Three players tied at the top set up a thrilling final round at the New Giza Open
Egypt, March 2nd, 2025 – The second round of the 2025 New Giza Open concluded today at the stunning New Giza Golf Club in Cairo, Egypt, with a tightly contested leaderboard setting the stage for an exciting final round tomorrow.
Three players share the lead, while a total of 40 golfers have made the cut and will compete in tomorrow’s decisive round to crown the champion.
At the top of the leaderboard, Gato Bertinotti of Argentina, Quentin Debove of France, and Javier Barcos of Spain sit tied at 12-under-par with a total score of 132. Bertinotti carded a 65 in the first round followed by a 67 today, while Debove and Barcos each posted matching rounds of 66-66, showcasing consistency and precision on the challenging New Giza layout.
Just one stroke back at 11-under-par are Hugh Foley of Ireland (66-67) and Juan Salama Monsalve of Spain (67-66), who remain in strong contention heading into the final day. Rocco Repetto of Spain holds sixth place at 9-under-par (68-67) while a trio of players: Alessandro Nardini of Italy (69-67), Paul Elissalde of France (70-66), and Jose Luis Adarraga Gomez of Spain (71-65), with the best score of the day, are tied at 8-under-par.
ROUND 2 PLAYERS QUOTES
Gato Bertinotti, 29, from Argentina, turned professional in 2018 and has been a consistent presence on the Alps Tour since then. While he has not yet secured a victory on the Alps Tour, his steady participation reflects persistence and growth. Today, he finished his morning round with a score of five under par, maintaining the top of the leaderboard. After completing his round, Bertinotti shared his thoughts:
“My round today was solid, just like yesterday. I stayed focused on my strategy, taking it shot by shot. Unfortunately, I struggled a bit off the tee and wasn’t able to hit the ball well. However, I managed to make some great recoveries, which I believe were the key to staying positive and capitalizing on my good shots. I made an eagle on the 3rd hole after a great second shot with my six-iron to three meters, and I took full advantage of that opportunity. I’m super excited for tomorrow. The game plan will remain the same as it has been for the past two days and the last two weeks. I’ve been in similar positions before, both as an amateur and as a professional, and I believe I’m much more mature and prepared for whatever comes tomorrow.”
Quentin Debove, a 23-year-old Frenchman, turned professional at the end of last year. He is in his first season on the Alps Tour and, in Egypt, he is proving his ability. After a 15th-place finish at the Ein Bay Open and a second-place finish earlier this week at the Red Sea Little Venice Open, he is once again making an impact in Cairo. Here’s what he told us after completing his second round:
“This afternoon, I started from hole number 10, and I got off to a pretty good start. I made six birdies in a row (from the 17th to the 4th). I was in a similar position last week, so I’m quite excited for tomorrow. I’m just going to focus on getting off to a good start. My ball-striking is solid enough, so if I keep doing everything right, I’ll do my best.”
The Spaniard Javier Barcos, 23, recently turned Professional and has begun his season on the Alps Tour. His experience in Egypt started with a 20th-place finish at the Ein Bay Open and a 4th-place finish this week at the Red Sea Little Venice Open. Here are his statements after today’s round:
“The start on the Alps Tour has been very solid and I’m very happy. I turned pro mid September just for the DP World Tour Q School first stage. My game has felt pretty good which it is what I was looking for before coming to Egypt. I’ll play tomorrow with the same mindset as today, but golf it’s a complicated game so it might need to change through the round. I am confident.”
FINAL ROUND
The final round of the 2025 New Giza Open will start from 08:00 to 09:06 from the 1st and the 10th. The flight of the leaders will start at 09:06 from the 1st hole.

Gato Bertinotti takes the lead after the first round at New Giza Golf Club
Egypt, March 1st, 2025 – The Alps Tour kicked off the 2025 New Giza Open today at the prestigious New Giza Golf Club under warm conditions, with winds picking up in the afternoon. After an exciting first round, Argentina’s Gato Bertinotti emerged as the early leader, carding an impressive 7-under-par to take a one-shot advantage heading into the second day.
