Andrea Romano claims fourth Alps Tour title of the season at the Memorial Giorgio Bordoni

Como, Italy, October 9^th, 2025 – Rain once again played its part at the Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON on Friday, delaying the start of the final round by an hour. However, the conditions did little to trouble overnight leader Andrea Romano, who delivered another impressive performance to secure his fourth Alps Tour title of the 2026 season.

The Italian, already a three-time winner earlier this year, got off to a fast start with a birdie on the first, followed by three more on the front nine. He continued to build his advantage on the back nine, recording three birdies and two bogeys to sign for a final-round 65 (-5). Romano finished the tournament at 17-under-par, claiming his fourth victory of the season and the sixth of his Alps Tour career.

Spain’s Pablo Alperi kept the pressure on until the end, carding an excellent 64 (-6) to finish two shots behind the champion. His compatriot Mario Galiano Aguilar secured third place with an outstanding 63 (-7), while Álvaro Morales produced the round of the day, an impressive 61 (-9), to finish fourth on his own.

With the victory, Romano earns €7,000 and 6,525 Order of Merit points, moving to the top of the season standings ahead of France’s Alexandre Vandermoten and Maxime Legros. Alperi’s runner-up finish lifts him to fourth in the Order of Merit, just ahead of fellow Spaniard Mario Galiano Aguilar. Ireland’s Robert Moran, in sixth, and France’s Paul Franquet, in seventh, remain within striking distance of the top five as the battle for promotion reaches its decisive stage.

The season will come to a conclusion next week at the 2026 Hulencourt Alps Tour Grand Final, taking place from October 15–17. The top 50 players in the final Order of Merit will compete for the last title of the season, with promotion to the 2027 HotelPlanner Tour at stake for the top five in the final standings. With the Order of Merit battle still wide open, the Grand Final promises a decisive finish to the 2026 Alps Tour season.

Andrea Romano heads into the final round chasing a fourth title

Como, Italy, October 8^th, 2025 – Who can stop Andrea Romano? The Italian, already a three-time winner this season, has put himself in the best possible position to claim a fourth Alps Tour title in 2026 at the Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON.

Romano followed up his opening-round 64 (-6) with another 64 (-6) at Golf Club La Pinetina, this time without a single mistake on his card. He now takes a two-shot lead into the final round.

Robert Moran matched Romano’s 64 (-6) to move into second place at -10. The Irishman, who has finished runner-up three times earlier this season, will have a two-shot deficit to overcome if he is to claim his first Alps Tour title.

Five players share third place at -9: Italian amateur Matteo Manini, Dutchman Lars Keunen, and Spaniards Gonzalo Leal, Pablo Alperi and Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela.

The final round will begin at 9:40 a.m. local time, with players teeing off from both the 1st and 10th tees at Golf Club La Pinetina. In the event of a tie, a sudden-death playoff will determine the champion.

Andrea Romano: “I’m very happy with my game. I was pretty solid tee to green. On the first nine, I didn’t hole many putts and didn’t have a good feeling with my putting. Then, on the back nine, I tried something different with my setup and it felt really good. So I’m very happy, and I’ll try to win my fourth event.

“When you’re up there, you obviously hope to win. I came here mostly to get back into the game because I’m preparing for the second stage of the DP World Tour Q-School, but it would also be nice to win the Order of Merit of the Alps Tour. I don’t know if I can win it or not. It will change next year because I think the three of us who have won three tournaments will get a different category, but it’s always nice to win.”

Robert Moran : “I’m pretty happy with the last couple of days. To make only one bogey in two rounds is pretty good, and the 18th hole yesterday was playing pretty difficult. So I’m pretty happy with my golf.

“I’ve kept it in play pretty well and haven’t hit too many drivers. I played quite solidly today for 15 holes. I had a birdie putt on every hole, which is nice. I was quite poor over the last three holes, but my short game and putting saved me. It was nice to know that if I don’t hit the long-game shots I’m hoping for, my short game is pretty good.

“Honestly, I’m not even thinking about the Top 5. I’ve done a pretty good job of setting really short-term goals and focusing on each hole. I just try to do the best I can on that hole and then repeat it. I haven’t really been thinking about too many other things, so that’s pretty good.”

Amateur Matteo Manini leads after opening round of the Memorial Giorgio Bordoni

Como, Italy, October 7^th, 2025 – At home, Matteo Manini produced an impressive opening round at the Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON, taking the lead at Golf Club La Pinetina.

