Amateur Clément Sordet wins in France after first extra hole

French amateur Clément Sordet defeated Emilien Chamaulte after first extra hole to win Open de la Mirabelle d’Or in France. Sordet, 19 year old, had shot 66 to join his fellow Emilien Chamaulte, 34 year old. Chamaulte has been leading all day despite the assaults from everywhere. Richard Kilpatrick had a wonderfull day and signed for 64. Swiss Martin Rominger with his 64, 7 under par, could have been a danger for Chamaulte as well. And finally, France’s Remi Dupuis, only 2 strokes back, kept on holing birdies after dropping one shot on first hole. Dupuis, finished on the podium, his best ranking on Alps Tour after 18 months on the circuit.

The danger for Emilien Chamaulte came from himself. He had one shot advantage teeing off the last hole. Unfortunatly, he dropped one shot there and opened the door to a play off. He missed one meter putt on first extra hole and offered a maiden win among pros for amateur Clément Sordet.

“It’s my first win this season, it is weird to say that because there are some good players here. I did not expect that, that’s odd…”

Sordet jumped at 8th on the Alps Tour ranking. If he deceides to turn pro at the end of the year, he would keep theses points in the final ranking. Rémi Dupuis is now at 19th place and the top 5 did not change.