Hot on Bertinotti’s heels is a tightly packed chasing pack, with eight players tied for second place at 6-under-par. The group includes Ireland’s John Murphy and Hugh Foley, Switzerland’s Maximilien Sturdza, France’s Quentin Debove, Thibault Frestel, and Robin Roussel, Spain’s Javier Barcos, and Italy’s Ludovico Addabbo, all setting the stage for a competitive battle in the rounds ahead.
Sitting in a share of 10th place at 5-under-par are Spain’s Juan Salama Monsalve and Manuel Morugan, alongside France’s Antoine Auboin and Tom Gueant, rounding out a strong contingent of contenders after the opening day.
Gato Bertinotti, 29, from Argentina, turned professional in 2018 and has been a consistent presence on the Alps Tour since then. While he has not yet secured a victory on the Alps Tour, his steady participation reflects persistence and growth. His strong performance in the first round of the New Giza Open (7-under-par) marks a potential breakthrough, positioning him as the current leader of the tournament. After finishing his first round at seven-under-par, Bertinotti shared his thoughts:
“My round today was pretty good. I played solidly and hit the ball well, especially with my irons. I struggled a bit off the tee midway through the round, but I managed to keep it together. My putting was on fire today. I made a couple of long putts from seven or eight meters, which felt great. The eagle on the third hole was fantastic, and overall, I stayed consistent. I stuck to my strategy throughout and finished strong with a few good putts. The course conditions were amazing; the golf course is in great shape, and the staff here is doing an incredible job. The weather helped too, it was a bit hotter than last week, with some wind but not as strong as the past two weeks. I handled it well and I’m really happy with how it went.”
John Murphy, 26, is an Irish professional golfer. As a professional, Murphy has competed on various tours, including the Challenge Tour and Alps Tour, steadily building his reputation. After completing his morning round, Murphy shared the following statements:
“Today there were good conditions, not much wind. So this morning there were quite a few opportunities, and I managed to take advantage of them well. I never put too much pressure on myself and stayed pretty stress-free for most of the time. In the last few weeks, I’ve struggled in the first round to get going and basically knocked myself out of the tournament. So this time, I tried to focus more on relaxing from the start, and I did a good job with that. Overall, I’m happy with the score, but obviously there’s still a lot of golf to play.”
Maximilien Sturdza, 24, from Switzerland, turned Professional after the Alps Tour Qualifying School 2024. After completing his morning, Sturdza shared the following remarks:
“The round of this morning was very good. I started with 5 birdies within the first 7 holes which helped me carry some momentum throughout the course. The conditions this morning were nice, and the layout of the course is great! Every hole looks different which makes this course a very nice walk with not too much wind.”
The Irish Hugh Foley, 27, turned professional in 2022 after a successful amateur career. After his morning round of six under par, Foley said:
“I was out early this morning at 7.10am which is almost always good to get a little less wind and the best of the greens. I played nicely, I have been working hard with my coach (Geoff Loughrey) and it’s great to see some good signs from that work come through. The course has big greens so I thought it was key to work on pace putting this week. I started steadily and then the birdie on 18 (my 9th) started a nice run of chances and I made a few good putts.”
Quentin Debove, 23, from France, earlier this week, finished second at the Red Sea Little Venice Open. After his morning round at the New Giza Open, Debove commented:
“Pretty good today. I hit nine greens on the front nine and made five birdies, so definitely a great job. There wasn’t much wind, the weather was perfect, so I took advantage of it. Then on the back nine, my game stayed solid, so I’m happy with the day. Tomorrow we start again, and I hope to repeat it.”
The Spaniard Javier Barcos, 23, completed the first round of the New Giza Open scoring a six-under-par. Earlier this week, he achieved a strong fourth-place finish at the Red Sea Little Venice Open, showcasing his consistent form. After his morning round at New Giza, Barcos commented:
“My game felt pretty good the whole day, I was hitting my driver very straight and the first 10 holes I hit my irons really good. I hit great putts the whole round and I felt I could’ve made more but really happy overall. The course was in great shape, the greens rolled very consistent which made it easier to hit good putts. We had really good weather, the temperature was perfect and there was just a little breeze that didn’t do much, so it was the perfect day to play golf.”
French Thibault Frestel, 22, who finished third in the 1st Stage of the School last November, commented after completing his morning round at six under par:
“Yeah good round today, 18 greens in regulation so long game on point, the course here is very similar to my home course in France so feels like home a bit. Not too much wind so it helps to play in the morning sometimes! Putting was good but nothing amazing on that part.”
