France’s Paul Franquet takes control ahead of the final round
Egypt, April 25th, 2026 – Could we see a third consecutive French victory on the Alps Tour? After wins by Alexandre Vandermoten at the Villa Paradiso Alps Open and Maxime Legros at the Dreamland Open, Paul Franquet has put himself in a strong position to continue the streak.
The player from Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche backed up his opening 66 (-6) with another solid round of 67 (-5) to take the lead heading into the final day.
However, nothing is decided yet in Cairo. Italy’s Luca Memeo, France’s Aymeric Laussot, and Spain’s Gonzalo Leal are all just two shots behind, while France’s Tom Guéant remains in contention three strokes off the lead.
For tomorrow’s final round, play will begin at 7:45 a.m. from both the 1st and 10th tees. At the conclusion of the third round, the winner will receive €6,200 and 6,525 Order of Merit points. In the event of a tie, a playoff will determine the champion.
Round 2 Player Quote
Paul Franquet : “Paradoxically, I played much better than yesterday. I honestly had the chance to go lower, but I didn’t putt very well and made three pars on the par 5s while being close to the greens. I’m in a good position for the final round, so I’ll try to play the same way and hopefully make a few more putts. I’ll stay shot by shot, stick to my strategy, trust myself, and if I do that, I think it will work out.”
