Round 1 of the 2025 Gösser Open Ends with a Five-Way Tie for the Lead.
Maria Lankowitz, May 15th 2025- After the first round of the 2025 Gösser Open, we have a very tight leaderboard. Spain’s Javier Calles Roman and Asier Aguirre Izcue, Italy’s Gianmaria Rean Trinchero, France’s Theo Brizard and Maxime Legros are in a 5-way tie for the lead at 7 under-par, 65. There is a 9-way tie for 6th place at 6 under-par.
The first round of the 33rd edition of the Gösser Open teed off this morning at its traditional venue, Golf Club Erzherzog Johann in Maria Lankowitz, Austria. Players encountered a variety of weather conditions throughout the day. The morning featured overcast skies, light to no winds, and mild temperatures, while the afternoon brought stronger, swirling gusts and a noticeable drop in temperature.
The Gösser Open is one of the most important tournaments of the Alps Tour season and holds the distinction of being the oldest tournament on the Alps Tour schedule. This year, we are celebrating the 33rd edition of the tournament.
The event first began in 1993 at Steiermärkischer Golf Club Murhof, before moving to Golf Club Erzherzog Johann in 2000, where it has remained as the permanent host venue. Following the founding of the Alps Tour in 2001, the Gösser Open became part of the Tour schedule and has been a key event ever since. It is also widely regarded as the most traditional professional golf tournament in Austria.

Javier Calles Roman, 23, from Spain, who turned professional in May 2024, co-leads after the 1st round of the 2025 Gösser Open with a bogey-free round of 7 under-par, 65. He opened his round with a birdie on Hole 10 and continued his strong play with additional birdies on Holes 13, 14, and 15, before adding three more on Holes 1, 4, and 9 to close out the day. He said: “Today, went really well. I strongly believe that my course management was the key for my first-round score. I played really smart throughout the entire day and holed some important putts. The course conditions were perfect for scoring throughout this morning; we had little wind but with some difficulty pin positions. Obviously, conditions could change in the afternoon we this morning we could take advantage.” He strongly believes that he had a huge improvement in his putting from last week to this week and he was very thankful to see the work he put in pay off.
Italy’s Gianmaria Rean Trinchero, 29, finds himself alongside Calles Roman in the 5-way tie for lead with an opening round of 7 under-par, 65. In today’s opening round, he started on Hole 10 and quickly found his rhythm, carding four birdies on Holes 10,12,13 and 16. After making the turn, he added four more birdies on Holes 1, 2, 3, and 7. His only mistake of the day came on his final hole, the par-5 9th hole, where he made a bogey. Rean Trinchero is a two-time winner on the Alps Tour, with victories in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons. “My game was solid all around today. The only mistake came on my final hole, the 9th, where I hit a ball out of bounds and ended up with a bogey. It didn’t really bother me because I was committed to the shot—I just hit an errant one that cost me a stroke. I found a good sensation during my warm-up, which carried through the entire round. Every part of my game felt strong, from my driver to my sand wedge,” said Rean Trinchero after his opening round at the Gösser Open. “The course is much drier this week, than we’re used to, so I think we’ll see some lower scores. You can hit more irons off the tee, and at GC Erzherzog Johann, it’s really important to have your wedges dialed in and that’s something I’ll be focusing on over the next two rounds.”

Joining Calles Roman and Rean Trinchero in the five-way tie for the lead at 7-under-par, 65 is France’s Theo Brizard, 24. A regular on the Alps Tour over various seasons, Brizard is seeking his first title. He began his opening round on Hole 10, where he made four birdies on the back nine. After making the turn, he added four more birdies on the front nine, with his only bogey on the par 4, 6th hole. Brizard said: “it was a solid first round. I made sure to position myself well on the tougher holes and take advantage of the easier ones. Most importantly though, I was able to maintain a good playing rhythm throughout all 18 holes today. The course is in fabulous conditions, the fairways are firm, and the greens are receptive but not overly soft. Let’s say everything was just right! Let’s say the conditions were favorable for a good score but not easy. Today’s round confirmed that the gameplan I selected was good and it left me eager to get back out there.”

Asier Aguirre Izcue, 25, of Spain, the winner of last week’s Alps Tour event in Italy, shares the lead in the five-way tie after Round 1. Aguirre claimed his first Alps Tour title just a few days ago and has a strong history at GC Erzherzog Johann, having narrowly missed out on victory in a sudden-death playoff during the 2024 edition of the Gösser Open. “My game today was very similar to last week, especially my shots into the green. They were very good. I made some important putts today, the greens here aren’t easy are they are very grainy. The highlight of the round was on the par 4, 12th hole where I holed out from 70 meters. In the afternoon, the conditions worsen quite a bit compared to this morning as we had a lot of wind gusts and the temperature dropped, which made it more difficult. However, I stayed focus on my game, and it was a great day despite the tougher conditions. For sure the win last week gave me extra confidence and now I will try to continue the same way the rest of the tournament” explained Aguirre Izcue after his opening round.

