Spain’s Javier Calles Roman Claims the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open
Lacanau-Océan, May 24th, 2025– Another win for Spain on the Alps Tour this week as Javier Calles Roman claims the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open with a total score of 11-under-par. Finishing just one stroke behind in second place, Italy’s Flavio Michetti, while Jerry Ji from the Netherlands and Italy’s Lucas Fallotico shared third place at 9-under-par. France’s Andoni Etchenique and Xavier Poncelet, along with Spain’s Jorge Maicas, completed the top five with matching totals of 8-under-par.
The 2025 Lacanau Alps Open’s final round, played at UGolf Lacanau in Lacanau-Océan, France, began at 9:28 a.m. local time from both the 1st and 10th tees. The final pairing teed off at 10:45 a.m. from the 1st tee. Players disputed the final round under mostly sunny skies with light winds.

Having turned professional just last May 2024, Calles Roman surged into a share of the lead after the second round and closed out the tournament with a solid 3-under-par 69 in the final round, finishing with a three-day total of 11-under-par. His final round featured a rocky start with a bogey on the 7th hole, but he quickly bounced back with birdies on the 9th and 10th holes. Further birdies on the 16th and 18th holes sealed his victory in a tightly contested field. Reflecting on the win, Calles Roman said, “I’m very emotional, I still need to process what happened. This is a dream come true. I turned professional exactly one year ago, and to win my first title within that year is truly special. This win is for my parents; I wouldn’t be here without their unwavering support through the good and bad times.” He continued, “The nerves definitely kicked in today. I knew where I stood on the leaderboard and kept being aggressive. I lipped out for birdie on 17, and when I reached the 18th tee, I kept telling myself to stay aggressive but calm simultaneously.” Calles Roman credited his mindset for the victory, “I believe my strategy made the difference this week. From day one, I played smart golf, which helped me stay composed. Going into today’s round, I had a target score in mind, which kept me focused and aggressive all day. I aimed for 6 or 7 under-par, but ultimately, 3 under was enough. That mindset helped me stay calm and in control.” Looking ahead, he said, “Now I look forward to celebrating this milestone, enjoying a week off, and spending time with my coaches to prepare for the Alps de Andalucía.”
Italy’s Flavio Michetti, 21, delivered an impressive final-round performance, carding a 5-under-par 67 to finish in second place with a three-day total of 10-under-par. His round was anything but ordinary, featuring a rollercoaster of highs and lows. Michetti opened with a birdie on the 5th hole, dropped a shot with a bogey at the 11th, then caught fire with three consecutive birdies on holes 12, 13, and 14. A double bogey on the 15th hole briefly stalled his momentum, but he bounced back spectacularly with an eagle on the par-4 16th hole, followed by back-to-back birdies on 17 and 18 to close out his round.
Following the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open, the eighth event of the season, Spain’s Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela continues to lead the Alps Tour Order of Merit with 15,855.45 points. Spain’s Rocco Repetto holds firm in second place with 14,259.63 points, followed by fellow Spaniard Javier Barcos in third with 12,812.65 points. France’s Quentin Debove climbs to fourth with 12,688.65 points, while Spain’s Asier Aguirre Izcue rounds out the top five with 12,227.40 points. Round 2 of the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open ends with a three-way tie for the lead.
Lacanau-Océan, May 23rd, 2025– After two rounds of the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open, the competition remains fierce, with the leaderboard tightly packed heading into the final day. France’s Quentin Debove, Spain’s Javier Calles Roman, and Spain’s Jorge Maicas share the lead at 8-under-par. Close behind, a three-way tie for fourth place at 7-under-par featuring England’s Luca Houlgate, France’s Augustin Holé, and Italy’s Luca Cavalli, all well within striking distance as the tournament moves into its decisive final round.
Round 2 of the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open continued today at its traditional host venue, UGolf Lacanau in Lacanau-Océan, France. Players competed under mostly sunny skies with light to moderate winds.