After opening with three consecutive pars, the Italian amateur found another gear, making an incredible seven consecutive birdies from the 4th to the 10th holes. He remained bogey-free for the rest of his round to sign an outstanding 63 (-7) and take sole possession of the lead. Manini’s performance came in wet conditions that persisted throughout the day, making his score even more impressive.

Andrea Romano, back on the Alps Tour after a spell on the HotelPlanner Tour and three victories earlier in the season, also made an excellent start. The Italian carded a 64 (-6), with a three-putt on the 18th preventing him from joining Manini at the top. He shares second place with compatriot Andrea Rota and Argentina’s Grego Ferrandez. France’s Théo Brizard and Spain’s Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela complete the Top 5 at -5, two shots behind the leader.

Round 2 will begin at 7:50 a.m. local time, with players teeing off from both the 1st and 10th tees at Golf Club La Pinetina. At the conclusion of the second round, the field will be cut to the top 40 professionals and ties, including all amateurs within the cut, who will advance to the final round.

Matteo Manini: “I felt very good on the course today. My game has been good for quite some time, and today I also managed to hole the putts to shoot 7-under with seven consecutive birdies. I would like to thank the organisers and the greenkeeping team because the course was in very good condition despite the rain.”

Andrea Romano: “I’m so happy to be back on the Alps Tour, especially here in Italy. I played a few HotelPlanner Tour events during the summer, but I also took some time to rest because I didn’t want to put too much stress on my body. As for today’s round, I’m very happy. The game is feeling pretty solid. I also had my coach with me, which was very nice. And I was playing with Alexandre Vandermoten. We’re good friends, so I’m happy to play with him and with such a good golfer.”

Grego Ferrandez: “It was a very good day. I played very solidly from tee to green and my game worked really well. I’ve been feeling good and playing well for several weeks, so I simply tried to enjoy myself and stick to my strategy. The conditions were difficult, so I stayed patient and took advantage of the opportunities I had.”

Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON set for a decisive final week of the 2026 regular season

Como, Italy, October 5^th, 2025 – Following a short break, the Alps Tour returns to action in Italy this week for the final event of the 2026 regular season, the Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON. Taking place from October 7th to 9th, the tournament will be played at Golf Club La Pinetina, located between Como and Milan. This year’s edition will mark the 12th staging of the event.

With the regular season coming to an end, the tournament represents a decisive moment for the players on the Order of Merit. With valuable points still up for grabs, those fighting to improve their position will have one final opportunity to make a move, while players currently inside the qualification spots will be looking to secure their place. At the conclusion of the tournament, the top 50 players on the Order of Merit will qualify for the 2026 Hulencourt Alps Tour Grand Final.

The tournament will be contested over 54 holes of stroke play, with a cut after 36 holes to the top 40 professionals and ties, including all amateurs within the cut. In the event of a tie after 54 holes, the champion will be decided by a sudden-death playoff.

A minimum prize fund of €47,000 will be on offer, along with 45,000 Order of Merit points.

The Field

After winning three tournaments earlier in the season, Italy’s Andrea Romano will make his return to the Alps Tour on home soil. He will be looking to reclaim the top spot on the Order of Merit from France’s Alexandre Vandermoten, who has won the last two events of the season at Longwy and Saint-Omer.

The battle for the Top 5 remains particularly intense, with just 1,250 points separating fourth-placed Paul Franquet from ninth-placed Alessandro Nodari. All the players still in contention for promotion to the HotelPlanner Tour will be present in northern Italy, setting up a crucial final battle for the five available promotion spots.

The fight for a place in the Top 50 will be equally important, with players aiming to secure their qualification for the 2026 Hulencourt Alps Tour Grand Final.

A total of 120 players, including 20 amateurs, will tee it up this week at Golf Club La Pinetina. The field features players from 14 different nations: Andorra, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Cameroon, England, France, Ireland, Italy, Jersey, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and Wales.

The Course

The 2026 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON returns to Golf Club La Pinetina, located in the peaceful surroundings of Appiano Gentile, between Milan and Como. Set within the 70-hectare “Appiano Gentile and Tradate Pinewood Regional Park”, the course offers a distinctive golfing environment where the natural landscape plays an important role in shaping the challenge.

La Pinetina has evolved considerably since it first opened in 1971. The original nine holes were designed by John Harris, before the layout was completed with a further nine holes by Gianni Albertini. More recent improvements, carried out under the direction of David Mezzacane, have helped preserve the character of the course while maintaining its relevance for modern golf.