France’s Maxime Legros, 23, is the final player in the share of the lead after the opening round with a score of 7 under-par, 65. He made 3 birdies and 2 bogeys on his opening front-nine while once he made the turn, he made three birdies in a row from Hole 10 to 12, then eagled the 13th hole and added one more birdie on hole 16 to end his round. “I didn’t hit the ball as good as I could have from the tees, but I kept it in play and gave myself many birdies opportunities. The course is in great shape this week, greens are great which is why I was able to make so many birdies. There are a lot of birdie opportunities on this course if you can place the ball in the correct spots from the tees,” said Legros. “I feel like we didn’t get the best tee time wave as playing in the afternoon today with the wind gusting and some rain didn’t help but I had the right mindset and kept focused on my game instead of external factors.”

The competitors this week, are battling it out for an overall prize fund of €42,500 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The winner of the 33rd edition of the Gösser Open will earn, €6,200 and 6,525 points. Once Round 2 is completed, a cut will be to the top 40 professionals and ties, plus amateurs within the cutline.

France’s Maxime Legros is in the lead after Round 1 in France.
Metz, June 14th, 2024- After the first round of the 21st Open International de la Mirabelle d’Or, France’s Maxime Legros is in the lead with a 6 under-par. In a 2-way tie for 2nd place at 5 under-par: France’s Nicolas Muller and Netherlands’s Vince Van Veen. Italy’s Davide Buchi and Austria’s Maximilian Steinlechner are in a 2-way tie for 4th place at 4 under-par.
The first round of the 21st edition of the Open International de la Mirabelle d’Or, being played at its regular host, Golf Domaine de la Grange Aux Ormes near Metz, France, began at 7:30 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole. The 144 players in the field disputed today’s round 1 under complicated weather conditions, as there were mostly cloudy skies, on-and-off rain showers, windy conditions, and a temperature around 16° Celsius. This is the 21st edition of the tournament, and it has been part of the Alps Tour schedule since 2005.

