Longwy, September 7th, 2024 – France’s Damien Perrier wins the inaugural 2024 Longwy Alps Open with a total score of 14 under par. In 2nd place: Netherlands’s Vince Van Veen and France’s Benjamin Kedochim with a three-day score of 13 under-par. Final Round Player QuotesFrance’s Damien Perrier, triumphs again on the Alps Tour by winning the inaugural 2024 Longwy Alps Open. He was in tied for 15th place at 5 under-par after yesterday’s round 2 and today he shot an incredible 9 under-par, 63 to conclude the tournament with a three-day total of 14 under-par. In today’s final round, he made 1 eagle, 8 birdies and 1 bogey. He came from behind and had a strong finish to today’s round, making two birdies on hole 17 and hole 18 to conclude the day. After his win, Perrier was delighted: “It was an incredible day, golf that we sometimes hate it as much as we love it. I know what I’m talking about. I’ve been professional a long time and a long time I’ve been battling to earn the results I want to. There are highs and lows, but I learned never to give up and always hang in. Sometimes the results aren’t expected, you wake up in the morning saying I want to put together a good round to be in the top 5/ top 10 and you end up leaving with the trophy and a win on the Alps Tour 15 years after my last win which occurred in 2009 at the Open de Normandie. For sure, 15 years is a long time, in the meantime I won on the Challenge Tour but not on the Alps Tour. This was part of my season goals and put me in a great position for the end of the season with 3 tournaments remaining, especially confidence-wise. Perrier went on to add that he found the: “Scores today were incredible, I want to send my congratulations to Vince Van Veen who is having a great season and shot an amazing 10 under-par final round today but luckily my 9 under-par was the 2nd best score and was enough to earn the title. It was a good fight until the very last hole, for sure. I’m very sorry for Benjamin Kedochim who is having a great season, he’s the leader in the ranking but I think he wants to win a tournament and I’m sure his time will come soon.”  Perrier has had some success in the past in this region, at the Open de La Mirabelle d’Or but was never able to earn the title, so this week: “I tried to take the good momentum and vibes from this area, but this morning I wasn’t certain I was going to be able to win the tournament.”

In a two-way tie for 2nd place with a three-day score of 13 under-par, there is Netherlands’s Vince Van Veen and France’s Benjamin Kedochim.

Vince Van Veen shot an incredible final round of 10 under-par, 62 with 2 eagles, 7 birdies, and 1 bogey to move up in the leaderboard and now hold the new tournament course record at UGolf Longwy International, which was previously set during yesterday’s round 2 at 9 under-par.

Benjamin Kedochim, who was in a 3-way tie for 3rd place ahead of today’s final round, shot a final round of 4 under-par, 68 to conclude the tournament only 1 stroke off the winning score. He remains the current Order of Merit Leader and is looking to break through to earn his first Alps Tour Title before the end of the season.

After the 2024 Longwy Alps Open, the Alps Tour Order of Merit rank has Benjamin Kedochim from France still in the lead. Brandon Kewalramani from the United States of America is in 2nd place, and Vince Van Veen is in 3rd place.

Final Round

France’s Damien Perrier, winner of the inaugural 2024 Longwy Alps Open, earned the winner’s check of €6,525.00 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.

Longwy, September 6th, 2024 – After two rounds of the 2024 Longwy Alps Open, we have a close leaderboard. Luca Galliano from Switzerland moves into the lead alongside Italian amateur Luca Memeo with a two-day total of 10 under-par. Italy’s Federico Livio, Benjamin Kedochim from France, and Ireland’s Paul McBride are in a 3-way tie for 3rd place at 9 under-par. In a 3-way tie for 6th place: Spain’s Albert Boneta, Italy’s Andrea Romano and Robert Holden from England.

The players competing in today’s round 2 of the inaugural 2024 Longwy Alps Open faced a mix of weather conditions, ranging from overcast skies, some light winds, some light rains, some sunshine, and a chillier temperature than yesterday’s first round. Play began this morning at 8:00 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole. This is the inaugural year of the 2024 Longwy Alps Open.

Round 2 Player Quotes

Luca Galliano from Switzerland is in a two-way tie for the lead after two rounds at the 2024 Longwy Alps Open. He shot a 4 under-par 68 in today’s round 2, making 6 birdies and 2 bogeys for a two-day total of 10 under-par. After today’s round, Galliano talked about how today: The course played quite tough, it was wet, and the pins were trickier than yesterday’s first round. Also, the weather changed as the temperature dropped quite a bit compared to yesterday as well as the pro-am.” He added that he is grateful for his: “my long game as it’s been very good lately, my tee to green has been working well I must say so it’s rewarding. I need to work a bit more on improving my putting, but overall, I’m happy.” For tomorrow’s final round, Galliano plans on: “staying in the present and keep doing what I’ve been doing so far as it seems to be working pretty well. I think the winning score will be around 14 or 15 under-par. Tonight, I’m going to relax with my friends and play some card games to get ready for tomorrow.”