The French Robin Roussel, 31, has competed extensively on the Alps Tour from 2017. Roussel has also participated in the HotelPlanner Tour with a victory in 2019 at the Hauts de France – Pas de Calais Golf Open. After finishing his first round at the New Giza Open at six under par, Roussel shared his thoughts on his performance:
“Today, I started from the 10th hole. I’ve been hitting the ball solidly since arriving in Egypt, though I struggled a lot on the greens in the first two tournaments. I’ve been striking it really well distance-wise. On the 11th, I nearly made a hole-in-one and had a tap-in for birdie. My iron play was excellent today, so I didn’t face many long putts. By the turn, I hit every fairway and green, landing a few iron shots very close. I holed two good putts, one from six meters and another from two and a half meters, with the rest being tap-ins for birdies. I’m very happy with my game so far. The key here is positioning yourself well on the greens because putting isn’t easy.”
After finishing the first round at six strokes under par, Italian Ludovico Addabbo, 26, commented:
“Today was a windy day, but the course was in great condition. It’s quite long, so the wind made it a nice challenge. I played really solid golf, hitting 16 greens, and I’m happy with both my score and the position I’ve put myself in. Tomorrow, with the same mindset, I’ll try to maintain this pace.”
SECOND ROUND
The second round of the 2025 New Giza Open will start at 07:00 to 08:30 from the tee of hole 1 and the tee of hole 10. The afternoon block will be from 11:20 to 12:50, also from both starting tees.

Álvaro Hernández Cabezuela claims his first Alps Tour victory at the 2025 Red Sea Little Venice Open
Egypt, February 26th, 2025 – After a battle at the top, Spaniard Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela claimed victory at the 2025 Red Sea Little Venice Open. The tournament, played at the Sokhna Golf Club, was won by the Spaniard with a total of 11 strokes under par (69-67-69). Finishing in second place, just one stroke behind and consistently in contention with the winner, was Frenchman Quentin Debove, who concluded the event at -10 (68-68-70). Italy’s Vecchi Fossa, co-leader after the first day and tied for the lead with the other two after yesterday’s round, took third place at 8 under par (67-69-72). Tied for fourth place at 6 under par were Spaniards Javier Barcos and Rocco Repetto, alongside Frenchman Maxime Legros. In seventh place, a trio of Italians, Ludovico Addabbo, Manfredi Manica, and Lucas Fallotico, finished tied. Another Italian, Andrea Romano, secured a share of tenth place alongside Frenchmen Tom Gueant and Aymeric Laussot, as well as Spaniard Mario Galiano Aguilar.
Álvaro Hernández Cabezuela, 28 year, Spanish golfer from Tenerife, has forged an impressive career, displaying exceptional talent from an early age. Raised sharpening his skills at Golf del Sur in Tenerife, Álvaro enjoyed a stellar junior career, culminating in the 2016 Canary Islands Boys’ Junior Ranking title, a victory that marked him as one of the region’s brightest rising stars. In 2021, while still an amateur, he turned heads at the Tenerife Open, a European Tour event. At just 24, he made the cut in his professional circuit debut, finishing at 5 strokes under par, with a standout second-round score of 65. Since turning professional and joining the Alps Tour in 2022, Álvaro has consistently excelled, securing seven Top-10 finishes, including a fifth-place result last week and a second-place finish at the 2023 Fred Olsen Alps de La Gomera on home turf. Now, in a career defining moment, Álvaro has clinched his first ever victory on the Alps Tour, a breakthrough triumph that underscores his perseverance and skill.
“I’m incredibly happy! This is what I’ve been practicing for, what I’ve worked so hard to achieve, and I’m thrilled that I’ve finally secured my first victory on the Alps Tour. Hopefully, this is just the start, and I can build on it with more strong results this season. Today was tough, the wind made it really tricky. I started with six pars in a row, which I thought were solid because other players were dropping shots with bogeys. It was hard to make birdies out there, so I was happy to take pars whenever they came. Then, I made a crucial save on the 17th, which kept me in contention going into 18 with a real opportunity for the victory. I’m absolutely overjoyed that I pulled it off. I’m so proud of how I handled the wind and the conditions today. After coming close to winning a few times before, to finally get it done feels amazing. I’m really proud of myself and all the effort I’ve put in to reach this moment.”
