for 2ndplace at 10 under-par. He shot 31 on the front nine and 34 on the back nine for a 6 under-par, 65 today. After his round, he explained that he played “well both days so far. I struggled both day scoring on the back nine even if I’m played really well. On the front nine my game was very solid both days. I missed some yardages on the back due to the wind. Tomorrow I need to take advantage of the short holes and the par 5 on the front nine. Also it’s important to maintain the ball in the fairway as distance control from the rough is tricky on this course.”
French amateur, Tom Vaillant two-time winner this season, and 2nd in the current ranking is looking to add a third title to his season. He is the third player who is tied with a two-day total of 10 under-par heading into the final round tomorrow. Tom made 8 birdies and 1 bogey during his second round. At the conclusion of his 7 under-par round, he mentioned “my game is great, I’m feeling really good and I think this course is a very good fit for me. Today was definitely windier for me compared to yesterday. Tomorrow I will approach the course with the same strategy than the past two days and we will see what happens.” He also added that his plan to change his playing status from amateur to professional should occur at the end of this year.
In 5th place at 9 under-par, Netherland’s Vince Van Veen. There is a 6-way tie for 6th place just one stroke back that includes: Gary Hurley, Davey Porsius and Julien Sale (am).
Final Round-
The final round of the 2022 Fred.Olsen Alps de La Gomera, will begin at 8:30 am from hole 1 and hole 12.
A total of 49 players made the cut which was set at even par (142). The leaders will tee off at 9:47 am from the 1st hole. The winner of the 2022 Fred.Olsen Alps de la Gomera, will earn the winner’s check of €5,800 and 6,525 very important Order of Merit points.

The players head back to the Canary Islands for the 2022 Fred Olsen Alps de la Gomera.
La Gomera, July 12th 2022- The tour heads back to the Canary Islands this week for the 2022 Fred Olsen Alps de la Gomera. The tournament will be played at the iconic Tecina Golf from July 14th-16th. On July 13th, approximately 20 teams will participate in the traditional best ball aggregate to par pro-am. This will be the 3rd edition of the 2022 Fred Olsen Alps de la Gomera after its previous two editions hosted in 2018 and 2019. La Gomera has been a European destination for professional golf for the past 11 years, including hosting the Challenge Tour for 8 consecutive years.
As we are head towards the final stretch of the with the remaining 4 events, players are competing for important Order of Merits points. At the end of the season the top 5 players in the rank will gain access to the 2023 Challenge Tour season.
The Field-

Current Order of Merit Leader and most recent winner Italy’s Gregorio De Leo will not be in the field this week as he is taking a week off, however France’s Tom Vaillant (am) who is a two-time winner this season and second in the rank, as well as France’s Julien Sale (am) who is currently third in the rank will compete to try and secure their Challenge Tour status for next year.
There are 11 different nationalities represented among the estimated 85 players scheduled to play this week. The players will contend for a prize fund of € 40.000 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The tournament winner will earn €5,800 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.
The most recent tournament defending champion is Gonzalo Vicente Elena who won in 2019 with a score of 14 under-par.
The format of the tournament is a 54 holes stroke play and a cut will be made after 36 holes to the top 40 players and ties.

The Course-
Tecina Golf will be played as a 6343 meters par 71 course. The course was designed by British architect Donald Steel, and is situated on the hill of Lomada de Tecina specifically on the Canary Island of La Gomera, which was declared a World Biosphere Reserve in 2012. The course overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and all the 18 holes are played facing the ocean. To reach the 1st tee, the players will need to climb up the hill and the course is played downhill from there. The course is set in the middle of a native Canary Islands vegetation such as banana and mango fruit trees succumbing to an unbelievable ambiance.

