Ronan Mullarney moves into the lead after Day 2 at the 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners
Biarritz, July 26th, 2025- After two rounds of the 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners, the competition remains fierce with a tightly packed leaderboard setting the stage for an exciting final day. Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney leads at 15 under-par. Just one stroke behind is French amateur Rudy Sautron at 14 under-par, while Italy’s Matteo Cristoni holds solo third place at 12 under-par. Tied for 4th place at 11 under-par are France’s Victor Dubuisson, Augustin Holé, and Quentin Debove, all well within reach as the tournament heads into its decisive final round.
The 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners marks a historic first as it joins forces with the Alps Tour, elevating the prestige of Continental Europe’s oldest amateur event. Held at the renowned Golf de Biarritz Le Phare, the tournament now features top amateurs and professionals from across Europe. Past champions include José María Olazábal and Jorge Campillo.
This week’s event is crucial in the Alps Tour season, offering valuable Order of Merit points with only a handful of events left. The top five by season’s end will earn 2026 HotelPlanner Tour cards, while the top six players here (including amateurs), up to ten not otherwise exempt, will gain entry to Stage 1 of the 2025 DP World Tour Qualifying School. With the Grand Final approaching, the stakes are higher than ever.

Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney, 29, who was tied for third place after the opening round with a 6-under-par 63, continued his strong form with a bogey-free 9-under-par 60 in today’s second round to move into the lead at the 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners, with a two-day total of 15-under-par. Mullarney, earned two victories during the 2023 season, which secured him the Order of Merit title and earned the promotion to the 2024 HotelPlanner Tour. In his impressive 9-under round, he recorded seven birdies on holes 3, 4, 8, 9, 11, 13, and 16, along with an eagle on the par-5 15th hole. “I’m delighted with how I played today,” Mullarney said. “I shot a decent score yesterday, but it wasn’t as clean as it was today. It was a little bit less of a struggle, and a few more putts dropped, so I was happy.” He credited his preparation for the performance, adding, “I studied the course a bit before I came here, and I truly believe this is a strategy golf course—it’s not very long. I was able to set my strategy ahead of time, and now I’m putting it into play as much as possible, relying on my wedges and putting.” Despite the strong finish, there was a hint of unfinished business. “It would have been nice to drop the last putt on 18, but I guess it sums up golf pretty well when you shoot 60 and still feel a bit disappointed,” Mullarney reflected. “Hopefully tomorrow I can put together something similar.”
French amateur Rudy Sautron, 19, continued his impressive form at the 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners, following up his opening 7-under-par 62 with another 62 in today’s second round to sit just one stroke off the lead at 14-under-par. After opening with back-to-back birdies on holes 1 and 2, Sautron made his only bogey of the day at the 4th hole before going on a strong run, carding birdies at holes 6, 11, 12, and 14, and holing a remarkable 50-foot eagle putt on the par-5 15th hole to cap off his round. A standout collegiate golfer at the University of Nebraska, Sautron has earned multiple accolades, including Big Ten Men’s Golfer of the Week, and recently claimed victory at the Indian Creek Invitational, which secures him a start on the Korn Ferry Tour’s upcoming Pinnacle Bank Championship. “It went pretty well, you know. Putting was on point along with the long game,” Sautron said. “I got a good eagle on 15 today, which allowed me to be more in contention, it’s a great feeling!” Looking ahead, he added, “I’ll try to stay present and not focus on the leaderboard. Just play my game and let the birdies come.” As for his professional ambitions, Sautron shared, “I plan to turn professional in two years after I finish my degree in Nebraska. Ideally, I’d like to pursue the Korn Ferry Tour in the U.S. But no, even if I win tomorrow, I promised myself I’d complete my college degree first.” Reflecting on the round, he noted, “The eagle on 15 was definitely the highlight. But I’d say my iron game toward the end of the round was a weakness. I’ll work on being more consistent to give myself a real chance to win this tournament tomorrow.”
In solo third place with a two-day total of 12-under-par is Italy’s Matteo Cristoni,23, who fired a 6-under-par 63 in today’s second round. His scorecard included six birdies, two bogeys, and an eagle.
In a three-way tie for fourth place at 11 under-par after two rounds are former Ryder Cup player and two-time DP World Tour winner Victor Dubuisson, Alps Tour winner Augustin Holé, and fellow Frenchman Quentin Debove.
Debove delivered a remarkable bogey-free 10-under-par in today’s second round, tying the course record at Golf de Biarritz Le Phare. He carded birdies on holes 1, 3, 4, and 8, then continued his momentum on the back nine with three consecutive birdies from holes 10 to 12, followed by another three in a row from hole 14 to hole 16. “It was my first round ever that I was able to go below 60,” said Debove. “I made 10 birdies and no bogey—it’s the unofficial course record here. I’m very excited and looking forward to competing tomorrow to hopefully try and get the title.”
A total of 43 players including 12 amateurs made the cut which was set at 133 (-5).
The Final Round will begin at 7:30 a.m. local time from the 1st hole. The Final Pairing will tee off at 10:00 a.m. local time from the 1st hole.