Measuring 5,761 metres and playing to a par of 70, La Pinetina does not rely on length to test the players. Instead, its constantly changing elevations and tree-lined fairways place a premium on precision and decision-making. Players will need to carefully manage their lines and distances, with an ability to adapt to the natural contours of the terrain likely to prove particularly valuable throughout the week.

The course is immersed in a varied woodland landscape, with pine, oak, chestnut, Scots pine and birch trees creating a setting that is both picturesque and demanding. Away from the fairways, the surrounding landscape opens up to impressive views towards the Lombardy Alps and Monte Rosa, adding to the distinctive atmosphere of the venue.

With its combination of elevation changes, strategic holes and a natural setting, Golf Club La Pinetina will provide a demanding but rewarding test for the Alps Tour players competing in the 2026 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni.

Spain’s Asier Aguirre Izcue moves into the lead after Round 2 in Italy.

Como, May 8^th, 2025 – After two rounds of the 2025 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON, Spain’s Asier Aguirre Izcue moves into the lead with a two-day total of 14 under-par. Hugh Foley from Ireland and Marco Florioli from Italy are in a 2-way tie for 2^nd place at 11 under-par.

The second round of the 11^th edition of the 2025 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON, taking place at the prestigious Golf Club La Pinetina in Appiano Gentile, just outside Como. The day began with some sunshine, but conditions soon shifted to overcast skies accompanied by light winds that lingered throughout the rest of the round.

Since its inception in 2014, the event has been a mainstay on the Alps Tour calendar, it is named after and dedicated to the highly regarded golf instructor, Giorgio Bordoni who unexpectedly passed away in 2013 at the age of 48.

Round 2 Player Quotes

Asier Aguirre Izcue, 25, from Spain, leads the field at 14-under-par after two rounds at GC La Pinetina. He shot a sensational bogey-free second round of 9-under-par 61, with five birdies on the front nine (holes 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8) and four more on the back nine (holes 10, 12, 14, and 16). In the opening round, Aguirre carded a 5-under-par 65, despite a costly quadruple bogey on the par-5 3^rd hole—otherwise, he could have matched his second-round 61 on both days. Aguirre, has been playing well, “I tried to keep playing my own game for the whole day and was very solid with my iron shots.” He is consistent performer on the Alps Tour, having collected multiple top 10 finishes in recent seasons, including a T2 at GC La Pinetina in 2023. Aguirre is still in pursuit of his first Alps Tour victory and came agonizingly close in 2024 at the Gösser Open losing in a sudden-death playoff. With momentum on his side, he now has a strong opportunity to finally break through. Aguirre has “only hit 2 drivers on the front nine and maybe another 3 on the back nine. This course, you need to place the ball and keep it in play, and I found to have done that well so far. I stuck to my strategy and so far, it’s paying off. Once you’re in the fairways you can be aggressive with your approach shots and give yourself opportunities and today, I took advantage of that.” Aguirre feels, “very comfortable and I’m going to try my best tomorrow. My sponsor is here with me this week, and he is caddying for me. I’m very comfortable with him and it’s made the week enjoyable.”

Hugh Foley, 27, from Ireland is only 3 strokes off the lead with a two-day score of 11 under-par. He followed his opening round of 3 under-par, 67 with a fabulous 8 under-par, 62 that included 5 birdies on the front nine holes of the course, his back nine and 1 eagle, 2 birdies and 1 bogey on the back. Foley, “putted really well today. To shoot 62, you must roll it great on the greens, and that was the key for me. I also hit it straight off the tee, which gave me plenty of chances. On this course, you’ve got to keep it out of the trees and it’s not a long layout, so if you’re accurate, you’re hitting short irons in and giving yourself a lot of birdie looks.” This is Foley’s sixth professional event, “and this is the first time I’ve been in the final pairing, so I’m really excited about that. I just want to enjoy the experience, stick to the same game plan, and hopefully hole as many putts as I did today.”

Alongside Foley in a 2-way tie for 2^nd place with a total score of 11 under-par, Italy’s Marco Florioli, 20 years old. He shot a bogey-free 6 under-par, 64 with 3 birdies in each 9 holes.