The players head back to France for the 2022 Hauts de France-Pas de Calais Golf Open mixed event.
St.Omer, June 28th 2022– The tour heads to back to the Northern part of France this week for the 2022 Hauts de France- Pas de Calais Golf Open co-sanctioned event. Being a co-sanctioned tournament with the LET Access Series, the field will be split between the players belonging to the Alps Tour as well as the LETAS. The tournament will be played from Thursday 30th June until Saturday 2nd July at Aa Saint-Omer Golf Club near Saint-Omer, France.
On Wednesday 29th June, the traditional shotgun pro-am will take place with approximately 26 teams. The pro-am professional field will also be split in half between the Alps Tour players and the LET Access Series players.
It is the first time that this event will be part of the Alps Tour schedule. In previous years, it was a MasterCard Tour event, a European Challenge Tour event, and a DP World Tour event.
The Field-
The majority of this season’s previous winners will be competing for the 2022 Hauts de France- Pas de Calais Golf Open title which include: Italy’s Gregorio De Leo, Netherland’s Koen Kouwenaar and Spain’s Manuel Morugan. French amateur Julien Sale, currently 2nd in the Order of Merit rank will also be competing alongside the rest of top 10 players in the rank except for current leader Tom Vaillant and 5th place holder Gary Hurley.
In an effort to affirm the golf club support for disabled golfers Adem Wahbi, one of the finishers of the Pas de Calais Paragolf Open, hosted in the spring at this golf course, will be in the field alongside the Alps and LETAS players.
Ukrainian amateur Lev Grinberg, who at 14 years old broke the record as the youngest player to ever make the cut at a DP World Tour will be participating. Grinberg currently resides in Belgium and trains in Florida during the winters. He has made numerous headlines throughout his young amateur career. When he was 13 years old, he advanced to the final Stage of US Open qualifying and looked to become the youngest to ever compete in a major championship. Unfortunately, he ultimately was unable to play and had to withdraw from the event.
There are 16 different nationalities represented among the 84 players this week. The players will be competing for a prize fund of € 40.000 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The winner of the 2022 Hauts de France- Pas de Calais Golf Openwill earn €6,400 and 6,525 Order of Merit points. The format of the tournament is a 54 holes stroke play where a cut will be made after 36 holes to the top 35 players and ties.
The Course-
Aa Saint-Omer Golf Club is located in Saint-Omer, France and opened in 1990. It is the only golf course in France that was designed by Dutch golfer, Joan Dudok van Heel. The course is a 6182 meter, par 71 course. It is placed in the middle of a natural site, with spectacular views of the Valley of the Aa. The course has an undulating terrain and is surrounded by trees that offer various different challenges to each player. Aa Saint-Omer Golf Club is ranked among the top 30 courses in Northern France. It is home to 27 holes: an 18 holes championship course and a 9 holes course which is ideal for beginners and players wanting to improve their short game.
It has hosted an annual professional tournament since 1997 belonging to different tours. In 2000 it became part of the European Challenge Tour. In 2003 it became an official DP World Tour event, however it was soon removed from the European Tour in 2014 as it was played the same week as the US Open. Thus, remained a Challenge Tour event until this year where it’s now a co-sanctioned Alps Tour and LETAS tournament.

The Tour heads to Andalucía for the 12th event of the season.
Ayamonte, June 21st 2022- The tour heads to the south of Spain, near the Spanish- Portugal border for the 12th event of the season, the 2022 Alps de Andalucía. The event will be played at Isla Canela Golf Club, specifically on the Valle Guadiana Links course in Huelva, Ayamonte, Spain from June 23rd until June 25th. On Wednesday June 22nd, the traditional pro-am will occur. This year will be the 10th edition of the Alps de Andalucía, even though it is the first time it will be played at this golf course. Past winners of this event are now DP World Tour players, for example Lucas Vacarisas, winner in 2020.
The Field-
A strong field is expected this week for the 2022 Alps de Andalucía. All of the current Top 10 players in the Order of Merit rank are scheduled to compete, including the current leader and most recent back-to-back winner, French amateur Tom Vaillant. His most recent win at the 2022 Aravell Golf Open by Crèdit Andorrà has moved him into the lead of the Order of Merit rank with a 5,457.66 points advantage over Netherland’s Koen Kouwenaar. Joining the top 10 Order of Merit players are all of this season past winners, except for Markus Brier, winner of the 30th Gösser Open.
There are 18 different nationalities represented among the estimated 140 players scheduled to play this week. The players are competing to earn a spot in the top 5 Order of Merit rank which at the end of the season, will give them access to the 2023 Challenge Tour. The Course-
Valle Guadiana Links by Isla Canela is a 6540 meters par 72 course, inaugurated in 2007 and designed by José Canales. The course is located on the left bank of the Guadiana River, which serves as the border between Spain and Portugal. The golf course is integrated into a Nature Reserve and part of the Costa Esuri Urbanization, in the city of Ayamonte in the heart of the Spanish Algarve. There are some spectacular views especially from the tee shot on the 7th hole.
The course is characterized by its wide fairways and Bermuda greens. It has a typical American golf architecture with a distinguished links style. The front nine holes of the course run through the estate with a large presence of pine trees. However, on the back nine the landscape opens where there is almost no vegetation and the holes run parallel to the river giving it a links style characteristic to the course. The prevailing winds from the Guadiana River makes it very unpredictable for the players.
It is sure to be a compelling week where players will be subject to a new course, and its subsequent conditions.

