Round 1 Suspended at Longwy Alps Open with Italy’s Mattia Comotti Leading

Longwy, September 4th, 2025 – Round 1 of the 2025 Longwy Alps Open was suspended at 7:12 p.m. local time due to flooded greens, and play was officially called for the day at 7:45 p.m. by Tournament Director Mr. Alessandro Pia, due to continued course flooding and fading daylight. With several groups still on the course, Italy’s Mattia Comotti holds the current clubhouse lead after posting an 8-under-par round. Play is scheduled to resume at 8:00 a.m. Friday morning, as the second round gets underway shortly after.

As the 2025 Alps Tour season heads into its final stretch, this week’s tournament takes on added significance, with players competing not only for the event title but also for crucial Order of Merit points that could dramatically impact the season standings.

With only a few events remaining before the Alps Tour Grand Final, the battle for a coveted top-five position in the standings and the career-changing promotion to the 2026 HotelPlanner Tour is more intense than ever. For many, this is a chance to solidify their standing; for others, it’s a final push to break through. Every shot matters as the stakes continue to rise in this pivotal moment of the season.

Now in its second consecutive year on the Alps Tour calendar, the tournament returned this week following a successful inaugural edition in 2024, where France’s Damien Perrier claimed the title with a three-day total of 14-under-par. With Round 1 now complete, the 2025 edition is already shaping up to deliver another exciting chapter in the event’s young history.

Round 1 Player Quotes

Mattia Comotti, 25, from Italy, winner of the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON, is the clubhouse leader with an 8 under-par, 64 as round 1 was suspended due to flooded greens and darkness. He turned professional at the end of July 2023, so this is his second full playing season on the Alps Tour as a professional player. He carded two birdies on the front nine (holes 6 and 8) before going on a remarkable run on the back nine, where he made four consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 15 and capped it off with an eagle on the 16th hole. “Obviously, today the round was really good, I played really solid from the tee and took advantage of the opportunities on the greens,” said Comotti. “I played the DP World Tour Q-School in Belgium last week, so it didn’t really feel like a summer break. That helped me keep the game sharp and ready to compete again.” Reflecting on his performance, he added, “The mindset for the next two rounds will be the same as today’s. It’s a long tournament and we’re just getting started. Unlike the beginning of the season, I didn’t make any stupid mistakes today and I putted very well. I had a great stretch of holes from 12 to 16, four birdies and an eagle. On hole 14, I holed a 12-meter putt, and that gave me a lot of energy and momentum going forward.” Looking ahead, Comotti emphasized the importance of strategy at UGolf Longwy International“This week, the key to success will probably be patience and accuracy off the tee. You really need to place the ball well.”

While Comotti currently holds the clubhouse lead, Spain’s Borja Martin remains a strong contender at 7-under-par with three holes left to play in his first round.

France’s Paul Franquet, 20, currently sits in a tie for third place after carding a 6-under-par 66 in his first round as a professional. Having only turned pro two days ago, he showed no signs of nerves as he firmly placed himself in contention. His round featured an eagle on the 6th hole, five birdies on holes 3, 9, 10, 13, and 14, and a single blemish with a bogey on the 11th hole. Franquet, who has already recorded multiple top-three finishes as an amateur, looks poised to make a strong statement early in his professional career. Reflecting on his round, Franquet said, “The round went pretty well, I’m very happy with the way I managed the course. I was very patient all day, and the birdies came toward the end.” After taking a short break to reset mentally, he worked intensively with his coach over the past two weeks to prepare for the event. “We worked hard to be sharp for this tournament,” he added. “I think the turning point came on the third hole of my round (my 12th hole), where I made birdie to get to 3-under. That gave me a good boost for the finish.” Looking ahead, he’s staying grounded: “I just want to keep focusing on what I’m doing well for the next round and stick to the same game plan all week. The key is to stay focused on myself and my game.”

Alongside Franquet, France’s Victor Veyret, 28, and Italy’s Lucas Fallotico, 22, both concluded their opening rounds with a 6-under-par 66. After signing his scorecard, Veyret shared, “It was a nice round. I kept a really good attitude from this morning all the way to the end. I played Q-School last week, so that was a good warm-up for today. I know tomorrow will be tough, it usually is after a good round like this, but I’m ready to accept whatever happens. I believe I can make a difference with my attitude.”