Quentin Debove, 23, rising star from France, is steadily carving out a name for himself in the world of professional golf. He turned pro in September, just in time for Q School and the young golfer marked his Alps Tour debut in Egypt with a promising performance.
Reflecting on his experience, Quentin shared: “I feel good, but not quite good enough yet. Overall, it’s been a solid week. I enjoyed the weather, and the course was great, so I can’t complain. I’m already looking forward to next week. My long game was strong; honestly, I thought it would carry me to a win all day. But I missed some key putts, and I’m a bit disappointed in myself.” This was only his second tournament as a professional, following his debut the previous week. He continued: “I felt like I had the win in my grasp, but the other guy played brilliantly, so I have to give him credit and congratulate him.”
Despite not sinking as many putts as he’d hoped, Quentin remains optimistic. “Over these two weeks, I’ve been playing really well. I have made too many putts, but I feel good otherwise, and I know it’s going to come together soon. I’m excited for next week, the course seems like it’ll suit my game perfectly.”
Jacopo Vecchi Fossa, 30, Italian from Reggio Emilia, has built an impressive career highlighted by three Alps Tour victories in 2020 and 2021: the Italy Open, the Abruzzo Alps Open, and the Golf Nazionale Alps Open. Alongside these wins, he has secured numerous top-10 finishes. His exceptional 2021 season culminated in winning the Alps Tour Order of Merit, which earned him a spot on the HotelPlanner Tour in 2022. Vecchi Fossa has also claimed victory at the Italian National Open Championship in 2018 and 2021, as well as the PGAI Championship in 2019 and 2023. Here’s what he shared about his round today:
“Today was a bit of a tough day because I didn’t play well at all. Neither off the tee nor with my irons. Still, I’m happy with how it turned out. I managed to make two birdies on the last two holes, which helped me finish alone in third place. After a while out there, that became the goal I set for myself because the other players pulled ahead pretty quickly, and I no longer had a chance to catch them. All in all, I’m pleased with how it ended up, especially considering how the morning started.”
Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela, winner of the 2025 Red Sea Little Venice Open earned the winner’s check of €6,200 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.
The next tournament on the calendar is scheduled in just a few days. The players will travel to Cairo for the conclusion of the Egypt Swing with the 2025 New Giza Open, which will be played at the New Giza Golf Club course from Saturday, March 1st, to Monday, March 3rd.

Tight battle at the top after Second Round of the Red Sea Little Venice Open
Egypt, February 25th, 2025 – The leaderboard is heating up after the second round of the Red Sea Little Venice Open, played on the A&B courses at Sokhna Golf Club in Egypt. A trio has emerged at the summit, sitting at 8-under par: Spain’s Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela (69-67), France’s Quentin Debove (68-68), and Italy’s Jacopo Vecchi Fossa (67-69), still leader. Wales’ David Boote, who shared the top spot with the Italian after yesterday’s opening round, slipped back to 12th position.
Hot on the leaders’ heels is France’s Aymeric Laussot, last year’s Ein Bay Open champion on this same course combination, climbing the ranks with a 6-under total (70-68). A chasing pack of four sits at 5-under in fifth place: Dutchman Bob Geurts, Frenchman Maxime Legros, Italy’s Lucas Fallotico, and England’s Robert Holden, all poised to strike as the tournament heads into its Final Round.
Last year’s winner, Spaniard Jose Antonio Sintes Navarro, who triumphed as an amateur, is currently tied for 27th place with a total of 1 stroke under par (72-71).
The French amateur Paul Franquet posted the best score of the day with a 66.
The Red Sea Little Venice Open was played on the A&B course combination, unlike the Bay Open, which featured the B&C layout.
ROUND 2 PLAYERS QUOTES
Álvaro Hernández Cabezuela, 28, Spanish golfer from Tenerife, has built a solid career showcasing remarkable talent from a young age. Growing up honing his skills at Golf del Sur in Tenerife, Álvaro enjoyed a highly successful junior career. In 2016, he claimed the Canary Islands Boys’ Junior Ranking title, establishing himself as one of the region’s top emerging talents. In 2021, still an amateur, he turned heads at the Tenerife Open, a European Tour event. At just 24 years old, he made the cut in his professional circuit debut, finishing with an impressive total of -5, highlighted by a second-round score of 65. Since joining the Alps Tour in 2022, Álvaro has notched seven Top-10 finishes, including a fifth-place result last week and a runner-up finish at the 2023 Fred Olsen Alps de La Gomera on home soil.
