Lars Keunen holds off the chasing pack to win in La Gomera
La Gomera, July 4th, 2026 – Although he started the final round alone at the top of the leaderboard, Lars Keunen still had plenty of work to do at the Fred. Olsen Alps de La Gomera. The Dutchman rose to the occasion with another composed display at Tecina Golf, securing the third Alps Tour title of his career, following the 2020 Ein Bay Open and the 2023 Tenerife Pro Golf Open.
The 29-year-old, who has made every cut this season, managed the final round superbly. His flawless 65 (-6) never gave his closest challengers a real opportunity to close the gap.
Starting the day further back, France’s Paul Margolis and Italy’s Mattia Comotti both carded 66 (-5) to climb into a share of second place, four shots behind the winner. They were joined by Spain’s Eduard Rousaud and Italy’s Marco Florioli.
With this victory, Keunen earns €6,900 and 6,525 Order of Merit points, moving up to sixth in the season standings, just behind Alexandre Vandermoten (3rd), Robert Moran (4th), Pablo Alperi (5th), and Enrico Di Nitto (6th).
The race for qualification to the 2026 Hulencourt Alps Tour Grand Final and promotion to the HotelPlanner Tour will resume on Thursday, July 9th, at Golf de Lerma, Spain, for the 2026 Alps de Las Castillas.
Round 3 Player Quotes
Lars Keunen: “It was obviously a great day. I felt very relaxed this morning, having breakfast with an amazing view over the Atlantic Ocean. Knowing that around 20 players were within a few shots, I knew I had to keep making birdies myself.
I didn’t have the perfect start, but I stayed patient. I took advantage of the scoring holes, especially the par fives, and tried not to look at the leaderboard too much. The birdie on the 15th was a big turning point, and after that I felt in control. By the end, it was a pretty relaxed finish.
Having my girlfriend here this week was a huge help. She kept me positive whenever I started being too hard on myself. She said she came for the vibes… and I guess she got the vibes. Now I’m looking forward to next week’s tournament in Spain and seeing what I can do there.”
Paul Margolis: “Overall, the three rounds were very similar. I played really well from tee to green, and my short game was very solid too. To be honest, every part of my game was in good shape this week. I’ve felt my game improving steadily over the last few tournaments, so this result gives me a lot of confidence. Now I just want to keep doing the same things I’ve been doing over the past three or four events: keep it simple, focus on my own game and not on what everyone else is doing.”