France’s Quentin Debove, 23, who was tied for the lead after the opening round, continued his strong form with a 3 under-par, 69 in today’s second round to remain in a share of the lead at the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open with a two-day total of 8-under-par. Currently ranked fifth in the Order of Merit, Debove has already recorded two runner-up finishes in Egypt earlier this season and is still searching for his first win on the Alps Tour. He got off to a challenging start in his second round, making two bogeys in the first three holes, but quickly rebounded with five birdies over the remaining holes to close out his round. “Today was another solid day,” Debove said. “I was 2-over through three, which isn’t ideal, but I’m very proud of how I fought back and managed to shoot 1-under on my front nine. Then I played very solid on the back nine. I hit a lot of greens, gave myself chances, and made no mistakes. I believe the key today was missing in the right spots, which allowed me to make a bunch of easy pars. For tomorrow, I’m not going to change anything. I want to be smart and stay in my own game. I’ll try to take advantage of the easier holes again, and on the tougher ones, stick to my game plan and miss in the correct spots.”
Spain’s Javier Calles Roman, 23, who turned professional in May 2024, moved into a share of the lead with a two-day total of 8-under-par after round 2 of the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open. He followed his opening round of 4-under-par, 68 with another 4-under, 68 in round two, which featured five birdies and a single bogey on the 9th hole, his final hole of the day. “Today I stuck with my strategy, which I adjusted slightly from yesterday, especially off the tee, and it paid off,” said Calles Roman. “I’m very happy with the changes. I managed to miss in the right spots, which allowed me to recover well. Overall, it was a very positive round with some strong putting. I’m looking forward to tomorrow, it’s a new day and a new opportunity.”

Jorge Maicas, 27, from Spain, co-leads alongside Debove and Calles Roman. Maicas, the most recent winner on the Alps Tour after capturing last week’s 2025 Gösser Open, carded a 4-under-par 68 in today’s round, making five birdies and one bogey for a two-day total of 8-under-par. “Today, I played a bit better than yesterday, especially on the greens, but it was a good battle with the wind,” said Maicas. “It was stronger and definitely more in play, but overall, a fun day. I’ve felt very comfortable with my tee shots this week and have adapted well to the greens. I have good sensations and I’m making a solid number of putts. Of course, this is a new week, and I’m fully focused on this tournament and where I stand, but last week’s win gave me a nice confidence boost. That said, the past is the past, and I’m ready for a new day and hopefully a new opportunity to perform at my best.”

England’s Luca Houlgate, 22, made a significant move up the leaderboard in round two. After starting the day tied for 23rd place following his opening round, Houlgate carded a 5 under-par, 67 to climb into a share of fourth place at 7-under-par overall. His round included six birdies and just one bogey, showcasing a well-rounded and composed performance. “I’m really happy with today’s round and how I hit the ball,” said Houlgate. “I holed some really nice putts and made some great par saves that kept the momentum going. I’m looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow, playing the course again, and hopefully continuing what I’ve been doing the last couple of days. We’ll see where that puts me come tomorrow afternoon.”
Augustin Holé, 27, from France, winner of the 2023 Alps Tour Grand Final, surged into a tie for fourth place alongside Luca Houlgate with a two-day total of 7-under-par. Holé followed his opening round of even-par 72 with an impressive 7 under-par, 65 in round two, which included birdies on holes 2, 5, 6, 8, 10, 13, 16, 17, and 18, offset by bogeys on holes 1 and 12. “My mindset has been the same all week long so far, being patient and playing the game of golf,” Holé said. “I saw three of my coaches earlier this week, Benoit Teilleria, David Ames, and Franck Rigole, and each of them gave me some work to do, so I’m just trying to put it all together. I was happy to shoot even par yesterday after being 2-over with two holes to play. I’ve felt close to a low score for a while but kept making too many mistakes, and today finally felt like the day I’ve been waiting for.” While Holé credited solid ball-striking, he highlighted another key to his low round. “What helped me a lot today was my short game. This course is a lot about shaping the ball and seeing curves, and I enjoy these golf courses. Tomorrow, I want to keep working. I know there might be some nerves, but I’ll focus on controlling what I can. The rest, we’ll see. Today, a good friend, Nathan Cardet, came to caddy for me, and it was nice to share such an enjoyable round with him.”
Joining Houlgate and Holé in a three-way tie for fourth place at 7-under-par is Italy’s Luca Cavalli, who backed up his opening round of 4-under-par 68 with a 3-under-par 69 in today’s second round.
Spain’s Rocco Repetto, winner of the 2025 La Cigale Golf Open by Alps Tour, delivered a fabulous performance in round two, firing a 10 under-par, 62 to set the unofficial course record at UGolf Lacanau. His bogey-free round included eight birdies and one eagle, surpassing the previous mark of 9-under-par. It is an unofficial course record as players are competing with preferred lies.
A total of 45 players made the cut, set at 142 (-2). The Final Round will begin at 9:28 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole. The Final Pairing will tee off at 10:45 a.m. local time from the 1st hole.

