31st May 2024 | Alps Tour Golf
Brandon Kewalramani wins the first edition of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar.
The final round of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar began at 8:15 a.m. local time from the 1st and 10th hole. The leaders group teed off at 9:32 a.m. local time from the 1st hole. The players competing at Club de Golf Playa Serena in Almería, Spain, disputed the final round under a sunny blue sky, a warm temperature, and some strong wind conditions. The stronger wind conditions today, compared to the first two rounds, complicated the scoring opportunities for the players, as only five of them shot an under-par score during today’s round.
Final Round Player Quotes
Brandon Kewalramani, 25, from the United States of America, wins his 1st professional title at the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar. He moved into the lead after yesterday’s round 2, and today, he shot a 1 under-par 69 to conclude the tournament with a three-day total of 10 under-par. This is his 1st professional outright win as he tied for 1st place at last year’s DP World Tour Q-School. In today’s final round, Kewalramani made 2 birdies and 2 bogeys on the front nine holes and then 1 more birdie on the back nine to conclude the day. He was one of 5 players to conclude the final round of the tournament with an under-par score. This is 1st year competing on the Alps Tour, and has been performing well since the beginning of the season. After his win, Kewalramani was very emotional: “I want to thank the Alps Tour for putting on such a fabulous event and the golf course for such great conditions. It played extremely tough today; the wind was up the entire day. I didn’t look at the scoreboard the entire day, I knew I had a three-shot lead to start the day, so I tried to stay in my own little world out there. I tried to take it one shot at a time, and I must say my putter really saved me a lot today, it was fabulous again. I kept telling myself, especially on the back nine, that it was playing tough, so I wanted to keep making pars, and if someone caught or beat me, that’s just great golf they played. So, on the back nine I was aiming for a lot of centers of the greens, it was so windy I didn’t hit it that great, but my short game was great. That’s the reason I was able to win today. The last two days, the wind was down, so I was able to convert birdies, but today it was converting pars or saving pars.” Kewalramani added that he: “wants to dedicate this win to my mom; she was again on the bag this week with me. She means the world to me; she sees what I go through and the hard work that I put in. I was thinking about this last night, what this win would mean, and you know, I kept thinking of how much it would mean to win it with my mom on the bag and here with me. I’m so glad I was able to do that.”
Benjamin Kedochim, 29, from France, concluded the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar in 2nd place with a total score of 7 under-par. He made 6 birdies and 1 bogey for a 2 under-par, 68 in his final round. Kedochim has earned several top 5 finishes in his career but is looking to capture his 1st title on the Alps Tour. He has been playing well since the beginning of the 2024 season and wants to continue to work hard to hopefully earn a trophy in the upcoming events. He was one of 5 players with an under-par score during today’s final round.
After the 8th event of the season, the Alps Tour Order of Merit rank has Italy’s Edoardo R Lipparelli still in the lead with 14,715.00, France’s Benjamin Kedochim is in 2nd place with 14,649.75 points and Aymeric Laussot from France is in 3rd place with 13,054.50. Italy’s Enrico Di Nitto is in 4th place with 12,344.25, and this week’s winner, Brandon Kewalramani from the United States, is in 5th place with 10,192.50.

29th May 2024 | Alps Tour Golf
Two players are tied for the lead after Round 1 at the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar.
Roquetas de Mar, May 29th, 2024 – After the first round of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar, we have a very tight leaderboard. Co-leading at 5 under-par Finland’s Eemil Alajarvi and Ireland’s Paul McBride. There is a 4-way tie for 3rdplace at 4 under-par.
The first round of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar, a new tournament in the Alps Tour 2024 schedule, which is being held at Club de Golf Playa Serena in Almería, Spain, began this morning from Holes 1 and 10 at 8:00 a.m. local time. Players were able to compete in perfect weather conditions as it was a sunny day with light winds and a temperature around 25 °C. This allowed the players in the field to take advantage of optimal scoring opportunities.
Round 1 Player Quotes
Eemil Alajarvi, 24, from Finland, co-leads after round 1 of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar with a first-round score of 5 under-par, 65. He has earned numerous top-10 finishes since he began playing on the Alps Tour but is now looking to break through and earn his first win. His best finish was a 2nd place at the 2022 Aravell Golf Open. During today’s round, Alajarvi made a total of 6 birdies and 1 bogey. After his round, Alajarvi commented on how: “It feels good to play well on the first tournament day, but tomorrow is a new day, so I have to be ready tomorrow as well.” He added that he found: “The course is in very good condition. I played here last year on the Challenge Tour, and then there were some problems with the greens, but now those are now perfect. It plays a bit easier than last year because there is not so deep rough now than last year. On this golf course, there are a couple of difficult holes, but otherwise, the course is quite simple, so I think that the winning score will be in accordance with it.”
Ireland’s Paul McBride, 28, finds himself in the lead alongside Alajarvi after round 1 of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar. During today’s opening round, he shot a 5 under-par, 65 with 4 birdies and 2 bogeys on the front nine and 3 birdies on the back nine to end his round. He has earned numerous top 5 finishes since he began playing on the Alps Tour. McBride’s best finish so far this season is an 18th place at the 2024 Gösser Open. After his round, McBride was extremely satisfied with the day, “I played very well today. Hit the ball very well which is key around this course, I think. I found this course feels longer than courses we’ve played in recent weeks. I think driving is important this week as you can give yourself a lot of good opportunities from the fairway.” He added that he found that: “playing this morning was good but the weather is the same tomorrow so it will probably even itself out.”When asked about the potential winning score on Friday, McBride commented: “I’m not sure what the winning score will be. It is so difficult to tell as the weather on Friday looks very windy. We will see what happens.”
In a 4-way tie for 3rd place with a 1st round score of 4 under-par, there is: Brandon Kewalramani from the United States of America, Spain’s Marcos Pastor, who currently holds the course record at Club de Golf Playa Serena with a 64 back in 2013 when his fellow countryman Pol Bech won the Alps Tour event which took place, Italy’s Mattia Comotti and England’s Harry Goddard.
This week’s competitors are battling for an overall prize fund of €40,000 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The Winner of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar will earn €5,800.00 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.
A cut will be made after 36 holes to the top 40 players and ties. In case of a tie after 54 holes, a sudden-death play-off will determine the Winner of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar.
