Repetto secures La Cigale Golf Open title after tournament cut to 36 holes

Tabarka, March 27^th, 2025 – La Cigale Golf Open by Alps Tour concluded with Spaniard Rocco Repetto emerging as the champion after the tournament was officially shortened to 36 holes due to unplayable weather conditions. The third and final round, scheduled for today, was cancelled following a decision by Tournament Director Bertrand Aycoberry, prompted by persistent high winds and thunderstorms in the area. As a result, the scores at the end of yesterday’s second round have been declared final, crowning Repetto the winner at -8 (66-70).

Repetto’s performance in the second round, featuring a bogey-free back nine with a chip-in birdie on the 16th and a closing birdie on the 18th, secured his lead. Italy’s Filippo Bergamaschi finished a close second at -7 (66-71), just one shot behind, after holding the lead earlier in the day. France’s Tom Gueant claimed third place at -6 (68-70), while Spain’s Alejandro Aguilera and Italy’s Jacopo Vecchi Fossa shared fourth place at -4, four strokes under par.

After the 2025 La Cigale Open by Alps Tour, the Alps Tour Order of Merit ranking still has Spain’s Álvaro Hernández Cabezuela in the lead with 15,258.45 points. The tournament winner, Spaniard Rocco Repetto, jumps to 2nd place with 13,773.63 points. France’s Quentin Debove slips to 3rd place with 10,856.25 points, closely followed by Spain’s Javier Barcos Garbayo with 10,337.65 points. Repetto leads Bergamaschi by one stroke as La Cigale Golf Open heads to Final Round

Tabarka, March 26^th, 2025 – The second round of the La Cigale Golf Open by Alps Tour was heavily influenced by challenging weather conditions that prevented players from performing at their peak throughout the day. Persistent rain, occasionally pausing but often returning in intense bursts lasting several minutes, combined with a strong westerly wind, featuring gusts exceeding 40 km/h, particularly affected the seaside holes.

Spaniard Rocco Repetto, starting in the afternoon, seized the tournament lead with a bogey-free back nine, highlighted by a chip-in birdie on the 16th and another birdie on the final hole. Repetto stands at -8 (66-70). Hot on his heels is Italy’s Filippo Bergamaschi, who began the day in the morning and held the lead until Repetto’s late surge with two closing birdies. Bergamaschi sits at -7 (66-71), just one shot back. In third place is France’s Tom Gueant at -6 (68-70). Spain’s Alejandro Aguilera and Italy’s Jacopo Vecchi Fossa share fourth place at -4, four shots under par.

Only 14 players managed to stay under par after this weather-affected day. Ireland’s Ronan Mullarney posted the best score of the round, an impressive 68 (-4), featuring four birdies and one eagle on the par-4, 366-meter, 14th hole.

The cut left 43 players in contention, all set to take the course tomorrow for the final round of the La Cigale Golf Open.

ROUND 2 PLAYERS QUOTES
Spanish golfer Rocco Repetto, 22, teed off in the afternoon session today and shared his thoughts on his round:

“It was a tough day out there. We had rain on the front nine and wind gusts on the back nine. I wasn’t hitting my irons great, but I chipped and putted very well, which I’m really pleased about because I managed to get up-and-down a lot. I also chipped in on the seventh hole, my 16th, for a birdie. That was a great bonus, especially since I knew I needed another birdie coming in to take the lead on the leaderboard.”

Filippo Bergamaschi, 30, started in the morning and held the top spot on the leaderboard throughout the afternoon until Repetto caught up and overtook him. Repetto sealed the lead by one stroke with a birdie on the 18th.

“It was a challenging day, but I’m satisfied with my game,” Bergamaschi said. “On the sixth hole, my 15th, as I started on the 10th, I pulled my drive to the right. The ball hit the path and ended up in the bushes, and unfortunately, I made a bogey. The weather conditions affected everyone today, and on this course, it’s never easy, so you have to stay focused and can’t afford mistakes. I’m pleased with my tee-to-green play. I holed quite a few putts, and maybe two, which were struck really well, could have gone in, but they didn’t.”