Italian amateur, Luca Memeo, 19, who was tied for 2nd place after yesterday’s opening round, moves into the two-way tie for the lead alongside Galliano with a two-day total of 10 under-par. He shot a 4 under-par, 68 in today’s round 2 making 1 bogey and 5 birdies which 2 were in the last two holes. Once Memeo completed his second round, he was pleased as: “It seems like I was able to me in the more favorable draw with the weather as we even had some sun come out this afternoon. The course was softer, and the greens had slightly more spin, and I was able to adapt well.” He is tied for the lead heading into tomorrow’s final round. He plans on: “keep doing the same thing, try to hit as many fairways as possible which will allow me to have shorter irons into the greens. I plan on turning pro within the calendar year so I’m looking forward to the rest of the tournaments.” He added that: “I stayed very patient throughout the entire round even if I missed some shots and some putts and I believe that was key for me. That’s something I will take with me for tomorrow.”

Italy’s Federico Livio, 26, moves into a three-way tie for 3rd place after round 2 of the inaugural 2024 Longwy Alps Open. He was tied for 10th place at 5 under-par after the first round of the tournament and today shot a 4 under-par, 68 with 1 eagle, 5 birdies and 1 triple bogey to move into the three-way tie for 3rd place with a two-day total of 9 under-par. After his round, he commented: “My game was very good today overall even though I, unfortunately, began my round under a good rain shower, so it was hard to get the momentum going. I made an unfortunate triple bogey on the 5th hole but luckily got it back immediately with an eagle and 2 birdies. Tomorrow, I will try to do my best and see what happens. The course today, especially this morning, was quite wet, but overall, the greens are good, and the conditions allow us to perform well. I want to keep playing like I did today for tomorrow’s round and try to hole in some more putts.”

Benjamin Kedochim, 29, from France, who is the current Order of Merit Leader, concludes round 2 of the 2024 Longwy Alps Open with a two-day of 9 under-par and finds himself in the three-way tie for 3rd place alongside Livio. In today’s round, he shot a 2 under-par, 70 making a 1 triple bogey on the first hole and then made 3 birdies and 1 eagle on the remaining 17 holes. Kedochim explained today: “I had a rough start; I think my nerves played a big part. I had a situation on the first hole and that made my heart go up a bit. I missed my iron shot into the bunker, and with the rain coming today, I hit another bad shot, which cost me a triple bogey. Once I was able to get over the first hole, I told myself I was going to start playing again, and I had a birdie chance on the 2nd to get things going again. I’m very pleased, especially how I was able to fight back and have a strong finish.” He added that he found the course this morning definitely: “softer due to the overnight rain as well as this morning, but the pin positions were tougher, certain were right in the corners and that made it more complicated.” Kedochim added that he learned a valuable lesson from today’s Round 2: “I know that even making a triple bogey, I can be close to the lead, so I will keep doing the same things and hope for a positive result tomorrow.”

Alongside Livio and Kedochim in the three-way tie for 3rd place with a two-day total of 9 under-par, Ireland’s Paul McBride.

The highlight of the day belongs to Italy’s Andrea Romano and France’s Adrien Bonnet, who shot an 8 under-par, 64 in today’s round to hold the new course record at UGolf Longwy International.

Final Round

A total of 47 players made the cut, which was set at -2.

The Final Round of the 2024 Longwy Alps Open will begin at 8:40 a.m. local time from the 1st hole. The Final Pairing will tee off at 11:25 a.m. local time from the 1st hole. In case of a tie after 54 holes, a sudden-death play-off will determine the winner of the inaugural 2024 Longwy Alps Open.

5th September 2024 | Alps Tour Golf

Benjamin Kedochim leads after Round 1 at the 2024 Longwy Alps Open.

Longwy, September 5th, 2024 – France’s Benjamin Kedochim leads after round 1 of the 2024 Longwy Alps Open with a 7 under-par,65. In an 8-way tie for 2nd place: France’s Mateo Bardou, Italy’s Luca Memeo (am), Spain’s Albert Boneta and Borja MartinBrandon Kewalramani from the USA, Luca Galliano from Switzerland, Ireland’s Robert Moran and England’s Robert Holden.

It was a mostly overcast day with occasional sunshine and light to moderate winds in Longwy, France, for the 1st round of the 13th event of the season, the inaugural 2024 Longwy Alps Open. Play began this morning at 8:00 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole.