Round 1 of the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open: Livio, Aparicio, and Debove are in the Lead
Lacanau-Océan, May 22nd, 2025– After Round 1 of the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open, the leaderboard is tightly packed. Italy’s Federico Livio, alongside France’s Nicolas Aparicio and Quentin Debove, lead the field with an impressive 5-under-par, 67. In a closely contested race, there is a 9-way tie for 4th place at 4-under-par, featuring Spain’s Javier Calles Roman and Jorge Maicas, Italy’s Luca Cavalli, Mattia Comotti, and Elia Dallanegra, Kiet Van der Weele and Jerry Ji from Netherland, as well as Estonia’s Sander Aadusaar and France’s Xavier Poncelet.
Players faced mostly sunny skies with some wind conditions as they battled through the first round of the tournament.This is the second edition of the Lacanau Alps Open and the second time UGolf Lacanau hosts a professional golf tournament.

Federico Livio, 26, from Italy, co-leads after the opening round of the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open with a 5-under-par, 67. He recorded one birdie and one bogey on the front nine, then dropped a shot on the 10th hole before bouncing back with birdies on the 12th, 13th, 16th, and 17th hole. He ended his round in style with an eagle on the par-5 18th. Still in search of his first professional victory, Livio has consistently performed well, collecting multiple top-20 finishes in his career so far. “Today went really well,” said Livio. “I didn’t get off to the best start, but I stayed calm because I knew the round could turn around at any moment. This morning, it was a bit easier to play as there was no wind at all. Toward the end, conditions got tougher, but despite that, I still managed to make a lot of birdies. The course this week is beautiful, it’s in fantastic shape, and the greens are perfect for making putts.” Reflecting on his mistakes, he added: “As always, bogeys can be avoided, but in my case, they came from two bad shots, so they were a bit unavoidable. Overall, I’m happy with how I managed the round.” Looking ahead to the rest of the tournament, Livio remains focused on his own game. “My goal this week is to keep building on my game—and who knows? We’ll see what happens in the next two rounds. I’ll just stick to what I’m doing without worrying about what anyone else is doing. Finishing with an eagle today always gives you a great boost, especially heading into the next two rounds. I was expecting a birdie, and instead, I got something more.”
France’s Nicolas Aparicio, 32, finds himself alongside Livio in the 3-way tie for the lead with an opening round of 5-under-par, 67. He teed off on hole 1 and carded three birdies on the front nine on holes 5, 6, and 9, offset by a bogey on the 8th. On the back nine, he added two more bogeys at holes 12 and 16 but bounced back with birdies on 14, 15, and 17, before ending his round with an eagle on the par-5 18th. Aparicio is playing what he considers, for now, his final competitive tournament. “I’m really happy with this first day, I’m close to home this week and it’s a special event for me,”he said. “Especially since it’s my last tournament, I must say, I’ve been feeling really good and relaxed on the course ever since I made the decision to stop competitive golf and go back to teaching. Seven months ago, I became a father, and that played a big part in my decision to step back from competition and focus on coaching. I think I’ll still play a few tournaments each year because I want to keep the competitive edge alive so I can continue to teach young players at a high level.” Adding to the positive start, Aparicio is enjoying the support of a close friend throughout the event. “This week, playing very close to home, I have a friend with me for the whole tournament who’s caddying. It’s pretty cool to be able to share the week with him. For the next few days, I plan to keep the same mindset and to enjoy myself and have fun.”