Reflecting on his performance after the second round of the Red Sea Little Venice Open, Álvaro said:
“It was a good round today. Honestly, I’ve been playing very well in these two tournaments. The key, I think, has been patience. Today was tricky with the wind, it was very cold this morning, conditions I’m not so used to coming from where I’m from. But I had a good warm-up, started with a few birdies, and despite a bogey with a three-putt on hole 14, I played really well on my back nine. I made a chip-in and sank a few good putts for birdies to finish at 5-under-par. I’m very happy and looking forward to tomorrow. I have a chance to win again. My main goal is to stay in contention in these events, and I’m doing that. I’m proud of how I’ve managed myself on the course, and obviously, with the scores being good, I’m even happier.”
Quentin Debove, 23, emerging French golfer, is starting to gain attention in professional golf. He recently became a professional and debuted on the Alps Tour in Egypt. Last week he began his Alps Tour experience and was happy with his 15th place scoring 8 strokes under par (68-69-71). In his second tournament, he has been playing consistently and enjoys the course, which has helped him stay focused. Today, he scored 4 under par, even though he had bogeys on holes 2 and 12. However, a great shot on the 17th hole resulted in an eagle, placing him at the top of the leaderboard. Tomorrow, he will play in the final flight with the leaders and is excited for the day ahead.
Jacopo Vecchi Fossa, 30 years old Italian from Reggio Emilia, has enjoyed a successful career, claiming three Alps Tour victories in 2020 and 2021 (Italy Open, Abruzzo Alps Open, and Golf Nazionale Alps Open), along with numerous top-10 finishes. His standout 2021 season saw him win the Alps Tour Order of Merit, earning a card for the HotelPlanner Tour in 2022. Vecchi Fossa has also triumphed at the Italian National Open Championship (2018 and 2021) and the PGAI Championship (2019 and 2023). Here’s what he had to say about his round today:
“I started well today, but I hit a couple of poor shots and struggled with my approach and putting, missing from pretty close distance. I finished the front nine at two over par, but then I turned it around with four birdies in a row, striking the ball really well. I managed to stay steady until the end and picked up another birdie on 17th. I’m really pleased, my game felt strong. The wind shifted a bit during the round, but I consistently kept my drives on the fairway, which is crucial on this course to control the second shot into the green. My strategy for tomorrow is the same: I’ll stick to my game, not worry too much about what’s happening around me, and see where it takes me.”
FINAL ROUND
The final round of the 2025 Red Sea Little Venice Open will begin at 8:00 am local time from the 1st and 11th hole. There are 49 players who made the cut today at the end of the second round. The tournament leaders’ flight will start at 09:20 am local time from the 1st hole.

Vecchi Fossa and Boote tied at the top after first round of Red Sea Little Venice Open
Last year’s winner, Spaniard Jose Antonio Sintes Navarro, who triumphed as an amateur, is currently at even par in 50th place.
The first round of the 2025 Red Sea Little Venice Open, held at Sokhna Golf Club, started this morning at 7:00 a.m. local time from the 1st and 11th hole on a sunny day, with the wind beginning to pick up toward the end of the morning. In the afternoon, the sky became overcast with a northerly wind blowing at 20 km/h and gusts reaching up to 30 km/h, and a temperature of 15°C.
We caught up with Italian leader Jacopo Vecchi Fossa, who sits at -5 after the morning round. Despite breaking his putter last week and switching to a new one, he quickly found his rhythm with the new club. Here’s what he shared about his round:
“I played really well today and made very few mistakes. I had some uncertainty off the tee with my driver, but I capitalized on the right holes. The putter worked great, I’m thrilled because I wasn’t too confident after switching putter following last week’s break, but it turned out to be a good fit. It was colder than last week; this morning we were bundled up in heavier clothes and wool hats, but thankfully it wasn’t too windy. I’m happy and ready to attack tomorrow!”