The tour heads to Spain for the inaugural Aravell Golf Open by Crèdit Andorrà.
Aravell, June 14th 2022– The Alps Tour heads to Northeastern part of Spain this week for the inaugural Aravell Golf Open by Crèdit Andorrà. The tournament will be played from Thursday 16th June until Saturday 18th June at Aravell Golf & Country Club near Aravell, Lleida, Spain.
There will be two pro-am played this week: the opening pro-am will be played on Wednesday 15th June with an estimated 25 teams participating and the closing pro-am will be played on Sunday 19th June with an estimated 25 teams including the winner of the inaugural event.
This is the first time that Aravell Golf & Country Club will host a European professional golf event. This tournament was also created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the golf course.
The Field-
All of this season previous winners except for Markus Brier, winner of the 30th Gösser Open, will be competing for the inaugural Aravell Golf Open by Crèdit Andorrà title. French amateur, Tom Vaillant winner of the last Alps Tour tournament and currently 2nd in the Order of Merit, will be in the field this week. In addition, Koen Kouwenaar who is currently the highest-ranked player in the Order of Merit, will also be competing alongside the top 10 players in the rank except for Conor Purcell.
There are 19 different nationalities represented among the estimated 136 players. The players will be competing for a prize fund of € 40.000 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The winner of the inaugural 2022 Aravell Golf Open by Crèdit Andorrà will earn €5,800 and 6,525 Order of Merit points. The tournament is a 54 holes stroke play where a cut will be made after 36 holes to the top 40 players and ties.
The Course-
Aravell Golf & Country Club is located in Aravell, Leida, Spain only 15 km from the Andorra Principality and 5km from La Seu d’Urgell. It is an 18-hole course designed by José María Olazábal, a two-times Masters Champion. The course will be played as a 6155 meters, Par 71. It is located in a large valley, with an altitude of 700 meters above sea level. The course has beautiful views of the Pyrenees as well as the Cadí mountains. Aravell Golf & Country Club is a compact and fun layout course, with narrow fairways, relatively small greens and spacious rough making it a challenging course for the players.

The tournament this week is promoted and organized by Spain’s José Manuel Lara. A former DP World Tour player with two victories (Hong Kong in 2006) and (Austrian Golf Open in 2010) in his professional career.

The Alps Tour heads to France for the Open de la Mirabelle D’Or.
Metz, June 8th 2022– After a week off, the tour moves to the Northeastern Grand Est Region in France for the Open International de la Mirabelle D’Or. The tournament will be played from June 10th until June 12th at Golf Domaine de la Grange Aux Ormes near Metz, France. On June 9th, the traditional pro-am with 40 teams will be played.
The tournament has reached its 19th edition this year, however it has been part of the Alps Tour schedule since 2005. The event has had various winners over the years, including Italy’s Lorenzo Gagli and Spain’s Alejandro Del Rey who are now DP World Tour Players. The current defending champion is France’s Franck Medale who won in 2021 with a score of 14 under-par. On May 30th, a qualifier event was played at the tournament host, Golf Domaine de la Grange Aux Ormes, that offered players the opportunity to qualify for the extra 7 available spots in this week’s event.
The Field-
Participating in this week’s field is current Order of Merit Leader, Netherland’s Koen Kouwenaar in addition to the other top 8 players in the current rank: Gregorio De Leo, Stefano Mazzoli, Tomas Bessa Guimaraes, Pierre Pineau, amateur Julien Sale, Mathias Eggenberger and amateur Tom Vaillant, all of whom are trying to capture the 2022 Open de La Mirabelle D’Or title.
It is sure to be a very compelling week to watch as all of this season’s previous winners except for Marcus Brier, winner of the 30th Gösser Open, are scheduled to compete. As each player strives to capture their second season win, they will also strive to improve their current position in the Order of Merit rank. Current defending champion, France’s Franck Medale will be one of the many French players representing their country at the 19th Open International de la Mirabelle D’Or, as a strong home field is expected.
Seven players were able to qualify at the qualifier that was held on May 30th, 4 of which are professional players and 3 amateur players. The qualifier was won by Thomas Dorier with a score of 63.
There will be 144 players from 20 different nationalities competing for a prize fund of €40,000 and 45,000 points. The winner of the 2022 Open International de la Mirabelle D’Or will earn € 5,800 and 6,525 Order of Merit points. It is a 54 holes stroke play tournament where a cut will be made after 36 holes to the top 40 players and ties.
The Course-
Golf Domaine de la Grange Aux Ormes in Metz, France is a 6436 meters par 70 course. Designed by Philippe Gourdon, it is placed on an undulating terrain that offers various different challenges to each player. The golf course is outlined by century old trees and water hazards, yet provides views of the surrounding countryside as well as of Val Messin. The château in the background is the estate’s signature view. The fairways are relatively broad but the dense rough can penalize any inconsistent tee shot. Golf Domaine de la Grange Aux Ormes is home to 27 holes, an 18 holes course called “Le Bois Brûlé” and a 9 holes course called “Le Breuil”. “Le Bois Brûlé” has been the longtime host of this tournament.