Joining Livio and Aparicio in a three-way tie for the lead at 5-under-par, 67 is Quentin Debove, a 23-year-old from France. Currently ranked fifth in the Order of Merit standings, he has recorded two runner-up finishes in Egypt earlier this season. Today, he began his opening round on Hole 1, carding two birdies on the front nine. “I played well especially on the front nine as I didn’t make any mistakes,” he said. “Then I took advantage of the easier holes on the back nine. Overall, I must say it was a good day.” After the turn, Debove dropped a shot with a bogey on the 10th but quickly recovered with an eagle on the par-5 13th, hitting a 6-iron into the green, followed by consecutive birdies on the 16th and 17th to close out a strong first round. “Today, I hit a lot of fairways and a lot of greens, which made it a stress-free round,”he added. “My course management was definitely key, I played really well in the wind and the plan is to do the exact same thing tomorrow!”

The players are competing for an overall prize fund of €47,500 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The winner of the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open will take home €6,900 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.
Round 2
The second round of the 2025 Lacanau Alps Open will begin again at 7:45 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole.
Once Round 2 is completed, a cut will be made to the top 40 professional players and ties, plus any amateurs who fall within the cut line. In case of a tie after 54 holes, a sudden-death play-off will determine the winner.

Round 1 of the 2025 Gösser Open Ends with a Five-Way Tie for the Lead.
Maria Lankowitz, May 15th 2025- After the first round of the 2025 Gösser Open, we have a very tight leaderboard. Spain’s Javier Calles Roman and Asier Aguirre Izcue, Italy’s Gianmaria Rean Trinchero, France’s Theo Brizard and Maxime Legros are in a 5-way tie for the lead at 7 under-par, 65. There is a 9-way tie for 6th place at 6 under-par.
The first round of the 33rd edition of the Gösser Open teed off this morning at its traditional venue, Golf Club Erzherzog Johann in Maria Lankowitz, Austria. Players encountered a variety of weather conditions throughout the day. The morning featured overcast skies, light to no winds, and mild temperatures, while the afternoon brought stronger, swirling gusts and a noticeable drop in temperature.
The Gösser Open is one of the most important tournaments of the Alps Tour season and holds the distinction of being the oldest tournament on the Alps Tour schedule. This year, we are celebrating the 33rd edition of the tournament.
The event first began in 1993 at Steiermärkischer Golf Club Murhof, before moving to Golf Club Erzherzog Johann in 2000, where it has remained as the permanent host venue. Following the founding of the Alps Tour in 2001, the Gösser Open became part of the Tour schedule and has been a key event ever since. It is also widely regarded as the most traditional professional golf tournament in Austria.