France’s Baptiste Achard, 27, is also currently tied at 6-under-par but has yet to complete his first round.

Mason Essam, 26, from England, currently sits in seventh place on the provisional leaderboard after posting an opening-round 5-under-par 67. He got off to a steady start with birdies on holes 2 and 6, briefly set back by a bogey on the 7th, but bounced back immediately with another birdie on the 8th hole. On the back nine, he made a strong move with a brilliant eagle on hole 12 and added a final birdie on the 16th to close out a solid first round and stay well within striking distance of the lead. “Today was pretty steady,” Essam said. “I’ve been working a lot on my strategy and sticking to a process. During the break, I put in a lot of work on my game but also enjoyed some much-needed time at home. I played the first stage of DP World Tour Q-School and played well, so I knew my game was in a decent spot coming in.”Reflecting on his round, he added, “The eagle on 12 definitely got me going, I hit some lovely approach shots coming in after that.” Looking ahead, Essam is keeping it simple: “It’s me against the course, I will just stick to my strategy and see how I get on. Over the next few days, I’ll just focus on doing me. If I do that, whatever happens, I’ll be happy.”

Round 1 of the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open: Livio, Aparicio, and Debove are in the Lead

Round 1 of the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open: Livio, Aparicio, and Debove are in the Lead

Lacanau-Océan, May 22nd, 2025– After Round 1 of the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open, the leaderboard is tightly packed. Italy’s Federico Livio, alongside France’s Nicolas Aparicio and Quentin Debove, lead the field with an impressive 5-under-par, 67. In a closely contested race, there is a 9-way tie for 4th place at 4-under-par, featuring Spain’s Javier Calles Roman and Jorge Maicas, Italy’s Luca CavalliMattia Comotti, and Elia DallanegraKiet Van der Weele and Jerry Ji from Netherland, as well as Estonia’s Sander Aadusaar and France’s Xavier Poncelet.

Players faced mostly sunny skies with some wind conditions as they battled through the first round of the tournament. This is the second edition of the Lacanau Alps Open and the second time UGolf Lacanau hosts a professional golf tournament.

Round 1 Player Quotes

Federico Livio, 26, from Italy, co-leads after the opening round of the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open with a 5-under-par, 67. He recorded one birdie and one bogey on the front nine, then dropped a shot on the 10th hole before bouncing back with birdies on the 12th, 13th, 16th, and 17th hole. He ended his round in style with an eagle on the par-5 18th. Still in search of his first professional victory, Livio has consistently performed well, collecting multiple top-20 finishes in his career so far. “Today went really well,” said Livio“I didn’t get off to the best start, but I stayed calm because I knew the round could turn around at any moment. This morning, it was a bit easier to play as there was no wind at all. Toward the end, conditions got tougher, but despite that, I still managed to make a lot of birdies. The course this week is beautiful, it’s in fantastic shape, and the greens are perfect for making putts.” Reflecting on his mistakes, he added: “As always, bogeys can be avoided, but in my case, they came from two bad shots, so they were a bit unavoidable. Overall, I’m happy with how I managed the round.” Looking ahead to the rest of the tournament, Livio remains focused on his own game. “My goal this week is to keep building on my game—and who knows? We’ll see what happens in the next two rounds. I’ll just stick to what I’m doing without worrying about what anyone else is doing. Finishing with an eagle today always gives you a great boost, especially heading into the next two rounds. I was expecting a birdie, and instead, I got something more.”

France’s Nicolas Aparicio, 32, finds himself alongside Livio in the 3-way tie for the lead with an opening round of 5-under-par, 67. He teed off on hole 1 and carded three birdies on the front nine on holes 5, 6, and 9, offset by a bogey on the 8th. On the back nine, he added two more bogeys at holes 12 and 16 but bounced back with birdies on 14, 15, and 17, before ending his round with an eagle on the par-5 18thAparicio is playing what he considers, for now, his final competitive tournament. “I’m really happy with this first day, I’m close to home this week and it’s a special event for me,”he said. “Especially since it’s my last tournament, I must say, I’ve been feeling really good and relaxed on the course ever since I made the decision to stop competitive golf and go back to teaching. Seven months ago, I became a father, and that played a big part in my decision to step back from competition and focus on coaching. I think I’ll still play a few tournaments each year because I want to keep the competitive edge alive so I can continue to teach young players at a high level.” Adding to the positive start, Aparicio is enjoying the support of a close friend throughout the event. “This week, playing very close to home, I have a friend with me for the whole tournament who’s caddying. It’s pretty cool to be able to share the week with him. For the next few days, I plan to keep the same mindset and to enjoy myself and have fun.”