Tom Gueant, 23, famed for winning the 2019 British Boys Amateur as the first French player to do so in 60 years, later moved to Florida to pursue studies and golf. He turned professional in 2024, and this marks his first full season on the Alps Tour.

“For me, it was a good day today,” Gueant said. “The weather was very changeable and tough to adapt to, but I stuck to my game plan. I saved some solid pars when the conditions made it difficult. On the fifth hole, after a poor first shot, I ended up in the bunker with my second, but I made a really good up-and-down from there. Then, when the conditions improved slightly, I was able to attack a bit and create some birdie opportunities, which I capitalized on at a few holes. I’m pretty pleased with my round and excited to be near the top of the leaderboard. Tomorrow, the weather is supposed to be even worse, so we’ll try to adapt, but at least everyone will be in the same conditions.”

FINAL ROUND

The Final Round is scheduled for tomorrow morning, with tee times starting at 7:00 a.m. from both hole 1 and hole 10 at 10-minute intervals. The leading group will tee off from hole 1 at 8:10 a.m.

Spanish-Italian duo takes the lead at the 2025 La Cigale Golf Open by Alps Tour

Tabarka, March 25^th, 2025 – Following the conclusion of the First Round of the 2025 La Cigale Golf Open by Alps Tour, the leaderboard is topped by the Spanish-Italian duo of Rocco Repetto and Filippo Bergamaschi, both at six strokes under par. The players enjoyed favorable conditions today, with the course well-prepared, minimal wind, pristine greens, and a few drops of rain in the morning that did not impact the professionals’ performance. The Spaniard posted a bogey-free round, while the Italian dropped four strokes due to two errors but made up for it with an impressive nine birdies.
Just behind them is Frenchman Tom Gueant at -4, followed by fellow French players Maxime Legros, Quentin Debove, and Xavier Poncelet, who share fourth place at -3 alongside England’s Mason Essam and Spain’s Manuel Ballesteros.
Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela, a two-time winner earlier this season and the current Order of Merit leader, completed his first round at one stroke under par, placing him in a tie for 15th position.

Rocco Repetto, 22, has been a standout in this early part of the season, and today he once again displayed his strong game by taking the lead after the morning round. Here are his thoughts on his first day of play in Tabarka:

“The course was beautiful today. We had a little bit of rain over the first four or five holes, but overall, it was great. The greens were soft and rolling nicely, and my putter was working well for me today, allowing me to hole a lot of putts. I also hit a lot of fairways, which helped me keep my round bogey-free and play some really solid golf. I’m excited to get back out there tomorrow and hopefully, the weather stays good for all of us.”

Filippo Bergamaschi, 33 years old from Bergamo, has been playing on the Alps Tour since 2014. His record includes five top-10 finishes on the Alps Tour, a full season on the DP World Tour, and several seasons on the HotelPlanner Tour. Here’s what he told us about his -6 today:

“Today was a very unusual round. I started well, making two birdies on the first two holes. Then, at the third hole, I lost my ball off the tee, probably because I chose the wrong club and ended up going long into the bushes. With my second ball, I was able to save a bogey. From there, I made three more birdies in a row, bringing me back to -4, and I finished the front nine at five under par. On the 12th, a par 5, I stumbled into a silly double bogey when I was just 80 meters from the green, but I bounced back with three more birdies. The course is really beautiful, and you need to play well to achieve a good result because mistakes come at a high cost. You really pay dearly for any errors.”

The second round of the 2025 La Cigale Golf Open by Alps Tour will start at 07:15 to 08:45 from the tee of hole 1 and the tee of hole 10. The afternoon block will be from 11:45 to 13:15, also from both starting tees.