Javier Calles Roman, 23, from Spain, who turned professional in May 2024, co-leads after the 1st round of the 2025 Gösser Open with a bogey-free round of 7 under-par, 65. He opened his round with a birdie on Hole 10 and continued his strong play with additional birdies on Holes 13, 14, and 15, before adding three more on Holes 1, 4, and 9 to close out the day. He said: “Today, went really well. I strongly believe that my course management was the key for my first-round score. I played really smart throughout the entire day and holed some important putts. The course conditions were perfect for scoring throughout this morning; we had little wind but with some difficulty pin positions. Obviously, conditions could change in the afternoon we this morning we could take advantage.” He strongly believes that he had a huge improvement in his putting from last week to this week and he was very thankful to see the work he put in pay off.
Italy’s Gianmaria Rean Trinchero, 29, finds himself alongside Calles Roman in the 5-way tie for lead with an opening round of 7 under-par, 65. In today’s opening round, he started on Hole 10 and quickly found his rhythm, carding four birdies on Holes 10,12,13 and 16. After making the turn, he added four more birdies on Holes 1, 2, 3, and 7. His only mistake of the day came on his final hole, the par-5 9th hole, where he made a bogey. Rean Trinchero is a two-time winner on the Alps Tour, with victories in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons. “My game was solid all around today. The only mistake came on my final hole, the 9th, where I hit a ball out of bounds and ended up with a bogey. It didn’t really bother me because I was committed to the shot—I just hit an errant one that cost me a stroke. I found a good sensation during my warm-up, which carried through the entire round. Every part of my game felt strong, from my driver to my sand wedge,” said Rean Trinchero after his opening round at the Gösser Open. “The course is much drier this week, than we’re used to, so I think we’ll see some lower scores. You can hit more irons off the tee, and at GC Erzherzog Johann, it’s really important to have your wedges dialed in and that’s something I’ll be focusing on over the next two rounds.”

Joining Calles Roman and Rean Trinchero in the five-way tie for the lead at 7-under-par, 65 is France’s Theo Brizard, 24. A regular on the Alps Tour over various seasons, Brizard is seeking his first title. He began his opening round on Hole 10, where he made four birdies on the back nine. After making the turn, he added four more birdies on the front nine, with his only bogey on the par 4, 6th hole. Brizard said: “it was a solid first round. I made sure to position myself well on the tougher holes and take advantage of the easier ones. Most importantly though, I was able to maintain a good playing rhythm throughout all 18 holes today. The course is in fabulous conditions, the fairways are firm, and the greens are receptive but not overly soft. Let’s say everything was just right! Let’s say the conditions were favorable for a good score but not easy. Today’s round confirmed that the gameplan I selected was good and it left me eager to get back out there.”

Asier Aguirre Izcue, 25, of Spain, the winner of last week’s Alps Tour event in Italy, shares the lead in the five-way tie after Round 1. Aguirre claimed his first Alps Tour title just a few days ago and has a strong history at GC Erzherzog Johann, having narrowly missed out on victory in a sudden-death playoff during the 2024 edition of the Gösser Open. “My game today was very similar to last week, especially my shots into the green. They were very good. I made some important putts today, the greens here aren’t easy are they are very grainy. The highlight of the round was on the par 4, 12th hole where I holed out from 70 meters. In the afternoon, the conditions worsen quite a bit compared to this morning as we had a lot of wind gusts and the temperature dropped, which made it more difficult. However, I stayed focus on my game, and it was a great day despite the tougher conditions. For sure the win last week gave me extra confidence and now I will try to continue the same way the rest of the tournament” explained Aguirre Izcue after his opening round.

France’s Maxime Legros, 23, is the final player in the share of the lead after the opening round with a score of 7 under-par, 65. He made 3 birdies and 2 bogeys on his opening front-nine while once he made the turn, he made three birdies in a row from Hole 10 to 12, then eagled the 13th hole and added one more birdie on hole 16 to end his round. “I didn’t hit the ball as good as I could have from the tees, but I kept it in play and gave myself many birdies opportunities. The course is in great shape this week, greens are great which is why I was able to make so many birdies. There are a lot of birdie opportunities on this course if you can place the ball in the correct spots from the tees,” said Legros. “I feel like we didn’t get the best tee time wave as playing in the afternoon today with the wind gusting and some rain didn’t help but I had the right mindset and kept focused on my game instead of external factors.”

The competitors this week, are battling it out for an overall prize fund of €42,500 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The winner of the 33rd edition of the Gösser Open will earn, €6,200 and 6,525 points. Once Round 2 is completed, a cut will be to the top 40 professionals and ties, plus amateurs within the cutline.