David Boote battled chilly conditions to get off to a strong start. Here’s what he had to say:
“It was very, very cold today. The guys at the driving range said they’ve never seen this cold here and it was a big change from last week. The wind picked up in the afternoon, but I started solidly with a few pars, then I’ve made some birdies around the turn. I struck the ball really very well with my driver, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the week.”
ROUND 2
The Welshmann David Boote will begin his 2nd round at 7:50 am local time from the 11th hole and the Italian Jacopo Vecchi Fossa will begin round 2 at 12:20 pm local time from the 1st.

Giovanni Manzoni leads at the end of Day 2 in Egypt
Leading the field is Giovanni Manzoni of Italy with a total of 12-under par (64-68). Close behind in second place is Switzerland’s Luca Galliano, sitting at 11-under par (65-68).
Just one stroke back, at 10-under par, is a trio consisting of Frenchman Theo Brizard (66-68) and Spaniards Mario Galiano Aguilar (65-69) and Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela, who recorded the best round of the day with a stunning 64 after an opening 70.
In sixth place, at 9-under par, are Monaco’s Sandro Piaget and defending champion Aymeric Laussot of France.
Completing the Top 10 at 8-under par is another trio made up of Spaniard Rocco Repetto and Italians Manfredi Manica and Filippo Grossi.
With only one round left, the 2025 Ein Bay Open is set for a thrilling conclusion as players compete for the season’s first title.
The second round of the 2025 Ein Bay Open started with a sunny day and a temperature of around 13°C, which rose to 21°C in the afternoon. The players in the morning flights were able to play with a light breeze, while in the afternoon, a northwesterly wind picked up, though it was less intense than yesterday.
ROUND 2 PLAYERS QUOTES
Giovanni Manzoni, an emerging Italian talent with a strong amateur background, continues to impress on the Alps Tour.
“Today went well. I started on the 10th, and it was a bit of a tricky beginning with a bogey on the first hole from the middle of the fairway, 40 meters from the pin; the early holes were challenging. Then I found my rhythm, managed to hit some shots close to the pin, and at the 17th, I struck a great iron-4 that went straight to the flag for an eagle. From there, I started playing really well. I missed a few putts toward the end, but overall, it was a very positive day. The wind picked up during the back nine, but fortunately, it was never a crosswind.”
Luca Galliano, a consistent performer on the Alps Tour with multiple top-10 finishes, is off to a strong start this season.
“Today’s conditions were very different from yesterday morning. In the afternoon, especially on the back nine, the wind kicked up. I’m really happy with how I’ve played both yesterday and today. It’s great to be in contention for the win right from the first event. I couldn’t have asked for a better start to the season so far.”
Theo Brizard, a promising French golfer making his mark on the Alps Tour, showcased resilience and skill in this round.
“It was a great start to the round with birdies on holes 10 and 11. I managed to secure some easy pars after that. I made a big mistake on the 15th, putting my first shot in the water, but I kept a positive mindset through the end of the first round and made a birdie on 17. I played the 1st hole very well, then made a bogey on the 3rd after being too aggressive with my approach. I finished strong with birdies on 7 and 8 and a solid par on the last. It was a good round, I’m very satisfied.”
Mario Galiano Aguilar, a Spanish golfer with a decorated amateur career and growing Alps Tour experience, remains competitive.
“Today’s result was good, but my game didn’t feel as strong. On the front nine, I had plenty of birdie chances but couldn’t capitalize. Then I struggled a lot on the first three holes of the back nine, but I tried to stay calm. I managed three birdies in the last six holes, which helped me post a solid score for tomorrow.”
Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela, a skilled Spaniard known for his short game, is building momentum on the Alps Tour.
“The best part of my game today was my wedges. I think both my wedges and putting were pretty good. I’ve played well both days. Today, I hit a lot of wedges close to the pin. The key moment came after the 10th, where I was unlucky with a tee shot that ended deep in the rough, leading to a double bogey. But I didn’t let it get to me and bounced back with five birdies and an eagle over the last seven holes.”