Thanks to a three-year partnership agreement signed in 2024, Tunisia has strengthened its commitment to the Alps Tour by hosting two tournaments in 2025. This expansion is made possible through the continued support of the Tunisian National Tourism Office (ONTT), The Residence Tunis, and La Cigale Tabarka Hôtel-Thalasso-Golf, whose dedication ensures the success of these prestigious events.

The La Cigale Golf Open by Alps Tour returns to the breathtaking La Cigale Tabarka Golf Course, a venue celebrated for its challenging layout and world-class facilities. Having previously hosted the Tunisian Golf Open in 2024, this course now welcomes players for another exciting chapter in the Alps Tour calendar. The event underscores Tunisia’s appeal as a golf tourism hub, blending exceptional courses with top-tier hospitality.

Kicking off the week, the La Cigale Golf Open Pro-Am will take place on Sunday March 23rd at La Cigale Tabarka Golf Course. With a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The Pro-Am will feature 24 teams, offering amateurs the chance to compete alongside Alps Tour professionals in a festive and competitive atmosphere.

THE FIELD

The 2025 La Cigale Golf Open by Alps Tour features a competitive field of players from the top of the 2025 Alps Tour Order of Merit, showcasing some of the Tour’s most promising new talents. Leading the group is Álvaro Hernández Cabezuela, who has claimed two victories this season, including yesterday’s triumph at the Tunisian Golf Open and his earlier win at the Red Sea Little Venice Open. Spanish Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela triumphs at the 2025 Tunisian Golf Open

Tunis, March 22^nd, 2025 – On a day marked by moderate winds that intensified toward the final holes for the field’s top players, Spain’s Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela emerged victorious at the 2025 Tunisian Golf Open. With a total score of 13 under par (69-62), Cabezuela delivered the day’s best performance, securing his second win of the season in just four tournaments. Finishing tied for second at 11 under par were Italy’s Jacopo Vecchi Fossa and Spain’s Rocco Repetto.

Cabezuela, starting in the penultimate flight, wasted no time asserting his dominance. He opened with a par on the first hole, followed by an impressive run of five consecutive birdies, finishing the front nine at -6 with an additional birdie on the eighth. He maintained his momentum on the back nine, notching two birdies in a row, then holding steady with pars over the next four holes. Sometimes you put in a lot of effort and it doesn’t reflect on the course, so it feels good to finally showcase a level of play that I’ve believed I’ve been capable of for the past few years, even when my scores didn’t always show it.”

We met Jacopo Vecchi Fossa, 30, after today’s round, and he seemed very pleased with his performance, which has brought him to 6th place in the Alps Tour order of merit. Here are his thoughts on today’s round:

“I started really well because I was at -6 after 9 holes. I made three birdies on the par fives and then added three more birdies, playing very solidly, always hitting the green and often getting close to the hole. Then I probably made a strategic mistake on the 11th, where I made a bogey. Today, I struggled a bit with the par 3s, and at times I found it hard to judge the wind direction and decide which club to use. Still, I’m really happy because I finished at -7. Alvaro was better today, but I’m confident that a win will come sooner.”

The 22-year-old Spaniard Rocco Repetto pulled off an incredible shot on the 18th hole today, scoring an albatross and rescuing a round that had previously distanced him from the leaderboard. Here’s what he had to say:

“The first round was really tough; the wind was blowing like crazy, and I just had to survive, try to place the ball in good spots, and make as many pars and birdies as possible while hoping to avoid any double bogeys. Today was easier with less wind. I started off strong, playing well, but then I kind of lost my rhythm in the middle of the round. Luckily, I managed a nice little comeback toward the end and finished 2-2 (birdie-albatross) to shoot a -7 today. I’ll be playing the full season on the Alps Tour, competing in all the events I can, and I’m focused on doing my very best this season.”

Alessandro Nodari leads in Tunisia as wind shortens tournament to 36 holes

Tunis, March 21^th, 2025 – Following yesterday’s suspension due to strong winds, Round 1 of the 2025 Tunisian Golf Open concluded this morning. Despite persistent gusty conditions, play resumed and the round was completed successfully.

