Nunzio Lombardi one clear

Italian rookie, Nunzio Lombardi, 21 year old, shot 66 to lead by one at -9 ahead of French Alan Bihan. At third place tie, another Frenchman Thomas Fournier and Italian Paolo Terrini. Except Lombardi, all these players already have a victory on the Alps Tour.

The weather was great today at Disneyland golf course for the second round of Open International d’Ile de France. Beautiful sunshine, a slight breeze and perfect conditions to play in the morning. The leader at the club house once morning session completed their round was Paolo Terrini. The 34 year old signed for 69.

“I played very well but I missed many put for birdy. I only holed one on a par 4 but the two other birdies I made was on par 5 and I had 2 putts there. I have never won in France, there is always a first time…”

Hours after hours, the sun bit more and more faces, the atmosphere got warmer and warmer but still some players stayed focus and holed birdies to push Terrini out of the first step. Alan Bihan, winner in Austria one month ago, shot 66 and took the lead for a while.

Meanwhile, on course, young gun Lombardi seemed to handle very well with his swing and putting. His caddy suffered a lot, sweating and walking slowly but Nunzio always walked 15 meters ahead, with a good rhythm and determinate behaviour. The young Italian putted very well. He dropped 2 strokes due to bad lie and poor chip but he shown very strong skills to do something good during next rounds.

“I have been playing good for months but sometime you have trouble in mind and the results are not there. But today it was great and I played well and got the scores too.”

Then, at third place tie with Terrini, Thomas Fournier, who shot 66 in a perfect way, not drop shot. His coach, former LET player Stéphanie Arricau was there and obviously, the training was made the right way.

The cut is fixed at level par.