Spain’s Javier Barcos, 23, currently ranked fourth in the Alps Tour Order of Merit and winner of the 2025 New Giza Open, moved into a 3-way tie for 4^th place after round two of the Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON. Barcos began the tournament with a 4-under-par 66 to sit tied for 9^th, but followed it up with a flawless, bogey-free 6-under-par 64 to climb the leaderboard. He started strong with back-to-back birdies on holes 1 and 2, and added four more on the back nine to post a two-day total of 10-under-par. Barcos felt “like when I played in the afternoon yesterday, the greens were much bumpier, due to the number of players and that’s normal, but, playing in the morning, the ball rolled much better and it allowed me to make more putts.” He made, “plenty of putts today especially during the first twelve holes. During the remaining 6 I still hit the ball well but not as many putts dropped.” With solid momentum, Barcos is firmly in contention heading into the final round, “I will keep hitting my irons the way I’ve been hitting, hopefully make some putts and be aggressive, that’s the game plan for tomorrow.”

In the 3-way tie for 4^th place at 10 under-par alongside Barcos there is: France’s Victor Veyret and England’s Mason Essam.

Switzerland’s Luca Galliano, 39, made a significant move up the leaderboard after a stunning second round. After opening with an even-par 70 on day one, Galliano fired a flawless 9-under-par 61 in round 2 to reach a two-day total of 9-under-par, putting him just five shots off the lead in a 2-way tie for 7^th place. “I made a solid putt on the Hole 2, which gave me a confidence boost and set a positive tone for the remainder of the round. I was able to capitalize on the opportunities that came my way, and it felt really good. What made the day even more meaningful was having my family there to support me—performing well in front of them was truly special. I’m looking forward to tomorrow and excited to carry this momentum forward.” His remarkable round included five consecutive birdies from holes 2 to 6, followed by four more on the back nine. Currently sixth in the Alps Tour Order of Merit, Galliano is aiming to climb the rankings further with a strong finish this week.

Alongside Galliano in the 2-way tie for 7^th place there is Italy’s Flavio Michetti.

The highlight of the day belongs to Italian amateur Riccardo Cavina who made a fabulous Albatross on the Par 5, 8^thhole.

Final Round

A total of 44 players (43 professionals and 1 amateur) made the cut which was set at 138 (-2).
The Final Round will begin at 8:00 a.m. local time from the 1^st and 10^th hole. The Final Pairing will tee off at 9:17 a.m. local time from the 1^st hole.

The 2025 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON Winner will walk away with €6,200 and earn 6,525 points toward the Order of Merit standings.

Three-Way Tie at the Top After Round 1 of Memorial Giorgio Bordoni Presented by AON

Como, May 7^th, 2025 – After the opening round of the 2025 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON, we have a very tight leaderboard. Co-leading at 6 under-par Italy’s Flavio Michetti and Edoardo Giletta and France’s Xavier Poncelet. There is a 5-way tie for 4^thplace at 5 under-par.

The opening round of the 11^th edition of the 2025 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by Aon teed off early this morning under overcast skies, with occasional bursts of sunshine and light winds. However, at 2:17 p.m. local time, the Tournament Director, Mr. Alessandro Pia had to suspend play due to inclement weather in the area. Play was able to resume at 3:15 p.m. local time under some overcast skies, chillier temperatures and some occasional light rain showers.

This tournament is taking place at the prestigious Golf Club La Pinetina in Appiano Gentile, just outside Como.

Round 1 Player Quotes

Flavio Michetti, 21 from Italy, co-leads alongside Xavier Poncelet and Edoardo Giletta after the opening round with a bogey-free, 6 under-par, 64. He teed off on the 1^st hole where he made 4 birdies in a row from hole 2 to hole 5, after making the turn he went on to make 2 more birdies on hole 10 and 17 to conclude the day. Michetti turned professional 2 years ago and has earned various top 3 finishes in the past few seasons. “I began my day with the only goal to have a solid game throughout the entire day. I must say though, that my putting worked extremely well today as I made only 25 putts. I was able to hole 3 putts over 10 meters. I’m satisfied as I put together a very good score but now my focus shifts to round 2 tomorrow.” Michetti is grateful about the “few hours on the range I spent with coach, Alberto Binaghi yesterday afternoon, we had a really good practice session together and I was able to find some great feelings I brought with me today. Obviously, there is always more work to do but it’s a great start.”

France’s Xavier Poncelet, 39, a past winner on the Alps Tour, co-leads after day 1 with a bogey-free 6 under-par, 64 making 3 birdies on the front nine and 3 more on the back nine to end his round. Poncelet attributes today’s result to the “hard work I put in this winter and now it’s been about 2 months I’ve been playing well, and I felt really good on the course for the whole day. Today the course was soft, and I felt I could be very aggressive when I placed my tee shots in the fairways. The greens were responsive too so you could create many birdie opportunities. The greenkeeping staff did an amazing job to have the course playable for us with all the rain.” Poncelet is pleased “as I hit 17 greens today and all aspects of my game were very solid.”