Maxime Legros, 22, from France, leads after the first round of the 2024 Open International de La Mirabelle d’Or with a fabulous bogey-free, 6 under-par, 64 He made 2 birdies on the front nine holes, and, after making the turn, he went on to make 4 more birdies on the back nine to conclude his day. After his round, Legros commented: “My 64 bogey-free, today was a grind! The wind was blowing 50km/h, so I had to stay focused and patient the entire round. I’m really happy about my attitude and the way I’ve been playing the past couple of weeks! It’s very rewarding.” He added that he found: “The course is playing tough this week. As I said, a lot of wind and some high rough on both sides of the fairway. The course is super firm as well, and it’s tough to hit your target. I believe patience will 100% be the key to being successful here this week. I want to remain calm and patient and don’t be too aggressive with my decisions.” Legros also mentioned how: “I’m happy with the strategy I had off the tee today, so I’ll try to do the same for the rest of the tournament!”
France’s Nicolas Muller, 23, is in a 2-way tie for 2nd place after the first round of the 2024 Open International de La Mirabelle d’Or with a bogey-free 5 under-par, 65. He made 3 birdies in a row to start his round and then added one more birdie on the front nine and one on the back nine to end his day. His best finish so far this season was at the 2024 Ein Bay Open and the 2024 Gösser Open, where he tied for 4th place. After his opening round, Muller commented on how: “My game today was very solid, especially my short game and putting. I’m happy because the conditions were tough with the wind and the rain we had. The weather conditions influenced my game in some aspects but I tried to hit simple shots, just try to hit the maximum of Fairways and greens. Basically, my main goal was just to stay in play, and only if I was in a position then I was a little bit more aggressive, but to be honest with you, in most holes, I tried to respect the course.” Muller added that: “over the last few months, I trained a lot my wedges because that has been my weakness. Right now, I want to be focused on the process for tomorrow and Sunday and not think about the score. That’s for me the most important.”
The winner of the 2022 Fred Olsen Alps de La Gomera, Netherland’s Vince Van Veen, 27, is in the 2-way tie alongside Muller for 2nd place after round 1 with a score of 5 under-par, 65. After making a hole-in-one back in 2019 here at Golf Domaine de la Grange Aux Ormes, Van Veen made another hole-in-one during today’s round 1 on the par 3, 5th hole with a Pitching Wedge from 153 meters. Alongside his fantastic hole-in-one, he made a total of 4 birdies and 1 bogey during his 1st round of the tournament. His most recent best finish occurred at the 2024 Lacanau Alps Open, where he concluded the tournament tied for 3rd place. Van Veen explained that he experienced: “a very enjoyable round of golf today with some challenging winds. I found that I managed myself well and got a little run going on my back nine, the course’s front nine. We had almost all 4 seasons in one, sun, rain, and wind. It affected some shots I must say, but you can adjust to that fortunately.” He plans on: “focusing on hitting a little more quality shots over the next two days. The bad ones I hit in good spots, luckily, but I can be a little better overall.” Van Veen also commented on how he: “likes the mixture of holes and the shot shapes you have to use around this golf course, so I really enjoy playing here.”
Davide Buchi from Italy, 27, concludes his round 1 in a 2-way tie for 4th place with a score of 4 under-par, 66. He has earned numerous good finishes over the years but is looking for his first title on the Tour. During today’s opening round, he made 5 birdies, 2 bogeys, and 1 double bogey on the front nine holes and then made 3 more birdies on the back nine to end his round. Buchi was: “satisfied with how I played today also because the conditions were not easy, there was a lot of wind and rain so I am overall very pleased. The goal, of course, is to keep playing well and play each hole like its own and not get too far ahead.”
Alongside Davide Buchi in the 2-way tie for 4th place for a first-round score of 4 under-par, 66, there is the winner of the 2024 Gösser Open, Austria’s Maximilian Steinlechner.
A past winner on the Alps Tour, France’s Damien Perrier, 34, finds himself in a 6-way tie for 6th place only 3 strokes off the 1st round lead at the 2024 Open International de La Mirabelle d’Or with a round of 3 under-par, 67. He made 4 birdies and 1 bogey throughout his opening round. He earned numerous top-10 finishes and won on the Alps Tour in 2009 at the Open International de Normandie. After his round, Perrier proudly commented: “I’m very pleased with my opening round. It’s a very tough course here, the set-up of the course is difficult as it requires a lot of thought, concentration and strategy. I played well, I hit 17 greens today and gave myself many chances. The only green I missed today was the only bogey that was on the card. This morning it wasn’t easy; the weather conditions were much different than what we had in the practice rounds. We went from basically summer during the pro-am and practice rounds to today, where it was pretty much winter, which made it very tough out there.”
Baptiste Achard, 26, from France, concludes his round 1 at the 2024 Open International de La Mirabelle d’Or alongside Perrier in the 6-way tie for 6th place with an opening round of 3 under-par, 67. Achard made 2 birdies and 2 bogeys on the front nine holes, once he made the turn, he made 3 more birdies to end his round. Once he concluded his first round, Achard was satisfied with how his day went as he was able to: “hit a lot of fairways today, that was mainly due to the adverse weather conditions which forced me to be more focused from the tees. Overall, I’m very happy with my first round and the position I’m currently in. I would like to continue with the same mindset over the next two days and try to hit the same number of fairways, if not more, tomorrow. I really think that being in the fairways this week will be of big advantage.”
Alongside Damien Perrier and Baptiste Achard with a first-round score of 3 under-par, 67 there is England’s Robert Holden, France’s Paul Elissalde, and amateur Louis Bonte and Austria’s Daniel Hebenstreit.
The 144 players are contending a prize fund of € 40.000 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The winner of the 2024 Open International de La Mirabelle d’Or, will earn the winning check of €5,800 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.
Round 2
The second round of the 2024 Open International de La Mirabelle d’Or will begin again at 7:30 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole.
Once Round 2 is completed, a cut will be made to the top 40 players and ties. In case of a tie after 54 holes, a sudden-death play-off will determine the winner.

