Final Round Players Quotes
France’s Victor Dubuisson, 35, a former Ryder Cup player and two-time DP World Tour winner, clinched the 2025 Biarritz Cup by C&S Partners after a dramatic two-hole sudden-death playoff against Spain’s Jorge Maicas. Both players made par on the first playoff hole, but Dubuisson secured the victory with a birdie on the second. Known for his exceptional short game and composure under pressure, Dubuisson brought valuable experience to the event. A standout in European golf, his rare appearance on the Alps Tour offered younger players a unique opportunity to compete alongside one of France’s most accomplished professionals. After sitting tied for fourth place at 11-under-par through two rounds, he delivered a flawless final round of 8-under-par 61, carding nine birdies (holes 1, 5, 6, 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, and 18) and a single bogey on the 13th. Reflecting on the week, Dubuisson said: “I’m very happy, and especially pleased for Gerald. He’s the title sponsor of the tournament and the one who invited me to play this week. We met through golf and developed a strong friendship. I admire how he supports young golfers and professionals—that’s created a special bond between us. I’m also proud to coach some of his players, and this week, the plan was for him to caddie for me so we could experience the tournament together. It definitely turned out to be a great week.” He added: “You couldn’t ask for a better sponsor than Gerald or a more professionally organized tournament than this edition of the Biarritz Cup. It was a real pleasure to be part of it.” Commenting on his 18th hole birdie, Dubuisson said: “Those putts are never easy—especially uphill ones, which I don’t particularly like—and I had a few more than usual today. But once you hit a good putt, it’s out of your hands whether it drops or not. That last one was an excellent putt to finish with.”
Spain’s Jorge Maicas, 27, secured a strong runner-up finish at this week’s event with a three-day total of 19-under-par. Maicas delivered a flawless final round of 9-under-par 60, carding nine birdies on holes 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 14, and 15. The performance capped off an impressive week for the rising Spanish talent, who captured his first Alps Tour title earlier this season at the 2025 Gösser Open.
The highlight of the day belongs to French amateur Gregoire Hoyeau, who made a fabulous hole-in-one on the par 3, 7th hole with a 6-iron.