Joining Livio and Aparicio in a three-way tie for the lead at 5-under-par, 67 is Quentin Debove, a 23-year-old from France. Currently ranked fifth in the Order of Merit standings, he has recorded two runner-up finishes in Egypt earlier this season. Today, he began his opening round on Hole 1, carding two birdies on the front nine. “I played well especially on the front nine as I didn’t make any mistakes,” he said. “Then I took advantage of the easier holes on the back nine. Overall, I must say it was a good day.” After the turn, Debove dropped a shot with a bogey on the 10th but quickly recovered with an eagle on the par-5 13th, hitting a 6-iron into the green, followed by consecutive birdies on the 16th and 17th to close out a strong first round. “Today, I hit a lot of fairways and a lot of greens, which made it a stress-free round,”he added. “My course management was definitely key, I played really well in the wind and the plan is to do the exact same thing tomorrow!”

Round 2

The second round of the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open will begin again at 7:45 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole.

Once Round 2 is completed, a cut will be made to the top 40 professional players and ties, plus any amateurs who fall within the cut line. In case of a tie after 54 holes, a sudden-death play-off will determine the winner.

Brandon Kewalramani leads after Round 2 at the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar

Roquetas de Mar, May 30th, 2024 – After two rounds of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de MarBrandon Kewalramani from the United States of America leads with a two-day total of 9 under par. In a 4-way tie for 2nd place at 6 under-par: Italy’s Mattia Comotti, France’s Maxime Legros, Spain’s Mario Galiano Aguilar, and Marcos Pastor.

It was another beautiful day with sunny skies and a warm temperature that welcomed the players at Club de Golf Playa Serena in Almería, Spain, for the 2nd round of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar. It’s a new tournament in the 2024 Alps Tour Schedule. Play began at 8:00 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole. The perfect weather conditions allowed the players competing for the title, the opportunity to take advantage of optimal scoring opportunities.

Round 2 Player Quotes

Brandon Kewalramani, 25, from the United States of America, concludes the 2nd round of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar in the lead with a two-day total of 10 under-par. He was tied for 3rd place after yesterday’s round 1 with a 4 under-par, 66 while today he shot a 5 under-par, 65 making 6 birdies and 1 bogey. This is his 1st year competing on the Alps Tour, and he has been performing well since the beginning of the season. He won the 2024 Austrian International Par 3 Championships, which took place ahead of this year’s 2024 Gösser Open. After he concluded his round 2, Kewalramani commented: “I played really solid today, the putter was working well today, I felt really comfortable over the putts, my iron play was great too. I felt like I could really give myself a lot of birdie chances today, and I was able to convert them. When I did get in trouble, my putter was able to help me out.” He added that he: “hasn’t looked at the scoreboard yet, and I probably won’t be looking much at the leaderboard tomorrow. I like to stay in my own world out there and I will try to do the same tomorrow, I’ll keep my head down and mind my own game and hopefully after 18 holes tomorrow it’ll work out.” When asked about potentially earning his first win on the tour tomorrow, Kewalramaniexplained: “It would obviously mean a lot to win, but you know if it doesn’t happen tomorrow, the experience I gained from myself in the situation last week in France in Bordeaux and again here will help my game regardless of what happens. Hopefully, I will try to take more advantage on the shorter par4s as I feel that’s where I left some shots out there today, but all in all, I will try to keep doing what I’ve done the past two days.” Kewalramani also wants to: “Thank the Alps Tour, the host club Club de Golf Playa Serena, and the Spanish Federation for putting on such a great event. The golf course is in great shape, and it’s truly a pleasure to compete here. I’m looking forward to another round tomorrow.”