The 8th edition of the Memorial Giorgio Bordoni is ready to get underway.
Como, May 23rd 2022– After a week off, the tour returns to the Northwestern part of Italy for the 8th edition of the Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by Aon. The event will be played at Golf Club La Pinetina near Como, Italy from Wednesday 25th May until Friday 27th May. On Tuesday 24th May, the traditional best ball aggregate to par pro-am with 25 teams will take place.
This event is named and dedicated to highly acclaimed golf instructor, Giorgio Bordoni who unexpectedly passed away at the age of 48 in 2013. In 1991 he was one of the founders of the Blue Team Golf Academy, a unique and innovative initiative in the world of coaching. He worked many years for the Italian Golf Federation as a National Coach earning many accomplishments during his career.
The tournament has reached its 8th edition this year and has been a consistent stop on the Alps Tour schedule since 2014, except for 2020 when the event wasn’t played due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Field-
This tournament has some notable past champions. The first edition of the tournament was won by Spain’s Borja Virto in 2014, while Spain’s Sebastian Garcia Rodriguez came to victory in 2019. Another Spanish victory occurred in 2021 with the current defending champion Angel Hidalgo Portillo winning with a total score of 14 under-par. Meanwhile current DP World Tour player, Italy’s Guido Migliozzi triumphed in 2018. From 2015 to 2018 the tournament was won by Italian players: Marco Crespi, Stefano Pitoni, Guido Migliozzi and Andrea Perrino all of whom have been able to honor their fellow colleague, Giorgio Bordoni with their victories.
The majority of this seasons past winners that include: Italy’s Stefano Mazzoli currently 2nd in the Order of Merit, France’s amateur Oihan Guillamoundeguy and Portugal’s Tomas Bessa Guimaraes currently 3rd in the Order of Merit will be competing for the 8th Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by Aon title. However, two of this season’s past champions will not be playing, Markus Brier, the winner at the 30th Gösser Open and Koen Kouwenaar the winner at the 2022 Molinetto Alps Open and the current Alps Tour Order of Merit Leader.
There will be 144 players competing for a prize fund of €40,000 and 45,000 points. The winner of the 8th Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by Aon will earn € 5,800 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.
The Course-
Golf Club La Pinetina in Como, Italy is a very undulating 5761 meters par 70 course. It was designed by Harris Albertini Mezzalane and opened for play in 1971. It offers beautiful panoramic views of the nearby landscape that include the view of Monte Rosa which is the second highest mountain in Italy.
Golf Club La Pinetina covers 70 hectars in the Appiano Gentile Pine Forest, rich of pine trees, oak and chestnut trees as well as Scotch pine and birch trees. It’s not a particularly long course, however the complex course design situated on a very hilly terrain, requires accuracy and precise strategy from each player. Thanks to the natural layout of this golf course, players will find notable holes that will allow this course to stand out from the rest.

