French trio shares the lead after Round 1 of the Allegria Open
Egypt, April 24th, 2026 – French players dominated the opening day at Allegria Golf Club, with three of them sharing the lead after the first round of the Allegria Open.
In the morning, Aymeric Laussot and Damien Perrier set the pace with excellent rounds of 66 (-6). Laussot carded seven birdies and one bogey, while Perrier produced a flawless round, highlighted by a remarkable hole-out eagle from 80 metres on the 2nd hole.
They were later joined at the top by Paul Franquet, who produced one of the standout moments of the day by recording back-to-back eagles on holes 14 and 15.
The leaderboard remains extremely tight, with Spain’s Gonzalo Leal and Josep Maria Serra Busquet, alongside Italy’s Luca Memeo and Federico Livio, just one shot behind the leaders.
For Round 2, play will begin at 8:00 a.m. from both the 1st and 10th tees. At the conclusion of the second round, a cut will be made to the top 40 professionals and ties, who will advance to the final round (including all amateurs within the cut).
Round 1 Player Quotes
Aymeric Laussot : “It’s quite funny because I was hitting the ball really poorly on the range this morning, so I told myself I just had to deal with it. In the end, it worked out well and I got off to a great start. I played well on the tougher holes and the par 3s, even though I didn’t take full advantage of the par 5s.
It’s a long course where positioning is key — if you’re on the wrong side, it’s almost impossible to recover. The fairways are quite wide off the tee, but iron play is very important here.”
Damien Perrier : “I had a really enjoyable day, with a great vibe in the group as the other players were also playing well. That definitely helped — there was a real positive energy between us. Even though I didn’t get much sleep with the time change and didn’t feel at my best physically, I managed to stay fully focused shot by shot, which is crucial on a course like this.
I also had a nice bonus early on with the hole-out, which obviously helps to get your round and your tournament off to a great start.”