Italy’s Mattia Comotti, 24, is in a 4-way tie for 2nd place after two rounds at the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar. He was tied for 3rd place at 4 under-par after the 1st round of the tournament and shot a 2 under-par, 68 today with 1 eagle, 3 birdies and 3 bogeys to move into the 4-way tie for 2nd place with a two-day total of 6 under-par. Comotti won his 1st Alps Tour title at the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON. He turned professional at the end of July 2023, so this is his 1st full playing season on the Alps Tour as a professional player. After his round, Comotti commented: “Today I played very solidly, especially my long game, my putting wasn’t however as sharp as it was yesterday. Overall, it still is a positive score. The course is proving itself to be quite tough; the scores are much higher than what I expected at the beginning of the week. It’s a course which is very difficult to put a very low under-par round together, maybe because the greens aren’t extremely fast or because the back nine are quite hard.” When asked about being in the lead after the morning wave, he added: “I didn’t expect to be in the lead for the moment, most likely this afternoon, someone will pass me, but this morning with no wind and relatively easy pins I thought the scores were going to be lower than what they ended up being.” Looking ahead into tomorrow’s final round where he will have a chance to earn his 2nd Alps Tour title, Comotti plans to “take time to rest and recharge the batteries this afternoon as it will be a long day tomorrow where a lot of wind is expected so I want to be rested and ready for the new day.”

Maxime Legros, 22, from France, concludes his round 2 of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar with a total score of 6 under-par and finds himself in a 4-way tie for 2ndplace alongside Mattia ComottiMario Galiano Aguilar and Marcos Pastor. He shot a 4 under-par, 66 in today’s round with 5 birdies and 1 bogey. After his round he commented: “Today went very well, I have been playing better for a couple a weeks now and today I finally felt confident over the ball. I really enjoyed the course this week! It’s fair and rewards you when you are able to hit good shots. We must take advantage of the front 9 because on the back 9, there are no par 5s, and birdies are much tougher to get.” Legros tomorrow plans on:“Just keep doing what I have been doing the past couple of days. I’ll have to start off strong and make a few birdies on the front 9 to set me up well for the rest of the tournament. This afternoon, I’ll make a good recovery, and tomorrow, I’ll just try to stick to my strategy and hope it goes as planned!”

Spain’s Mario Galiano Aguilar, 28, moves into a 4-way tie for 2nd place after two rounds of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar. He was tied for 18th place at 1 under-par after the 1st round and shot a 5 under-par, 65 in today’s round 2 to conclude with a two-day total of 6 under-par. Galiano Aguilar has earned several Top 10 finishes on the Alps Tour throughout his playing career but is looking to break through and earn his 1st win on the tour. After his 5-under-par round, Galiano Aguilar commented: “I’m very happy, it’s been an important change from yesterday to today. Yesterday I didn’t hit it well from the tee, but I was able to get 1 under-par round.  When I finished, I changed the set-up of the Driver. I gave it one more degree, and today it went much better. From the tee, I played phenomenal today, and I have also putted better, and it was visible in my results.” He also added that he’s: “hitting the ball much more comfortably but especially with myself. At the beginning of the year, I decided not to listen to anyone, and work on my own and that has been the key for me, I am much more comfortable in all aspects. I started the season playing well in Egypt, and that has helped to give me confidence and keep going so far this season.”

In the 4-way tie for 2nd place alongside ComottiLegros, and Galiano Aguilar with a two-day total of 6 under-par there is Spain’s Marcos Pastor. He currently holds the course record at Club de Golf Playa Serena with a 64 back in 2013 when his fellow countryman Pol Bech won the Alps Tour event. He was tied for 3rd place after yesterday’s round 1 with a 4 under-par, 66 and during today’s round 2 he made 4 birdies and 2 bogeys for a 2 under-par, 68.

Final Round

A total of 43 players made the cut which was set at 140 (Par).

The Final Round of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar will begin at 8:15 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole. The final pairing will tee off at 9:32 a.m. local time from the 1st hole.

In case of a tie after 54 holes, a sudden-death play-off will determine the Winner of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar. The Winner of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar will earn €5,800.00 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.

9th May 2024 | Alps Tour Golf

Mattia Comotti moves into the lead after day 2 of the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON.

Appiano Gentile, May 9th, 2024 – After two rounds of the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON, we have a very close leaderboard. Italy’s Mattia Comotti moves into the lead with a two-day total of 12 under-par. France’s Benjamin Kedochim is in solo 2nd place at 11 under-par. Enrico Di Nitto is only 1 back at 10 under-par. There is a 2-way tie for 4th place with a French duo: Xavier Poncelet and Alexandre Daydou at 9 under-par.

It was another day with mostly sunny skies and a temperature around 23° Celsius that welcomed the players at Golf Club La Pinetina in Como, Italy, for the second round of the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON. Play began at 7:30 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole.

