Gaspar leads Alps de Andalucia

Miguel Gaspar (POR) took the lead of the Alps de Andalucia today at La Monacilla Golf, finishing round 1 at -6. He is 2 strokes ahead of a group of 4 players: Andrew Scrimshaw (ENG) and Frenchmen Alexandre Daydou, Louis Cohen Boyer and Teremoana Beaucousin.
«  Today was a good day, I played very solid golf » Gaspar said. «  I drove the ball good. It is important on this course. If you’re driving good when in the middle, you have a lot of chances to perform well» he explained. « I had 8 birdies, I’m happy with my game, I could not ask for more » he continued.
26-year-old Miguel Gaspar leaves in Portugal about an hour away from La Monacilla Golf  course. But he only played here once. « It was 4 years ago and when I came for a practice round yesterday, I did not remember anything » he said.
The Alps de Andalucía is Gaspar’s second tournament on the Alps Tour circuit.
Also today, Michael Ludwig (AUT) shot a hole-in-one on hole 12, a par 3. He used an iron 8 to make the ball travel 167 meters to the hole.
Weather conditions were sunny with winds picking up in the afternoon and temperatures in mid 20s.
The Alps de Andalucia continues tomorrow with round 2. First tee time is at 8h local time.