Edoardo Giletta, 27, from Italy, is the third player co-leading after a bogey-free opening round. He made 3 birdies on the front and back nine for a 6 under-par, 64. After his round, Giletta commented he “found the course a bit soft, but I didn’t make many mistakes today and my putter helped me a lot throughout the round. I strongly believe that my iron game adapts really well to this course, I hit them very well today and was able to hit many greens in regulations.”

England’s Mason Essam, 25, is in a 5-way tie for 4^th place with a first-round score of 5 under-par, 65. His best finish so far this season is a tie for 6^th place at our last event in Tunisia. For today’s opening round, Essam teed off on the front-nine where he made 4 birdies and 1 bogey, once he made the turn, he added 3 more birdies and 1 bogey. Essam experienced, “a weird situation on the 4^th hole today, my ball caught some wires that are in the air and the ball went close. However, I had to re-hit the shot and consequently missed the green but chipped in and I felt that situation turned my round around.” A lot of rain has fallen over G.C. La Pinetina over the past few days but Essam, “can’t believe how well the course dried out with the amount of rain we had the past few days. Obviously, some areas are wet and moist, but the greens are perfect. The greenkeepers did a fabulous job to prepare the course for us.” In Egypt and Tunisia, “I was really struggling with my game but worked really hard over the last few weeks, so now I’m just going to focus on keep doing the same things and not get too far ahead of myself.”

Nicolas Aparicio, 32, from France, who is the 2^nd player in the 5-way tie for 4^th place with an opening round of 5 under-par, 65. He teed off on hole 1 today where he made 2 bogeys and 3 birdies on holes 6, 8 and 9. Once Aparicio made the turn, he added 4 more birdies on holes 10, 14, 15 and 17. With two rounds left here at GC La Pinetina, “ I want to keep doing the same thing as I did today, I want to really enjoy myself out there.” Seven months ago, Aparicio became a father and: “After Lacanau Golf Open which will be disputed at the end of May, I have decided I will stop playing competitive golf so even though, I didn’t have a fabulous start making a bogey on hole 1, I was happy to be out there and I want to really enjoy these last few tournaments. With that mindset, it allowed me to enjoy the day and make the birdies.”

Alongside Essam and Aparicio in the 5-way tie for 4^th place with a score of 5 under-par, 65 there is: France’s Victor Veyret, Italy’s Marco Florioli and Spain’s Asier Aguirre Izcue.

The highlight of the day belongs to Italy’s Lucas Fallotico who made a fantastic Hole-In-One on the 133 meters, 2^ndhole with a Pitching Wedge.

The 2025 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON offers a total prize fund of €42,500, and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The winner will take home €6,200 and earn 6,525 points toward the Order of Merit standings.

The Tradition Continues: The 11th Edition of the Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON Returns This Week

Como, May 5^th, 2025 – After a successful Tunisian Swing and a brief break, the Alps Tour is ready to resume action this week with the 11^th edition of the 2025 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON, held in the picturesque northwestern region of Italy. The tournament will take place from May 7^th to 9^th, 2025, at the renowned Golf Club La Pinetina in Appiano Gentile, near Como.

Named in honor of the highly regarded golf instructor Giorgio Bordoni, this event celebrates his legacy following his unexpected passing in 2013 at the age of 48. Bordoni was a co-founder of the innovative Blue Team Golf Academy, a pioneering initiative in golf coaching. He also dedicated many years to the Italian Golf Federation, where he served as National Coach and achieved numerous accomplishments throughout his career.

Since its inception in 2014, the Memorial Giorgio Bordoni has been a mainstay on the Alps Tour calendar, except for 2020 when the event was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The tournament kicks off on May 6^th with the traditional Alps Tour Best Ball Aggregate to Par Pro-Am, which will begin with a shotgun start at 12:00 p.m. local time.

The Field

Four of this season’s five tournament winners are set to headline this week’s field, promising a highly competitive showdown. Among them are Switzerland’s Luca Galliano, currently ranked 6^th in the Order of Merit and winner of the season-opening 2025 Ein Bay Open; Spain’s Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela, the current Order of Merit leader and two-time winner this season with victories at the 2025 Red Sea Little Venice Open and the 2025 Tunisian Golf Open; and fellow Spaniard Javier Barcos, ranked 4^th and winner of the 2025 New Giza Open.