The tournament is named after and dedicated to highly acclaimed golf instructor, Giorgio Bordoni who unexpectedly passed away in 2013 at the age of 48. This year is the 10th edition of the event which has been a consistent stop on the Alps Tour schedule since 2014. In 2020, it was the only year the event wasn’t played due to Covid-19.

Round 2 Player Quotes

Mattia Comotti, 24, from Italy, leads after two rounds of the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON. He shot a bogey-free second round of 8 under-par, 62 with 4 birdies on the front nine holes and 4 birdies on the back nine holes for a two-day total of 12 under-par. Comotti turned professional at the end of July 2023 so this is his 1st full playing season as a professional. He also has played in the past on the Alps Tour while he was still an amateur earning various top 10 finishes. At this event last year, he began the tournament with a 4 under-par, 66 round but unfortunately struggled during round 2. The same occurred during yesterday’s round 1 as he shot a 4 under-par, 66 round and today put together a fabulous bogey-free round to move into the lead. After his 8 under-par, 62 Comotti was very satisfied and happily commented: “Today was a spectacular day. I had the chance to hole out two chip shots, and for the rest, I played well. The few mistakes I made I was able to recover nicely so it was really a super day. This morning, I was more worried about making the cut, but as the day went on, I made a few putts and some birdies and gained some confidence from there to put together a good round.” Looking forward to playing in the final pairing tomorrow as the tournament leader, Comotti added: “It’s the first time I’ll be playing in the final pairing tomorrow, so I’m not sure what to expect. Hopefully, I’ll get a good night’s rest and be prepared for a good day.”

France’s Benjamin Kedochim, 29, moves into 2nd place after two rounds at the 10th edition of the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON. He was tied for 4th place at 4 under-par after the 1st round of the tournament but shot a bogey-free round today of 7 under-par, 63 with 7 birdies to move into 2nd place with a two-day total of 11 under-par. Kedochim has earned numerous top 5 finishes in his career but is still looking to earn his 1st title as he has never won an Alps Tour tournament. After his round, he commented: “I’m trying to stay focused on what I’m doing, on hitting shot by shot, and for now, I must say it’s working well. I’m playing a lot of tournament golf recently, I’m playing 14 tournaments in 15 weeks so it’s a long stretch of golf.” After his round, Kedochim also talked about how: “the course is in amazing conditions I must say. Today in the morning the greens were even better than yesterday, so I took advantage. You know, when you put together a bogey-free round, it’s always good. I tried to play safe, avoiding bad positions but giving myself the chance to make as many birdies as possible. I missed a few putts today; I could have easily been 9 or 10 under-par but I can’t complain with the day.” Kedochim has been playing well since the beginning of the 2024 season and he explained that: “I’ve been working a lot on my attitude and my behavior and concentrating on hitting one shot at a time and not getting too far ahead of myself. I can say it’s been working in my favor so far. Tomorrow, I plan on hitting every fairway, every green and do my best like always and see what will happen.”

Enrico Di Nitto, 31, from Italy, is 2 strokes off the lead after the 2nd round of the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON. He was tied for 4th place at 4 under-par after the 1st round of the tournament and now is in a solo 3rd place with a two-day total of 10 under-par. He shot a bogey-free round during today’s round 2, for a 6 under-par, 64. Di Nitto is a past winner on the Alps Tour and has achieved various good finishes over the years. At last year’s edition, he concluded the tournament tied for 4th place, and he explained how he thoroughly likes this golf course. After his bogey-free round, he commented on how: “I played very solid today, I must say it was very similar to yesterday’s round. My tee-to-green game was very sharp. Today I was able to make a few more putts compared to yesterday I must say.” Di Nitto went on to add that he found GC La Pinetina“handled the rain very well, I feel like it’s not necessarily playing any longer than usual, but the ball is flying a bit more compared to the past few years. The greens were amazing this morning, the ball rolled very true, and I found them slightly faster than yesterday.”  For tomorrow’s final round, he plans on, “playing my game, shot by shot and hole by hole. I will see after the 18th hole where that will have taken me.”

The highlights of the day belong to Italy’s Marco Florioli (am), who made a Hole-In-One on the 162 meters, par 3, 17th hole with a 7 iron, and France’s Baptiste Achard, who made a Hole-In-One on the 142 meters, par 3, 5th hole with a 9 iron.
