Final Round Player Quotes

Spain’s Antonio Hortal, 36, claimed the 2025 Alps de Las Castillas title after a steady week that saw him in contention from start to finish. After leading following the opening round and entering the final day in second place, Hortal closed with a 5-under-par 67 to finish the tournament at 16-under-par overall. He got off to a fast start, carding four birdies in his first five holes (1, 3, 4, and 5). Despite a bogey on the 6th hole, he bounced back with another birdie at the 9th hole to make the turn at 4-under. A brief stumble with back-to-back bogeys on holes 12 and 13 threatened to derail his momentum, but Hortal responded with a clutch finish, rolling in birdies on the final three holes (16, 17, and 18) to secure a hard-fought win in a tightly contested leaderboard. “It was a very solid day, my putting was really good, and I kept the same strong long game from tee to green I’ve had the whole week,” said Hortal“I drove the ball well, which helped me set up short approaches and gave me plenty of birdie chances which I was able to take advantage.” Reflecting on his preparation and performance, he added: “The work I’m doing is paying off. My swing feels good, I’m seeing progress in the gym, and the putting is in great shape.” This marks Hortal’s first victory in the past two years. “I won a Challenge Tour event back in 2014 and another event on the PGA Spain circuit a few years ago, but it’s been two years since I last lifted a trophy. They’ve done a great job here in Albacete.” Hortal concluded by thanking those closest to him: “First of all, to my family, my wife, daughters, father, and mother, and also to my coaches. This win is for them.”
