59 alert! Swiss Julien Clément shot magic number to share lead with Matt Wallace

Swiss Julien Clément former European Tour player wrote a chapter in the Alps Tour book signing for 59, -11 to share the lead of Vigevao Open at -13 with Alps Tour leader Matt Wallace who recorded 62.

Should he win, Matt Wallace would be the first player ever on the Alps Tour to record 4 wins during the same season and it would be 4 wins back to back. Julien Clément, who is playing in Italy his first tournament this year, said he was happy to be back on tournament but with different goal.

« I just finished a degree in Marketing in University, golf on tours is not a goal any more and I will become a father in September so I am very happy with my life. »

« I played very well during first seven holes then I hole for eagle on the 8th then for birdie on the 9th and the round like in a dream started. I chipped in 3 times on the back nine. So it was more than in a full season !
I have to admit that on the last hole I was a bit nervous and I felt the pressure about recording a 59. But the 18th is a par 5. If you hit the fairway, the birdie is quite easy to go for. I had 50 cm for 59 and it was a big one believe me !
My playing partners were great. When I chipped in for -7 Giorgio De Filippi had nice words to congratulate me then Nicolas Tacher was amazing, he kept on supporting me with high five each time I holed a birdie. When I finished, they gave me a big hug, it was great to share this with them. »