At the top of the leaderboard is Italy’s Alessandro Nodari, who finished at 5-under par. Trailing closely behind are Italy’s Jacopo Vecchi Fossa and Spain’s Rocco Repetto, both at 4-under. Three players share fourth place at 3-under: Spain’s Mario Galliano Aguilar and Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela, alongside French amateur Paul Franquet. Six players sit at 2-under, including Italians Lucas Fallotico, Mattia Comotti, and Manfredi Manica, joined by France’s Xavier Poncelet, England’s Harry Goddard, and Spain’s Javier Barcos.

Due to today’s adverse weather conditions, tournament officials decided to shorten the event to 36 holes. As a result, play did not continue beyond Round 1 today. The cut was set at +2, allowing the top 40 players and ties, totaling 53 players, to advance.

Alessandro Nodari, a 24-year-old Italian from Vicenza, is teeing off his rookie season on the Alps Tour after turning pro last autumn during the Qualifying School. Today, Nodari kicked off his round from the 9th hole and here’s what he had to say after his round:

“I started on the 9th today, feeling a bit jittery. This morning, it seemed calm with no wind, but then, gusts kicked up on the tee, and I was a touch rattled. I misfired on my first two shots and couldn’t save par. Then I dropped another bogey on the 12th. It was a tough day out there, the wind stayed strong, but I played very solid from tee to green. My putting was on point, and then I scored four birdies, including two long putts on the par-3 14th and on the closing hole.”

The 22-year-old Spaniard Rocco Repetto, currently in 7th position in the Order of Merit, is in his first official season on the Alps Tour. Here are his words:

“It was a special round; the wind was crazy. I was trying to focus as much as possible to shoot the lowest score I could while surviving out there. I hit a lot of good shots and a lot of long drives, which helped me perform on the par 5s. It was very tough out there, and I think the Alps Tour did the best thing possible for the tournament. I hit as many low shots against the wind as I possibly could and tried to chip the best I could.”

Jacopo Vecchi Fossa, a 30-year-old Italian from Reggio Emilia, has built a notable golf career, winning three Alps Tour events in 2020 and 2021 (Italy Open, Abruzzo Alps Open, and Golf Nazionale Alps Open) and the Alps Tour Order of Merit in 2021, earning him a spot on the HotelPlanner Tour in 2022. He also won the Italian National Open Championship in 2018 and 2021, and the PGAI Championship in 2019 and 2023, alongside many top-10 finishes. Here’s what he said about his round today:

“Yesterday, I didn’t start playing very well, but I managed to hole a long 20-meters putt on the third hole, which helped me a lot. I made three bogeys and three birdies yesterday, finishing at par. This morning, there was less wind, and I took good advantage of holes 16 and 18. Over the two days, I played the par fives well, there are five on this course, and made birdie on all of them. I played solidly in all parts of my game, because in these conditions, to shoot 4 under, you can’t do it if you’re playing badly…”

Round 1 of the 2025 Tunisian Golf Open suspended due to strong wind

Tunis, March 20^th, 2025 – The players competing in the 2025 Tunisian Golf Open faced challenging weather conditions today, with persistent strong winds and gusts. First-round play began at 7:20 a.m. local time from both the 1st and 10th holes. The players who teed off in the morning managed to complete their rounds, but by early afternoon, the wind intensified, making play impossible. At 2:35 p.m. local time, Tournament Director Mr. Bertrand Aycoberry suspended play due to the extreme wind conditions.

The leaderboard currently shows Germany’s Malte Von Blankenfeld leading at -4 after completing seven holes, while Spain’s Victor Garcia Broto sits at -3 through five holes. Nine players are at two strokes under par, including France’s Xavier Poncelet, Italy’s Lucas Fallotico, and England’s Harry Goddard, all of whom have completed their rounds. Italians Federico Livio, Alessandro Nodari, and Mattia Comotti, along with Spaniards Mario Galiano Aguilar, Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela, and Javier Barcos, are also at two under par but still have more than nine holes left to play.

