French rookie Alexandre Bauduin shines early at the Open de Roissy – Grand Prix PGA France

France, May 28th, 2026 – The warm temperatures in the Paris region did little to slow down Alexandre Bauduin on Thursday. The 23-year-old French rookie, in his first professional season, carded an impressive 64 (-8) to take the opening-round lead at the Open de Roissy – Grand Prix PGA France.

On the demanding layout of Golf International de Roissy, the C&S Golf Team player recorded nine birdies and just one bogey, coming at the 17th hole.

Playing also in the afternoon wave, fellow Frenchman Xavier Poncelet also impressed, signing a flawless 66 (-6) to sit two shots back. A group of three players shares third place at -5: Spaniard Alvaro Hernandez Cabezuela, Dutchman Lars Keunen and Frenchman Louis Darthenay.

For Round 2, play will begin at 7:45 a.m. from both the 1st and 10th tees. At the conclusion of the second round, a cut will be made to the top 40 professionals and ties, who will advance to the final round (including all amateurs within the cut).

Round 2 Player Quotes

Alexandre Bauduin: “I’m very pleased with my game today. Every part of it was solid, and I managed to stay calm despite the heat. I really focused on my process, taking it one shot at a time, and it worked well. I honestly didn’t know where I stood during the round, which helped me stay relaxed and simply enjoy the day.”

Xavier Poncelet: “It was a really good round, especially in these hot conditions. My putting was solid, I managed some important up-and-downs, and I played the par fives well. I stayed out of trouble and gave myself plenty of birdie chances, so I’m happy to be back near the top of the leaderboard.