Prize Fund
The prize fund will distribute € 47.500 (to professionals only) and 45,000 Order of Merit points for Alps Tour members. The winner will earn €7,600 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.

Matteo Cristoni Moves into the Lead Following Round 2 at the Alps de Las Castillas.
Albacete, July 10th 2025- Italy’s Matteo Cristoni leads the field with a two-day total of 12 under-par after Round 2 of the 2025 Alps de Las Castillas. Just one stroke behind, in solo second place, Antonio Hortal from Spain with a score of 11 under-par. Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney is in solo third place at 10 under-par and will keep the pressure on the leaders heading into the final round.
Round 2 of the 2025 Alps de Las Castillas continued today at Club de Golf Las Pinaillas, with warm temperatures and sunny skies providing a picturesque backdrop as players competed to secure a strong position heading into the final round.
Players at this week’s event are competing not only for the tournament title, but also for crucial Order of Merit points, with the top five at the end of the 2025 Alps Tour season earning coveted 2026 HotelPlanner Tour cards, and the top six players, including amateurs, not otherwise exempt after the 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners securing a Stage 1 exemption for the 2025 DP World Tour Qualifying School, up to a maximum of 10.
Round 2 Player Quotes
Italy’s Matteo Cristoni, 23, who was tied for 15th place after yesterday’s opening round, surged into the lead on day two with a stunning 9-under-par 63, bringing his two-day total to 12-under. Cristoni got off to a blistering start, recording seven birdies on the front nine (holes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9) to go out in 29. On the back nine, he dropped a shot on the 10th hole but quickly bounced back with a birdie on 11. A bogey followed on hole 12, but he ended his round strongly with birdies on 13, 14, and 16. Reflecting on his round, Cristoni said, “It went well, I played really solid from tee to green, leaving myself with a lot of opportunities to make birdies.” He credited his driving accuracy as a key factor on this course, adding, “I think you need to hit the driver well to be able to score here. The strategy is essential to avoid easy mistakes.” Looking ahead to the final round, he shared his approach: “I’m going to stick to my strategy and try to enjoy the round as much as possible.” Cristoni also noted a difference in playing conditions: “I feel like in the morning the ball rolls really well on the greens compared to the afternoon, so I would say that playing in the morning definitely helps.” He concluded by praising the course setup: “It’s a good layout where you can have fun playing it.”
Spain’s Antonio Hortal, 36, who led after the opening round, carded a 4-under-par 68 in today’s second round to move into 2nd place with a two-day total of 11-under-par. He made three birdies on the front nine and added an eagle on the par-5 14th hole, before closing with a bogey on the 18th hole. Reflecting on the day, Hortal said,“It was the same game tee to green, but today the putter didn’t work. I was pretty solid with the driver and the irons.” Despite the late bogey, he remained positive: “It was pretty nice overall, only one bogey on 18, and that came after a flyer from the rough and a bad chip. Someone sent me that bogey to remain focused for tomorrow.” Hortal emphasized the role of course strategy and physical condition in the heat: “I’ve been hitting almost every hole with the driver, which gives me an advantage from the tee. The strategy is working, now I just need to repeat the same and make sure I keep my body temperature under control to perform well.”
Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney, 29, a two-time winner during the 2023 season, which propelled him to win the Order of Merit and secure his promotion to the HotelPlanner Tour (formerly known as the Challenge Tour) for the 2024 season, currently sits in third place after the second round of the tournament. After opening with a 2-under-par 70, Mullarney surged up the leaderboard with a bogey-free 8-under-par 64 in the second round, bringing his two-day total to 10-under. His round included birdies on holes 5, 6, 8, and 9 on the front nine, followed by four more on the back nine on holes 11, 13, 14, and 16. Reflecting on his performance, Mullarney admitted, “Up until today, I didn’t think the course really suited me. I played Q-School here last year, and it didn’t go great, but I played nicely today. The same again tomorrow would be nice.” He was particularly pleased with the clean scorecard, adding, “Overall, a good day of golf today, but what stands out the most to me is the bogey-free bit, which I like.” Known for his calm demeanor, Mullarney said, “There weren’t many highs and lows today, really, which is how I like it, to be honest.” Looking ahead to the final round, he emphasized the importance of recovery: “The main thing I’ll be focusing on is resting up for tomorrow. It’s really hot, so I’m going to get myself ready.” He also credited his early tee time as an advantage, saying, “Playing in the morning definitely helped. The front nine was really nice, and then it got really hot after that, but everyone has to deal with it.” On the course itself, Mullarney added, “It’s in excellent condition. All the courses we’ve played this year have been in great shape, which is always a bonus.”
The highlights of the day came from France’s Robin Roussel and Jersey’s Josef Hacker, who both recorded remarkable Holes-In-One during today’s second round of competition. Roussel aced the 118-meter 3rd hole using a 48° wedge, while Hacker achieved his ace on the 152-meter 7th hole using a 9-iron.
Final Round
A total of 44 players (40 professionals and 4 amateurs) made the cut, which was set at 140 (-4).
