Berni Reiter leads with opening 64

Austrian Bernhard “Berni” Reiter leads Styrian Mountain Golf Open with opening 64, 7 under par. He holed 3 birdies and 2 eagles to shoot this wonderful score. The 22 year old player has one stroke advantage over strong pair, France’s Xavier Poncelet and Ireland’s Brendan McCarroll.

Styrian Mountain Golf-Open has a specific taste. This is the last tournament for Alps Tour players to enter Top 6 and obtain precious exemption for the first Stage of the qualifying European tour school. And thanks to the leader of the ranking, Chris Paisley, the 7^th will also get this free ticket as the Englishman is in the top 80 of the Challenge Tour as well.

France’s Xavier Poncelet could be the man to stop for his opponents. Poncelet is 9^th at the Alps Tour ranking and a place on the podium this week could make him a happy man. He shot a great 65, 6 under par to share second place with Ireland’s Brendan McCarroll. Both did not drop any shot and signed for perfect round. Among those who could earn their spot to stage 2, France’s Remi Dupuis who scored 69 and Norwegian Jason Kelly 70. Italian Cristiano Terragni, 8^th at the Alps Tour ranking, shot a poor 77 and desperately needs wonderful round tomorrow to make the cut.