Austria’s Markus Brier wins the 30th anniversary of the Gösser Open
Graz, May 14th, 2022 –The Final Round of the 30th Gösser Open began at 8:30 from hole 1 and 10. The final group that included, two Legends Tour players, Austria’s Markus Brier and America’s Clark Dennis with Round 2 leader Lukas Lipold teed off at 9:47 from the 1st hole. It was a beautiful spring day with optimal scoring conditions for the players, at Golf Club Erzherzog Johann in Maria Lankowitz. This course has hosted the Gösser Open since 2000.
Legends Tour player, Austria’s Markus Brier won by one shot on the 18th hole over his compatriot Lukas Lipold. One shot back, there was a three-way tied at 16 under-par : Italy’s Andrea Saracino, Austria’s Lukas Lipold and fellow Legends Tour player American Clark Dennis. This is the third time that Markus Brier wins the Gösser Open, his previous wins were in 1994 and 1995.
Koen Kouwenaar, remains the current Alps Tour Order of Merit leader. He has a 3,399.39 points advantage over Italy’s Stefano Mazzoli who is still in second place.

Legends Tour player, Markus Brier, won by 1 shot the 30th Gösser Open celebrating another home success for Austria. He is a previous winner of this tournament in 1994 and 1995 when it was still played at its previous host, Steiermärkische Golf Club Murhof. Brier shot a 6 under-par round for an overall 17 under-par. He turned professional in 1995 and he is a multiple winner on the Challenge Tour as well as the European Tour. Brier was very happy after his round today, “This is probably the most surprising victory I have celebrated in my professional career. The key to success today was that I got into a good rhythm very quickly and made a lot of birdies on the first nine holes.” He was really pleased about the victory today especially after not having played well the week before at the Legends Tour event at Murhof Golf Club.
Andrea Saracino who finished in a tied for 2nd place, just one shot back, had a final round, 6 under-par 66 that included 1 eagle, 6 birdies and 2 bogeys. After his solid performance this week, Saracino has now moved to 19th in the Alps Tour Order of Merit. He turned professional in 2017 and hopes to move up in the Alps Tour Order of Merit to regain his Challenge Tour card.
Austria’s Lukas Lipold who unfortunately bogeyed the 18th hole to finish in a tied for 2nd, had 5 birdies and 3 bogeys in today’s round for a 2 under-par. Lipold turned professional at the end of 2019, this is his 3rd season as a professional player and he hopes to qualify for the Challenge Tour.
In his final round, Clark Dennis shot a 5 under-par 67 with 1 eagle, 4 birdies and 1 bogey finishing tied for 2nd. Dennis turned professional in 1986 and has played on the Nationwide Tour, on the PGA Tour, and currently plays on the Legends Tour as well as the Champions Tour. He was very pleased with his result this week in preparation for `his participation in the Senior PGA Championship in a few weeks.
Final Round-
Markus Brier, winner of the 30th Gösser Open, earned € 6,162.50. There was a three-way tied for second place at 16 under-par that included, Clark Dennis, Andrea Saracino and Lukas Lipold.