In addition to the season’s standout winners, nine of the top ten players in the current Order of Merit standings will also tee it up this week. France’s Quentin Debove ranked 3^rd will be in the field alongside, Italy’s Jacopo Vecchi Fossa ranked 5^th, Spain’s Mario Galiano Aguilar (7^th), Filippo Bergamaschi of Italy (8^th), Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney (9^th), and Italy’s Manfredi Manica, who rounds out the top 10.

Since it was established in 2014, the Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON has become a standout event on the Alps Tour, consistently showcasing emerging talent from across Europe and beyond. The inaugural title was claimed by Spain’s Borja Virto, with fellow countrymen Sebastián García Rodríguez (2019) and Ángel Hidalgo Portillo (2021) continuing Spain’s strong tradition in the event. Italy’s Guido Migliozzi, now a multiple winner on the DP World Tour, secured victory in 2018.

A standout moment came in 2022, when Italy’s Gregorio De Leo recorded a remarkable final-round 59 to capture the title and earn promotion to the Challenge Tour, now the HotelPlanner Tour. In 2023, the Netherlands’ Kiet Van der Weele earned his second win of the season with a nine-stroke victory margin. Most recently, in 2024, Italy’s Mattia Comotti captured the trophy with an impressive 15-under-par winning score.

This week, a field of 144 players representing 16 different nationalities will compete for the sixth title of the 2025 Season.

The tournament offers a total prize fund of €42,500, and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The winner will take home €6,200 and earn 6,525 points toward the Order of Merit standings.

The event will be contested over 54 holes of stroke play, with a cut made after 36 holes to the top 40 professionals and ties, plus amateurs within the cut. In the event of a tie at the conclusion of the final round, the tournament winner will be decided by a sudden-death play-off.

The Course

Nestled in the scenic woodlands of Appiano Gentile, just 35 kilometers north of Milan and 12 kilometers south of Como, Golf Club La Pinetina is set to host this week’s 2025 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON.

Originally opened in 1971 with a 9-hole design by John Harris, the course saw an expansion with an additional 9 holes designed by Gianni Albertini. It underwent further renovations in the 2000s, led by David Mezzacane. This 5,761 meters, par-70 course is renowned for its undulating terrain and natural beauty. It covers 70 hectares of the “Appiano Gentile and Tradate Pinewood Regional Park”. The course winds through a rich landscape of pine, oak, chestnut, Scotch pine, and birch trees. Players are treated to panoramic views of the Lombardy Alps and Monte Rosa, Italy’s second-highest peak.

While not particularly long by modern standards, the course’s hilly layout and intricate design demand accuracy, strategic thinking, and careful club selection. Its distinctive natural features and standout holes make Golf Club La Pinetina a memorable and challenging test for professionals and amateurs alike.

Mattia Comotti earns his first win at the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON.

Appiano Gentile, May 10 ^th 2024 – Italy’s Mattia Comotti wins the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON with a total score of 15 under-par. Fellow Italian player, Enrico Di Nitto concludes the tournament in 2^nd place only 1 stroke back. France’s Benjamin Kedochim continues his solid performance with a three-day score of 11 under-par. In 4^th place at 10 under-par, Italian amateur Alessandro Radig and only 1 stroke back at 9 under-par, French amateur Paul Franquet.

The final round of the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON began at 8:00 a.m. local time from the 1^stand 10^th hole and the final group teed off at 9:17 am local time from the 1^st hole. The players competing at the beautiful Golf Club La Pinetina were able to play with optimal scoring conditions as it was a mostly sunny day with temperatures around 23° Celsius and barely any wind.

The tournament is named after and dedicated to highly acclaimed golf instructor, Giorgio Bordoni who unexpectedly passed away in 2013 at the age of 48. Italy’s Mattia Comotti, 24, wins his 1^st Alps Tour title at the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON. He moved in the lead after yesterday’s round 2 and today he shot a 3 under-par, 67 to conclude the tournament with a three-day total of 15 under-par. Comotti turned professional at the end of July 2023 so this is his 1^st full playing season on the Alps Tour as a professional player. In today’s final round, he made 4 birdies and 2 bogeys on the front nine and then 2 more birdies and 1 bogey on the back nine. After his win, Comotti was very emotional and commented: “I’m extremely happy, I’m speechless to be honest. To earn my 1^st win as a professional in not even a full calendar year since I turned pro is truly amazing. This win is for my entire family, but especially my mom, who passed away. To be honest I wasn’t expecting this win, I hadn’t booked a hotel room for last night. Normally, I’m always right on the cut line, but today, to be playing in the final pairing today and earn the win is extraordinary.” Comotti took the time to: “congratulate my playing partner Enrico Di Nitto. He’s a great fighter and we were very close for the entire day. Had he made the putt on the 17^th hole, we would have been tied heading to the 18^th and it would have been a great fight. I had a short putt on the 18^th hole but I told myself if I miss I lose and need to play in a playoff against a great player so I really concentrated on making the putt.” For the rest of the season he plans on: “playing the entire Alps Tour season this year and trying to conclude the season as high as possible in the Order of Merit rank.”