This is the inaugural year of the 2024 Longwy Alps Open. Players competing this week are trying to capture decisive order of merit points on the line to try and make a move in the Order of Merit rank as there are only two regular events before the season-ending Alps Tour Grand Final.

The top 5 players in the Order of Merit rank at the end of the 2024 season will earn a Challenge Tour Card for the 2025 season.

Round 1

Benjamin Kedochim, 29, from France, leads after the 2024 Longwy Alps Open opening round with a great 7 under-par 65. He made 1 eagle, 7 birdies, and 1 bogey during today’s first round. He is the current Order of Merit Leader and is looking to secure one of the spots up for grabs at the end of the season to earn playing status on the Challenge Tour. Kedochim began his round with 4 birdies and 1 eagle in the first five holes. When he ended his day, he talked about how: “I started well today, I made a nice 8-meter putt on the first hole for birdie, which made the round easier, which was a good start, on the following 4 holes, I had a lot of opportunities, and I was able to take advantage of all of them. Anytime you can be -5 after 5 holes it’s always good and that facilitates the round. There is still 2 days to go so I want to keep my head down and try my best like always. Unfortunately, the only bogey I made was as soon as I made the turn, but it happened. I hit every green, and it was a very nice round overall.” Kedochim played with Kewalramani, who also played well, and he commented: “I played with Brandon, who was always playing well, so you know we were trying to feed off each other. He made a few good putts in a row, and I tried to follow him. I try to do my best every time, and I will focus on that over the next two days, and hopefully, my time will come to hold a trophy soon.”

France’s Mateo Bardou, 21, is in an 8-way tie for 2nd place after the first round of the 2024 Longwy Alps Open with an amazing 6 under-par, 66. He made 1 birdie and 1 bogey on the front nine holes and, after making the turn, he made 4 birdies and 1 eagle on hole 16 to end his round. After his opening round, Bardou explained: “Today was incredible, especially because I had a tough start on the front nine with my iron game. However, luckily, I was able to turn things around. I was very relaxed throughout the entire round, and on the back nine, I was surprised as every aspect of my game was working great. My long game, irons, short game, and putting. I felt like I was on a cloud today, it was really cool it was enjoyable.”  It’s the first time that UGolf Longwy International is hosting an Alps Tour event, and Bardou, found the course to be: “Fantastic, to be honest with you. The design isn’t typical, but I found it very enjoyable to play. The conditions are also amazing, I want to thank the entire maintenance crew for the incredible work.” Looking ahead, he now wants to: “focus on tomorrow. Today is done and in the past, but now I will focus on tomorrow’s round. I want to keep similar feelings to today’s round, and now I plan to hit a few balls and then clear my head, think about other aspects, relax, and regroup for tomorrow.”

Luca Memeo (am), 19, from Italy, is also in the 8-way tie for 2nd place after the opening round of the 2024 Longwy Alps Open with a 6 under-par, 66. He shot an opening round with 2 eagles, 5 birdies and 3 bogeys. After today’s 6 under-par round, Memeo commented: “I played solid, I was also able to hole some important putts, and I was able to get lucky on some occasions, so I’m happy.”  Throughout his day, he made 2 eagles, one was on the front-nine and one on the back-nine, Memeo talked about how on the: “8th hole I hit my 3-wood to about 1 meter and on the 16th hole which is a reachable par-5. I tried to play it safe, and I was able to get rewarded.” His plan for the next two rounds is to: “stay focused on the same things, try to hit as many fairways and hole as many putts as possible.” He also mentioned how the host venue this week, UGolf Longwy International, is: “quite hilly. It’s different compared to the courses we usually play. It’s challenging, but I enjoyed it. It’s quite difficult to predict a winning score on this particular course as a lot will depend on the weather conditions but most likely around 14 under-par, I think. “

Spain’s Albert Boneta, 22, who won the 2024 Alps de Las Castillas before the summer break, finds himself in the 8-way tie for 2nd place after round 1 of the 2024 Longwy Alps Open with an opening round of 6 under-par,66. He made 4 birdies and 1 bogey on both front and back nine. He graduated in Finance and Psychology from New Mexico University and has recently become a professional. After his round, Boneta mentioned how: “I played very well throughout the entire round. I didn’t make many mistakes today, only a couple of tee shots, but I found this course to be very tough off the tees so that it can happen, and we need to be ready for it. I was able to hole a few important putts towards the end of the round, which was a good way to end the day.”

Alongside BardouMemeo (am), and Boneta (am) in the 8-way tie for 2nd place after the first round there is: Brandon Kewalramani from the United States, Luca Galliano from Switzerland, Robert Moran from Ireland, Spain’s Borja Martin and England’s Robert Holden.