The Tour heads to Austria for the 30th Gösser Open.
Graz, May 10th 2022– The tour heads to Graz, Austria this week for the 30th Gösser Open. This will be the eighth event of the 2022 season and will be played at Golf Club Erzherzog Johann in Maria Lankowitz from Thursday May 12thuntil Saturday May 14th. On Wednesday May 11th, the traditional Pro-Am will take place with 32 teams on the course.
This year we celebrate the 30th edition of the Gösser Open. The event began in 1993 at Steiermärkischer Golf Club Murhof and in 2000 moved to Erzherzog Johann GC, now its permanent host location. A year later, in 2001 when the Alps Tour was founded, the Gösser Open became part of the Alps Tour, and has been a regular event on the schedule since then. This event has become the most traditional professional golf tournament played in Austria.
The Field-
This week, there will be 150 players competing from 17 different nationalities for the title. The players in the field will be playing for a prize fund of €42,500 and 45,000 points.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the event, the promoter has invited five players from the Legends Tour to take part in this special edition. Clark Dennis, Markus Brier, David Morland IV, David Shacklady and Peter Wilson who all played last week (May 6th-8th) at the nearby Legends Tour tournament at Golf Club Murhof will be competing this week.
Some notable players have won this tournament including England’s Matt Wallace in 2016 with a score of 20 under-par. Furthermore, since its inaugural year in 1993, a number of Austrian players have triumphed. The latest Austrian player to have won the tournament for the second time, was Lukas Nemecz in 2020 with a score of 17 under-par. Besides Nemecz, Austria’s Timon Baltl has also been a past Gösser Open winner. He was able to earn his Challenge Tour card in 2020 thanks to his 2019 Alps Tour results. Balt will be competing for title this week alongside numerous past champions like: Martin Wiegele, Markus Brier, Thomas Elissalde and Jurgen Maurer.
Niklas Regner who is just 23 years of age, and a current DP World Tour player will be competing this week. He has already played this tournament in the past and is looking forward to hopefully capture a win this time. Regner commented, “At the 2019 tournament, I led as an amateur after two days, but then I collapsed on the final round and finished 20th. The following year it went a lot better with sixth place and now I feel ready to play for the victory.”
Netherland’s Koen Kouwenaar, who won last week’s Alps Tour tournament in Italy is the new Alps Tour Order of Merit Leader. Kouwenaar will be in the field this week playing along side Order of Merit number 2 and 3, Stefano Mazzoli and Tomas Bessa Guimaraes.
The Course-
Golf Club Erzherzog Johann Maria Lankowitz is a 5967 meters par 72 course. It was designed by architect DI Herwig Zisser and inaugurated in 1992. The course is located about 40km from the city of Graz on the edge of a natural reserve in the Western Styria area and has some picturesque views including rolling hills, lakes, and forests which appease the eye. Nonetheless, the course creates numerous challenges for the players that require accuracy and precision due to the layout of the golf course.
The current tournament course record is held by Thomas Feyrsinger in his 2nd round of the 2005 Gösser Open and Claude Grenier in his 1st round of the 2011 Gösser Open, both with a score of 63.

Koen Kouwenaar wins the inaugural 2022 Molinetto Alps Open
Milan, May 6th, 2022 – A long day ahead for the players competing in the inaugural 2022 Molinetto Alps Open at Molinetto Country Club near Milan, Italy. At 7:30 under a consistent rain, play for round 2 resumed. Once, round 2 was completed, a total of 50 players, which included 46 pros and 4 amateurs made the cut that was set at 138, 4 under-par.
The Final Round of the 2022 Molinetto Alps Open began at 9:20 from hole 1 and 10. The final group that included, Round 2 leader Alessandro Tadini at 11 under-par, his fellow countryman Gregorio De Leo just 1 stroke back at 10 under- par and Netherland’s Koen Kouwenaar at 9 under-par teed off at 10:48. After a long battle especially on the last couple of holes between Alessandro Tadini and Koen Kouwenaar, Kouwenaar wins on the 18th hole by just one stroke at 14 under-par.
Molinetto Country Club is a course that has never previously hosted an Alps Tour event before this week but proved to be a good test for the players especially in the conditions they had to face the last two rounds.
Player Quotes-
After his win today, Koen Kouwenaar, has become the new Order of Merit Leader after the 7th event. Koen who turned professional at the end of 2020 but is playing his first season on the Alps Tour as he was unable to play last year due to a wrist surgery. His final round, included 1 double bogey and 3 birdies on the front nine and 4 birdies on the back. After his round, Koen was very pleased with his day, “My game was good, I was satisfied with my game especially with my long irons and I had my putter which was hot and obviously that helps and I’m very happy.” Koen complimented his playing partners especially Italy’s Alessandro Tadini, “I didn’t know Alessandro but you can see in his experience and especially the way he handled his game while being in contention.” Koen dedicated this win to himself, especially the hard work, long hours and dedication he had to put in his game since his surgery. Now, Koen looks ahead and is excited for the rest of the season as he has reached one of his goal and now looks towards gaining his Challenge Tour card especially being the new Order of Merit Leader.
Alessandro Tadini of Italy, who was in tied contention with Koen Kouwenaar up until the 18th green, shot a 2 under-par final round which included 6 birdies and 4 bogeys. He had a consistent game throughout the final round but slightly blames his nerves for not being able to capture the win. “I needed to be a bit less nervous on the last 4/5 holes and probably I would have been more in contention. I came on 18 after a few holes of mishitting my tee shots and wasn’t at ease on the 18th hole. I am very happy about this week and I putted very well so I gave myself a chance to return to victory but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be this week.”
The four amateurs that made the cut, concluded their tournament at 8-under-par.