Enrico Di Nitto, 31, from Italy, shot a final round of 4 under-par, 66 to conclude the tournament in 2nd place, only 1 stroke from the winning score with a three-day total of 14 under-par. He made 2 birdies and 1 bogey on the opening front nine and then made 3 more birdies to close out his round. Di Nitto is a past winner on the Alps Tour and has achieved various good finishes over the years.

France’s Benjamin Kedochim, 29, concludes the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON with a 3^rd place finish and a total score of 11 under-par. He made 3 birdies on the front nine and 3 bogeys on the back nine holes to conclude his final round with an even-par round. Kedochim has earned several top 5 finishes in his career but is continuing his pursuit in trying to capture his 1^st title on the Alps Tour. He has been playing consistently well since the beginning of the 2024 season and plans on continuing to work hard to hopefully earn a trophy in the upcoming events.

Mattia Comotti moves into the lead after day 2 of the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON.

Appiano Gentile, May 9^th, 2024 – After two rounds of the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON, we have a very close leaderboard. Italy’s Mattia Comotti moves into the lead with a two-day total of 12 under-par. France’s Benjamin Kedochim is in solo 2^nd place at 11 under-par. Enrico Di Nitto is only 1 back at 10 under-par. There is a 2-way tie for 4^th place with a French duo: Xavier Poncelet and Alexandre Daydou at 9 under-par.

It was another day with mostly sunny skies and a temperature around 23° Celsius that welcomed the players at Golf Club La Pinetina in Como, Italy, for the second round of the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON. Play began at 7:30 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole.

After his 8 under-par, 62 Comotti was very satisfied and happily commented: “Today was a spectacular day. I had the chance to hole out two chip shots, and for the rest, I played well. The few mistakes I made I was able to recover nicely so it was really a super day. This morning, I was more worried about making the cut, but as the day went on, I made a few putts and some birdies and gained some confidence from there to put together a good round.” Looking forward to playing in the final pairing tomorrow as the tournament leader, Comotti added: “It’s the first time I’ll be playing in the final pairing tomorrow, so I’m not sure what to expect. Hopefully, I’ll get a good night’s rest and be prepared for a good day.”

France’s Benjamin Kedochim, 29, moves into 2^nd place after two rounds at the 10^th edition of the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON. He was tied for 4^th place at 4 under-par after the 1^st round of the tournament but shot a bogey-free round today of 7 under-par, 63 with 7 birdies to move into 2^nd place with a two-day total of 11 under-par. Kedochim has earned numerous top 5 finishes in his career but is still looking to earn his 1^st title as he has never won an Alps Tour tournament. After his round, he commented: “I’m trying to stay focused on what I’m doing, on hitting shot by shot, and for now, I must say it’s working well. I’m playing a lot of tournament golf recently, I’m playing 14 tournaments in 15 weeks so it’s a long stretch of golf.” After his round, Kedochim also talked about how: “the course is in amazing conditions I must say. Today in the morning the greens were even better than yesterday, so I took advantage. You know, when you put together a bogey-free round, it’s always good. I tried to play safe, avoiding bad positions but giving myself the chance to make as many birdies as possible. I missed a few putts today; I could have easily been 9 or 10 under-par but I can’t complain with the day.” Kedochim has been playing well since the beginning of the 2024 season and he explained that: “I’ve been working a lot on my attitude and my behavior and concentrating on hitting one shot at a time and not getting too far ahead of myself. I can say it’s been working in my favor so far. Tomorrow, I plan on hitting every fairway, every green and do my best like always and see what will happen.”