The first round of the 2025 Tunisian Golf Open will resume tomorrow, March 21st, at 7:20 a.m. local time.

SECOND ROUND

If conditions permit, the Morning Section of the second round is expected to begin at 10:30 a.m., immediately after the conclusion of the first round. As for the Afternoon Section of the second round, a decision will be made in the morning based on weather conditions.

The Tunisian Swing kicks off with 2025 Tunisian Golf Open at The Residence

Tunis, March 17^th, 2025 – The Alps Tour season resumes with its fourth tournament of the year, the 2025 Tunisian Golf Open, scheduled from March 20^th to 22^nd at The Residence Golf Course in Tunis. Following the Egypt Swing, Alps Tour players are now set for the Tunisian Swing, which includes this week’s event and the 2025 La Cigale Golf Open by Alps Tour, taking place from March 25^th to 27^th at La Cigale Tabarka Golf Course in Tabarka.

Following a three-year partnership agreement signed in 2024, Tunisia has in fact doubled its commitment with the Alps Tour by adding a second tournament to the 2025 schedule, thanks to the involvement of the Tunisian National Tourism Office (ONTT), The Residence Tunis, and La Cigale Tabarka Hôtel-Thalasso-Golf.

The first of the two events, the Tunisian Golf Open, was previously held at El Kantaoui in 2015 and 2016, while in 2024, it took place at La Cigale Tabarka Golf.

This year marks the debut of The Residence Golf Course on the tour’s calendar, aiming to increase recognition and visibility for Tunisia as a premier golf destination.

Tunisia’s world-class golf destinations, like The Residence Golf Course and La Cigale Tabarka Golf, are crucial for the Alps Tour. Their prestigious courses and top accommodations make Tunisia an ideal golf tourism hub. Adding these venues to the Alps Tour schedule elevates both the Tour’s reputation and Tunisia’s status as a leading golf destination on the world stage.

Two Pro-Ams will take place before each of the two tournaments. The Tunisian Golf Open Pro-Am will be hosted on March 19^th, at The Residence GC Tunis, with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. and the participation of 24 teams.

THE FIELD

The Tunisian Golf Open features a strong field of players from the top of the 2025 Alps Tour Order of Merit, showcasing some of the best new talents on the Tour. Among them are Quentin Debove (France), who leads the Order of Merit with 9,661.50 points, Javier Barcos (Spain), winner of the New Giza Open, with 9,313.00 points, Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela (Spain), who claimed the Red Sea Little Venice Open, with 8,922.38 points, and Luca Galliano (Switzerland), who secured victory at the Ein Bay Open (7,042.50 pts).

The defending champion, Gianmaria Rean Trinchero of Italy, is confirmed to participate. After securing victory in the 2024 edition at La Cigale Tabarka, Trinchero returns to defend his title, which marked an important milestone in his career.

French golfer Benjamin Kedochim, winner of last season’s Order of Merit and holder of one of the five HotelPlanner Tour cards for the season, has been confirmed to participate as well. In 2024, he had six podium finishes on the Alps Tour (four second places and two third places), securing the Order of Merit title despite not claiming a victory.

With 20 nations represented, the tournament highlights the global reach of the Alps Tour, setting the stage for some exciting battles both at The Residence Course and the following week, at La Cigale Tabarka Golf.

Founded in 2001, the Alps Tour is more than just a competition; it serves as a true training ground for young talents aspiring to reach the top levels of professional golf. Its main goal is to provide emerging players with a competitive and developmental environment that prepares them for the challenges of higher-tier circuits. A key opportunity for these players comes through the agreement with the HotelPlanner Tour, which awards five cards to the top performers at the end of the season, granting them access to the next level of competition.
