Round 3 Player Quotes

Andrea Romano : “It was a really tough day for me because I didn’t sleep well last night. I woke up several times and felt a bit stressed at the start, which showed early on with a bogey on the first and another one on the seventh. But on the back nine, I told myself to stay patient because I knew my game was solid. My putting was key today — when I’m putting well, I know I can be very competitive and put myself in contention. Starting the season like this is amazing, I couldn’t have asked for better start. Now I’ll reset, take a short break, and stay focused because the season is still long and it’s not done yet.”

Mario Galiano Aguilar : “It’s great to be in contention again. Playing in the final groups for three tournaments in a row is an amazing feeling. I’m very happy with my game at the moment, and I’ll try to keep doing the same in the upcoming events. Andrea played incredible golf and fully deserved the win. Now it’s about keeping the momentum going.

Sam Murphy Takes the Lead with a Bogey-Free 65

Egypt, February 18, 2026 – The leaderboard shifted significantly during the second round of the 2026 Ein Bay Open at Sokhna Golf Club. While the early starters enjoyed calm conditions, the wind strengthened around midday, making the course play significantly tougher.

Starting from the 11th tee in the morning wave, Ireland’s Sam Murphy, a graduate of the 2025 Q-School, made a sensational start with seven birdies in his opening eleven holes. He then played steady, controlled golf over the remaining holes, signing for an impressive bogey-free 65 (-7) to move into the outright lead.

Full leaderboard

Murphy holds a two-shot advantage over France’s Alexandre Vandermoten and fellow Irishman Robert Moran, who posted a strong 67 (-5) despite facing tougher conditions in the afternoon wave. Moran was one of the few players in the afternoon to record a score under par.

For tomorrow’s final round, play will begin at 8:00 a.m. from the 1st and 11th tees. At the conclusion of the third round, the winner will receive €6,200 and 6,525 Order of Merit points. In the event of a tie, a playoff will determine the champion.

Round 2 Player Quotes

Sam Murphy : I got off to a good start and knew the conditions would get tougher coming in, especially with the wind picking up over the last few holes. I tried to take advantage early and just play solid golf. I hit 18 greens and missed only a couple of fairways, so it was a really solid round. It never really felt like I was going to make a bogey. I struck the ball well, and even on the greens. I felt comfortable. It was a pretty stress-free round, which was nice. I’ll stick with the same game plan I’ve had all week. Hopefully the wind settles down tomorrow but it’ll be the same approach: play aggressive when I can and conservative when I have to.

The two French players hold a one-shot advantage over a group of four players: Austria’s Lenny Koch, France’s Arthur Ameil-Planchin, Ireland’s Hugh Foley, and Italy’s Davide Buchi.

Full leaderboard

For tomorrow’s Round 2, play will begin at 7:00 a.m. from the 1st and 11th tees. At the conclusion of the second round, a cut will be made to the top 40 players and ties (excluding amateurs) who will advance to the final round of the tournament.

Round 1 Player Quotes

Antoine Auboin : I’m very happy. It’s really been a month and a half since I’ve been able to fully get back to practicing. I had a bit of apprehension, but in the end, the game is still there. I was able to stay patient and enjoy myself from start to finish. I really tried to hit as many fairways and as many greens as possible. And that’s what I managed to do.

Victor Veyret : It was a good round. Bogey-free is always a very nice feeling, to finish like that. I managed the par fives well today, with one birdie and one eagle. I worked hard this winter. I’m working with a new coach, so to see that my game is in better shape than last year is a good feeling.

16th February 2026 | Alps Tour Golf

The 2026 Alps Tour Season Begins in Egypt

Egypt, February 16th, 2026 – The Alps Tour returns to Sokhna Golf Club to open its 2026 season, as the Ein Bay Open and the Red Sea Little Venice Open once again host the first events of the year. This edition carries additional significance, marking the start of the Tour’s 25th anniversary season.

Introduced in 2013, the Egyptian tournaments have become a well-established fixture on the Alps Tour calendar, providing a demanding early-season test and attracting a strong international field year after year.

The 2026 Ein Bay Open will be played from February 17th–19th on courses A&B, followed by the Red Sea Little Venice Open from February 22nd–24th on courses B&C. The traditional Pro-Am will take place on February 20th at Sokhna Golf Club.

The Field

Both tournaments will feature 120 players, representing 18 nations, including 16 amateur competitors.

Spain’s Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela, winner of the 2025 Red Sea Little Venice Open, returns to Sokhna as one of the standout names in the field. He is joined by multiple winners from the 2025 season, including Italy’s Andrea Romano, who claimed the Alps de Andalucia–Roquetas de Mar, and Spain’s Jorge Maicas, winner of the Gösser Open. The return of Benjamin Kedochim, the 2024 Order of Merit winner, further reinforces the depth and competitiveness of the field at the start of this milestone season.

Each tournament will offer a prize fund of €42,500 and 45,000 Order of Merit points, with €6,200 and 6,525 points awarded to the winner. Both events will be contested over 54 holes of stroke play, with a cut after 36 holes.

With five HotelPlanner Tour cards available at the end of the season, the opening events in Egypt mark the first key step in the race for promotion, which will culminate at the Alps Tour Grand Final, held for the very first time at Hulencourt in Belgium.

The Courses

Sokhna Golf Club, located in Ain Sokhna along the shores of the Gulf of Suez, will once again host the opening tournaments of the season. The venue, featuring 27 holes, has been a regular stop on the Alps Tour schedule since 2013.

The Ein Bay Open will be contested on courses A&B (Par 72, 6,968 metres), while the Red Sea Little Venice Open will be played on courses B&C (Par 72, 6,670 metres).

Designed by John Sanford and Tim Lobb, the layout combines gently undulating fairways with strategically positioned bunkers and water hazards. Its coastal setting can introduce challenging wind conditions, adding another strategic dimension to the competition.

Sokhna Golf Club is a joint venture between the Little Venice Golf Resort, part of Hassan Allam Properties, and El Ein Bay, owned by Galalah Touristic Investments Company.

Tournament Sponsors

The 2026 Ein Bay Open and the 2026 Red Sea Little Venice Open are supported by Sokhna Golf Club, the Egyptian Golf Federation, Elano, Hechter Paris, Holibees, Mercedes, and TPC – Touristic Promotion Company.

As the Alps Tour celebrates its 25th anniversary season, the opening events in Egypt once again set the stage for a new year of competition.