Enrico Di Nitto, 31, from Italy, is 2 strokes off the lead after the 2^nd round of the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON. He was tied for 4^th place at 4 under-par after the 1^st round of the tournament and now is in a solo 3^rdplace with a two-day total of 10 under-par. He shot a bogey-free round during today’s round 2, for a 6 under-par, 64. Di Nitto is a past winner on the Alps Tour and has achieved various good finishes over the years. At last year’s edition, he concluded the tournament tied for 4th place, and he explained how he thoroughly likes this golf course. After his bogey-free round, he commented on how: “I played very solid today, I must say it was very similar to yesterday’s round. My tee-to-green game was very sharp. Today I was able to make a few more putts compared to yesterday I must say.” Di Nitto went on to add that he found GC La Pinetina, “handled the rain very well, I feel like it’s not necessarily playing any longer than usual, but the ball is flying a bit more compared to the past few years. The greens were amazing this morning, the ball rolled very true, and I found them slightly faster than yesterday.” For tomorrow’s final round, he plans on, “playing my game, shot by shot and hole by hole. I will see after the 18^th hole where that will have taken me.”

The highlights of the day belong to Italy’s Marco Florioli (am), who made a Hole-In-One on the 162 meters, par 3, 17th hole with a 7 iron, and France’s Baptiste Achard, who made a Hole-In-One on the 142 meters, par 3, 5th hole with a 9 iron.

The 10th edition of the Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON begins on Wednesday.

Como, May 6^th, 2024 – After a week off, the tour returns to action in the Northwestern part of Italy this week for the 10^thedition of the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON. The tournament will be played from May 8^th– 10^th, 2024 at the beautiful Golf Club La Pinetina in Appiano Gentile, near Como, Italy.

This event is named after and dedicated to highly acclaimed golf instructor, Giorgio Bordoni, who unexpectedly passed away in 2013 at the age of 48. He was one of the founders of the Blue Team Golf Academy, a unique and innovative initiative in the world of coaching. He also worked many years for the Italian Golf Federation as a National Coach, earning many accomplishments in his career.

This year, we reach the 10^th edition of the event which has been a consistent stop on the Alps Tour schedule since 2014. In 2020, it was the only year the event wasn’t played due to Covid-19.

Alongside the current season winners, 5 players in the top 10 in the Order of Merit will compete: France’s Benjamin Kedochim, who is in 5^th place, Luca Galliano from Switzerland, who is 7^th in the Order of Merit rank, Italy’s Manfredi Manica, who is in 8^th place, England’s Harry Goddard, who is 9^th in the rank and Austria’s Lukas Lipold rounds out the top 10.

The Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON title has been won by notable players over the years. Spain’s Borja Virto won the first edition of the event in 2014, while his compatriot Sebastian Garcia Rodriguez came to victory in 2019. Another Spanish victory occurred in 2021 with Angel Hidalgo Portillo. Current DP World Tour player Italy’s Guido Migliozzi triumphed in 2018.

In the 2022 edition, Italy’s Gregorio De Leo came to victory with a fabulous 59 in the final round. He became a Challenge Tour player at the end of that season.

During the last edition of the tournament, Netherland’s Kiet Van der Weele won the 2023 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON by 9 strokes, earning him his second win of the season. The following week, he captured another title, allowing him to gain access to the Challenge Tour, having won three events during the same season.

This week, there will be 144 players competing from 16 different nationalities for the title.

The 144 players in the field will compete for an overall prize fund of €40,000 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON winner will walk away with €5,800.00 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.

The 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON will be a 54-hole stroke-play event where a cut will be made after 36 holes to the top 40 players and ties. In case of a tie after 54 holes, a sudden-death play-off will determine the winner.

The Course

Golf Club La Pinetina in Appiano Gentile, Italy, is situated 35 km north of Milan and 12 km south of Como, will be the host of this week’s 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON. It is a very undulating 5761 meters par 70 course. It was designed by Harris Albertini Mezzalane and opened for play in 1971. It offers beautiful panoramic views of the nearby landscape that includes a view of Monte Rosa, which is the second-highest mountain in Italy, and the Alps of Lombardy.

Golf Club La Pinetina covers 70 hectares in the “Appiano Gentile and Tradate Pinewood Regional Park,” which is rich in pine trees, oak, and chestnut trees as well as Scotch pine and birch trees. It’s not a particularly long course, however the complex course design situated on a very hilly terrain, requires accuracy and precise strategy from each player. Thanks to the natural layout of this golf course, players will find notable holes that will allow this course to stand out from the rest.

The players competing this week will play the course set up as a 5761 meters, Par 70.
