Bechu in contention for maiden win

France’s Romain Bechu (picture Carlo Torchio) did enjoy the Sanremo Golf course and proved it. He took the lead by one at the very end of the day with -7 total after signing for 63. Overnight leader Spain’s Pedro Erice is one stroke back tie with Swiss Jon Andrea Noder.

Noder stayed on top of the leaderboard all day long. He scored back-to-back 66 and nobody could do better until the end of the afternoon. “I worked hard with my coach during winter but until now, I could only play well during practice round. This week, my game is solid. My putting is great and the greens are so good that I felt comfortable to read them. If you hit the ball well it rolled until the hole without any doubt.”

Overnight leader, Spain’s Pedro Erice, explained how strategy is important on such a course. “Every player has his own way to play each hole but for sure, one mistake is one bogey. I am happy to be in contention for winning. Last time it was in 2010 in Prunevelle in France and I hope this experience will help me tomorrow.”

Romain Bechu admitted that his game has been great for a while now and he is looking forward to do better than “turning around” good results. “I wish I had good results before but I could not always handle my game. I like this golf course first because the shape is perfect and second if you play well it awards you. But I totally understand that missing the greens drives people crazy. The rough is very dense near the greens and as they are firm it is pretty hard to chip well. I like very much the way it goes for me on course now and I hope tomorrow will be the same.”
