2018 Alps Tour Schedule announced
Alps Tour organizers have released the 2018 schedule that will see rising golf stars take part in 15 tournaments in 5 countries beginning in February.
The Winter Series held at the Sokhna Golf Club by the Red Sea in Egypt will launch the season on February 13th. The Alps Tour Grand Final at a yet to be announced location will conclude it on October 18th. It will be followed by the Qualifying School which will take place for the 7th year in a row at La Cala Resort in Malaga, Spain on December 9th.
For this 18th edition, about 35 new players will discover the exciting life of young professionals on the tour. Up to 144 participants from 23 nationalities are enlisted to participate in this year’s Alps Tour (60% Alps Tour members, 40% national players and invitations).
Two new venues are joining the Alps Tour this year: Golf Nazionale in Rome, Italy, and the Leon Golf Club in Leon, Spain. Other tournaments will be held in France and Austria.
With the first two tournaments in Egypt increasing their prize money by 10,000 euros each, the total amount of prize money will reach approximately 650,000 euros this year.
« On the eve of this 18th season, we wish to continue organizing great events and help young players to get better and experiment the life of a professional golf player » Director of Tour Operations Estelle Richard said. « The goal for these young players is to quickly perform at the next level. The Alps Tour is a stepping stone for the players to reach the Challenge Tour, the 2nd European division. We wish all the best to all our Members and national players a great season » she added.
The Alps Tour is a non profit association established in 2001 by four countries: Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland. Its goal is to give young professionals the opportunity to play and get a better experience of professional tournaments to play the Challenge Tour and the European Tour.
Italy’s Marco Durante is the President of the Association and of the Board of Directors which comprises all Federations’ representatives of the visited countries. Furthermore, four executive people administer the Tour and run the tournaments.