The Final Round will begin at 8:00 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole. The Final Pairing will tee off at 9:17 a.m. local time from the 1st hole.
The 2025 Alps de las Castillas winner will walk away with €6,200.00 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.

Veyret and Tyminski (am) tied at the top after Round 1 at the 2024 Alps Tour Qualifying School Final Stage.
A beautiful sunny morning in Northern Rome, welcomed the 156 players who began their quest to earn one of the 2025 Alps Tour Playing Cards that is up for grabs at this week’s event. For the first two rounds, the players are split between Golf Nazionale (Par 72) and Terre dei Consoli Golf Club (Par 72) and will play one round on each course. After Round 2, a cut will be made, and the players who qualify for the final round will compete in the last 18 holes at Golf Nazionale.
Victor Veyret, 27, from France, co-leads after Round 1 at the 2024 Alps Tour Qualifying School Final Stage, which began today in Rome. He shot an opening round at Terre dei Consoli Golf Club of 6 under-par, 66 with 7 birdies and 1 bogey. Once Veyret concluded his round, he said, “Overall, pretty happy with today on the course. We did a good job with my caddie, mainly thanks to a good round with my wedges and putter. I like both courses we are playing this week, to be honest. They are quite different from what we are used to playing during the season, but it’s a good test of golf.” Veyret plans on “staying in my own bubble and enjoy the tournament” over the next two rounds.
Polish amateur Nikolas Tyminski, 18, co-leads alongside Veyret after the 2024 Alps Tour Qualifying School Final Stage opening round. He began his tournament with a fabulous bogey-free round of 6 under-par,66 at Terre dei Consoli Golf Club, making 3 birdies and 3 bogeys on each 9 holes. After he signed for his 6 under-par round, he commented, “It’s a very solid start to the 3-day golf marathon this week. I played solid tee to green and, fortunately, made a few putts around the turn to rack up some birdies. I’m most satisfied today with how I was committed to my shots the entire day. Pretty much all the shots I hit today were under full commitment, which is very important for me.” Tyminski is competing as an amateur, and “as of right now, I don’t have any plans to turn professional, but who knows what the future holds! My main focus is to get some status for next year’s Alps Tour season and enjoy this week in Italy eating my favorite food.”

France’s Adrien Bonnet, 25, finds himself in a 3-way tie for 3rd place after the 1st round of the 2024 Alps Tour Qualifying School Final Stage. He shot an opening round of 5 under-par, 67, making 6 birdies and 1 bogey at Terre dei Consoli Golf Club. After his round, Bonnet explained, “The greens are quite different between the two courses this week, but I like the firmness of the greens at Golf Nazionale and the quickness of the greens here in Terre de Consoli Golf Club. Overall, today was good. I got a good start to the tournament and am pleased with how it went.” Now, “I will take my mind away from golf because I stayed calm during the round, and now, I want to think about other things.” Obviously, Bonnet added, like the rest of the players in the field this week, the goal is to “finish as high as possible in the leaderboard to try and earn the best playing category I can for next season.”
Lucas Fallotico (am), 22, from Italy, is also in the 3-way tie for 3rd place after his opening round at Golf Nazionale. He made 7 birdies and 2 bogeys throughout his day. When he finished his round, he commented: “Today was good. I didn’t play great when I began my round, but I recovered after the bogeys I made. Mainly, I was able to recover due to the good tee shots I was able to hit and some clutch putts I holed, which allowed me to get to -5.” Fallotico is still an amateur, and he’s a member of the Italian National Team, he “knows Golf Nazionale well. However, it’s a course I always struggled over the years to put a good score together, so with today’s round, putting a good round under par is gratifying and puts me in a good position for the rest of the week.” He added, “I know Golf Nazionale well, but there are quite some differences between the two golf courses. Terre dei Consoli Golf Course is more open, and the wind is more of a factor. They are two good tests of golf, but for the moment, I’ll say I enjoyed this one more as I played better, but we will see tomorrow.” Fallotico is competing as an amateur but “is planning on turning professional soon. I’m training well, and I’m reaching my goals. This tournament is also a test for me to see if I can turn pro, so if this tournament goes well, there is a good chance I’ll turn pro.”
Alongside Bonnet and Fallotico in the three-way tie for 3rd place at 5 under-par, there is Italian amateur Matteo Cristoni, who competed at Terre dei Consoli Golf Club today.
After the 54 holes, the top 35 players and ties ranked according to score will be eligible to receive Category 6 membership for the 2025 Alps Tour Season.
The remainder of the players who made the cut, and finished between the 36th and 65th positions will be eligible to receive Category 8 membership for next year’s season. The remaining players who conclude the tournament between the 66th and 156th positions will be eligible for membership in Category 9 for the 2025 Alps Tour Season
Round 2
For tomorrow’s Round 2, players will alternate golf courses between Golf Nazionale and Terre dei Consoli Golf Club. Play will begin again at 8:00 a.m. from each golf course’s 1st and 10th hole.
After tomorrow’s round, a cut will be made to the top 65 players and ties who will compete in the tournament’s final round, which will be played at Golf Nazionale.
