Halfway Lead for Gros in Guadeloupe
France’s Sebastien Gros leads the Open de Saint Françaois – Région Guadeloupe (c) Agathe Séron
Sébastien Gros took by his own the halfway lead of the Open de Saint-François – Région Guadeloupe. The 23 year old player from Lyons signed for a 68-three-under-par card for -7 total. Brendan McCarroll, who managed to keep his Gösser Open title a few weeks ago, is just one shot behind with fellow Stephan Grant and Norgevian Jason Kelly.
Gros only recorded his third cut within eight apparences this season. In 2012, as a rookie, he was in contention on first event of the year in Morroco and finished at 8th position at final Alps Tour ranking. He has changed his coach a few weeks ago to work with Benoît Teilleria, former European Tour player.
« I really that I will be able to deal with tomorrow round as well as I did today. This sport always reminds you in one hand not to give up and in the other not to get excited to much. The goal is to be in contention or not to far on the last day and we all know that ‘money time’ happens during last nine holes, I’ll try to be there. »
The cut is fixed at +3 including three amateurs. The youngest one, Samuel Lamotte is 16 year old, teenager body, long and thin and kind of magic in his hands as far as short game is concerned. He holed his chip on the 18th to make the cut and admitted he was very happy to play during the weekend.
« I holed 3 other chips last that during my round. I would like to be a playing pro later and I plan to go and study in the USA to give me a chance to improve my game. »
