Stunning Bihan two shots clear

Frenchman Alan Bihan proved again he deserved his leading place at Alps Tour Order of Merit. He shot 65, 7 under par to lead by 2 strokes in the heat of Bologna, Italia. Behind him, Italian Marco Cidonio and Spaniard Moises Cobo. Cobo was co-leader at club house after half of field finished its round. The 26 years old rookie – he just turned pro 8 months ago – did play a solid golf.

“I hit the ball very well. I got 16 greens and holed 7 birdies. I was in Austria on Challenge Tour last week and I did well there too. I am part of the Spanish group managed by Federation and the deal is that we, 6 players, got 7 invitations on Challenge Tour and some on Tour. I will share my time between all circuits and see what is going on.”

Morning session players had about 2 hours to play in decent conditions. The temperature started to get high around 11 o’clock to raise more than 30°C. In the middle of the fairways, golf course le Fonti was like an oven.

But Alan Bihan is used to deal with these kind of temperature. Frenchman was born in Brazil, then moved to Chile when he was 6 and only came back to France in 1997. Bihan has been playing on Alps Tour for 4 years and his father is carrying the bag on each tournament. Father and son are doing well working together.

“I played today as well as I did in Paris but here I holed the putt so obviously it makes a difference. I am playing well since the beginning of the season and honestly the best decision we made was to move back to Chile. People are so nice and welcoming. I have a big support of Golf Club Las Brisas de Chicureo and I can play Pacific Tour to practice during winter in Europe. We are a group of 5 or 6 players including Felipe Aguilar, we practice together and it really helps me. Of course the target is to stay in the first 5 of Alps Tour and maybe keep the lead. It would be better for the ranking in the category to play Challenge Tour next year.”

Spaniard Carlos Balmaseda, last month winner in Slovenia, signed for 68.