Brandon Kewalramani leads after Round 2 at the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar
It was another beautiful day with sunny skies and a warm temperature that welcomed the players at Club de Golf Playa Serena in Almería, Spain, for the 2nd round of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar. It’s a new tournament in the 2024 Alps Tour Schedule. Play began at 8:00 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole. The perfect weather conditions allowed the players competing for the title, the opportunity to take advantage of optimal scoring opportunities.
Round 2 Player Quotes
Brandon Kewalramani, 25, from the United States of America, concludes the 2nd round of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar in the lead with a two-day total of 10 under-par. He was tied for 3rd place after yesterday’s round 1 with a 4 under-par, 66 while today he shot a 5 under-par, 65 making 6 birdies and 1 bogey. This is his 1st year competing on the Alps Tour, and he has been performing well since the beginning of the season. He won the 2024 Austrian International Par 3 Championships, which took place ahead of this year’s 2024 Gösser Open. After he concluded his round 2, Kewalramani commented: “I played really solid today, the putter was working well today, I felt really comfortable over the putts, my iron play was great too. I felt like I could really give myself a lot of birdie chances today, and I was able to convert them. When I did get in trouble, my putter was able to help me out.” He added that he: “hasn’t looked at the scoreboard yet, and I probably won’t be looking much at the leaderboard tomorrow. I like to stay in my own world out there and I will try to do the same tomorrow, I’ll keep my head down and mind my own game and hopefully after 18 holes tomorrow it’ll work out.” When asked about potentially earning his first win on the tour tomorrow, Kewalramaniexplained: “It would obviously mean a lot to win, but you know if it doesn’t happen tomorrow, the experience I gained from myself in the situation last week in France in Bordeaux and again here will help my game regardless of what happens. Hopefully, I will try to take more advantage on the shorter par4s as I feel that’s where I left some shots out there today, but all in all, I will try to keep doing what I’ve done the past two days.” Kewalramani also wants to: “Thank the Alps Tour, the host club Club de Golf Playa Serena, and the Spanish Federation for putting on such a great event. The golf course is in great shape, and it’s truly a pleasure to compete here. I’m looking forward to another round tomorrow.”
Italy’s Mattia Comotti, 24, is in a 4-way tie for 2nd place after two rounds at the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar. He was tied for 3rd place at 4 under-par after the 1st round of the tournament and shot a 2 under-par, 68 today with 1 eagle, 3 birdies and 3 bogeys to move into the 4-way tie for 2nd place with a two-day total of 6 under-par. Comotti won his 1st Alps Tour title at the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON. He turned professional at the end of July 2023, so this is his 1st full playing season on the Alps Tour as a professional player. After his round, Comotti commented: “Today I played very solidly, especially my long game, my putting wasn’t however as sharp as it was yesterday. Overall, it still is a positive score. The course is proving itself to be quite tough; the scores are much higher than what I expected at the beginning of the week. It’s a course which is very difficult to put a very low under-par round together, maybe because the greens aren’t extremely fast or because the back nine are quite hard.” When asked about being in the lead after the morning wave, he added: “I didn’t expect to be in the lead for the moment, most likely this afternoon, someone will pass me, but this morning with no wind and relatively easy pins I thought the scores were going to be lower than what they ended up being.” Looking ahead into tomorrow’s final round where he will have a chance to earn his 2nd Alps Tour title, Comotti plans to “take time to rest and recharge the batteries this afternoon as it will be a long day tomorrow where a lot of wind is expected so I want to be rested and ready for the new day.”
Maxime Legros, 22, from France, concludes his round 2 of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar with a total score of 6 under-par and finds himself in a 4-way tie for 2ndplace alongside Mattia Comotti, Mario Galiano Aguilar and Marcos Pastor. He shot a 4 under-par, 66 in today’s round with 5 birdies and 1 bogey. After his round he commented: “Today went very well, I have been playing better for a couple a weeks now and today I finally felt confident over the ball. I really enjoyed the course this week! It’s fair and rewards you when you are able to hit good shots. We must take advantage of the front 9 because on the back 9, there are no par 5s, and birdies are much tougher to get.” Legros tomorrow plans on:“Just keep doing what I have been doing the past couple of days. I’ll have to start off strong and make a few birdies on the front 9 to set me up well for the rest of the tournament. This afternoon, I’ll make a good recovery, and tomorrow, I’ll just try to stick to my strategy and hope it goes as planned!”
Spain’s Mario Galiano Aguilar, 28, moves into a 4-way tie for 2nd place after two rounds of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar. He was tied for 18th place at 1 under-par after the 1st round and shot a 5 under-par, 65 in today’s round 2 to conclude with a two-day total of 6 under-par. Galiano Aguilar has earned several Top 10 finishes on the Alps Tour throughout his playing career but is looking to break through and earn his 1st win on the tour. After his 5-under-par round, Galiano Aguilar commented: “I’m very happy, it’s been an important change from yesterday to today. Yesterday I didn’t hit it well from the tee, but I was able to get 1 under-par round. When I finished, I changed the set-up of the Driver. I gave it one more degree, and today it went much better. From the tee, I played phenomenal today, and I have also putted better, and it was visible in my results.” He also added that he’s: “hitting the ball much more comfortably but especially with myself. At the beginning of the year, I decided not to listen to anyone, and work on my own and that has been the key for me, I am much more comfortable in all aspects. I started the season playing well in Egypt, and that has helped to give me confidence and keep going so far this season.”
In the 4-way tie for 2nd place alongside Comotti, Legros, and Galiano Aguilar with a two-day total of 6 under-par there is Spain’s Marcos Pastor. He currently holds the course record at Club de Golf Playa Serena with a 64 back in 2013 when his fellow countryman Pol Bech won the Alps Tour event. He was tied for 3rd place after yesterday’s round 1 with a 4 under-par, 66 and during today’s round 2 he made 4 birdies and 2 bogeys for a 2 under-par, 68.
Final Round
A total of 43 players made the cut which was set at 140 (Par).
The Final Round of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar will begin at 8:15 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole. The final pairing will tee off at 9:32 a.m. local time from the 1st hole.
In case of a tie after 54 holes, a sudden-death play-off will determine the Winner of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar. The Winner of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar will earn €5,800.00 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.