Two players lead at -8 after Round 1 at the 2025 Ein Bay Open
Round 1 Player Quotes
The Italian Giovanni Manzoni shares the leaderboard after the first round with a total of 8-under par. Giovanni scored 8 birdies and an eagle on the 17th hole after encountering a double bogey on the 15th. The 25-year-old, winner of the 2023 Qualifying School, turned professional after a long stint representing the Italian National Golf Team. Here are his statements at the end of the round:
It was a great round. I got off to a strong start, hitting three shots close to the hole and making three birdies. I had other chances, missed a putt on the 7th hole, but then I made four birdies in a row. I made a small mistake on the 15th hole, which cost me a double bogey, but then on the par-5 17th, after a great drive, I hit a 5-iron to two meters from the pin for an eagle.
Rocco Repetto, who started from the 10th hole, shares second place after an afternoon round with windy conditions in which he recorded 7 birdies, an eagle, and a bogey. Repetto, 22, is a young professional Spanish golfer from Málaga, Andalusia. He turned pro just a few weeks before winning his first professional tournament in 2024:
It was really tough from the start, the wind kept changing. I stayed patient, hit the right shots, and made good putts. They just went in. I don’t think I missed many shots today. I’m very happy. I made an eagle on the 7th hole, my 16th, right after a three-putt. I really wanted to score well on that hole.
Mario Galiano Aguilar is one of four players sharing third place. The Spaniard, who already claimed victory on the Alps Tour in 2024 at the Hauts de France-Pas de Calais Golf Open, set the course record last year on the B&C course of the Sokhna Golf Club at the 2024 Red Sea Little Venice Open with a score of 62 (-10).
I had a great feeling today! I played really well from the tee, hit many greens, and created a lot of birdie opportunities. On the back nine, I made five birdies. My game feels strong right now, and I’m very confident. I’ll give my best effort tomorrow. The conditions were excellent in the morning and the wind was calmer compared to the afternoon. Hopefully, tomorrow afternoon will be similar.
Tied for 3rd place at 7-under par, with Galiano, are Michael Hay from England, Spaniard Jose Luis Adarraga Gomez, and Luca Galliano from Switzerland. Defending champion Aymeric Laussot from France is currently in 40th place.
Round 2
Repetto will begin round 2 at 7:40 am local time from the 1st hole and Manzoni will start his 2nd round at 12:00 pm local time from the 10th hole.

Sokhna Golf Club marks the start of the Egypt Swing and the 2025 Alps Tour Golf season
Egypt, February 17th, 2025 – Since 2022, the Ein Bay Open and the Red Sea Little Venice Open have kicked off the new Alps Tour season at the Sokhna Golf Club.
The history of these tournaments in Egypt dates back to 2013, and they have been held without interruption, reaching their 13th edition this year.
The Egypt Swing will open the 2025 season with the Ein Bay Open (19th – 21st February) on courses B&C, followed by the Red Sea Little Venice Open (24th – 26th February) on courses A&B, after which the players will head to Giza for the 4th edition of the New Giza Open (1st – 3rd March). Between the two tournaments in Sokhna, a Pro-Am event will take place on February 22nd.
The Field
An exceptional field is expected for the first two events of the Egypt Swing 2025. The players, full of enthusiasm, are determined to give their best from the start of the season in pursuit of their ultimate goal on the Alps Tour: securing one of the five cards for the 2026 HotelPlanner Tour.
Defending the title will be Frenchman Aymeric Laussot, who claimed victory last year with a total score of -14 (69-66-67) after a tight battle with Italian Edoardo Raffaele Lipparelli, who finished second at -13 (69-68-66), and Swiss player Luca Galliano, who also returns this year after finishing third at -12 with the best final round (63 strokes).
Several tournament winners from the 2024 season will be competing at Sokhna. Among them are Frenchman Theo Boulet, who achieved double victories at the Open de la Mirabelle d’Or and the Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand, alongside Aymeric Laussot (winner of the Ein Bay Open) and Antoine Auboin (Lacanau Alps Open). Rounding out the list of last season’s winners are Italians Gianmaria Rean Trinchero (Tunisian Golf Open) and Mattia Comotti (Memorial Giorgio Bordoni).
Among the 120 players competing at the first two tournaments of the 2025, approximately 20 worldwide countries will be represented. The field is made up of 14 amateur players and 106 professional players.
At the 2025 Ein Bay Open and the 2025 Red Sea Little Venice Open, there will be 120 players competing in each field for a prize fund of € 40,000. Both events will be played as 54 holes stroke play tournaments where a cut will be made after 36 holes.
