Dupuis leader, wolf pack on his toes

France’s Remi Dupuis confirmed his strong will of being part of the final top 5 of the Alps Tour. He scored back-to-back 67 to take short lead of the Open International de Normandie. As hunters chasing the leader, a huge group of seven players tied for second place with a total of -7. The cut is fixed at -1, none of the 10 amateurs made it. GALLERY HERE

Remi Dupuis really improved his confidence and golf since the beginning of the season. “I feel I can play 63 or 62. I missed a few putts today and I shot 4 under. I can handle the pressure much better than before and I do less mistakes. In March, I was nervous not to make the cut, now I am playing to win, so obviously it is a huge bonus. I really enjoy the time I am on course and I am much more relax than before. My target is the same, to be in top 5 or 6 of the final ranking to play on Challenge Tour next year.”

But this challenge won’t be a bed of roses. Not less than 17 players are one or two strokes back. Most of them are looking for maiden win as well except France’s Fabien Marty, Michael Hill and “oldy but goody” Frédéric Cupillard, French team of deasable golf coach. He set up a personal record today by holing six birdies in a row on back nine. Overnight leader Nicolas Mourlon had difficult day. He admitted he had to fight all day long with his swing and despite his 73 was quite satisfied to complete this 18 holes with this score.
