Alps Tour Golf: Kicking off the 25th Season
France, January 30th 2025 – The Alps Tour kicks off its 25th Season with many confirmations and some exciting new additions to its calendar, reaffirming its position as one of the leading platforms for developing young golf talents since 2001 and continuing to play its role in shaping the champions of tomorrow.
The 2025 Alps Tour calendar will span seven countries, ensuring an international dimension that enhances the players’ experience. In addition to the historically featured and currently confirmed countries, the new season will introduce some innovations and collaborations designed to amplify the tour’s global impact.
The 2025 season will feature events in Egypt, Tunisia, Italy, Austria, France, Spain and Andorra, with tournaments running from February to October culminating in the 2025 Alps Tour Grand Final. While some dates and details are still being finalized, the program promises a thrilling mix of competition and stunning landscapes.
The season starts in Northern Africa: first in Egypt with two traditional events at the Sokhna Golf Club in El Ein Bay. The Alps Tour returns to Sokna Golf for the 13th consecutive year, as the first edition of the Red Sea Ein Bay Open dates back to 2013. The Ein Bay Open will take place from February 19th to 21st, followed by the Red Sea Little Venice Open from February 24th to 26th. The tour then moves to Cairo for the 4th edition of the New Giza Open at the stunning New Giza Golf Club, March 1st to 3rd.
After a first successful experience last year, Tunisia doubles and will host two stops: the Tunisian Golf Open from March 20th to 22nd at The Residence Golf Tunis, and a second one from March 25th to 27th at La Cigale Tabarka Golf.
After a short break, the Alps Tour will return to Europe in May for a staple event on the calendar: the 11th edition of the Memorial Giorgio Bordoni, scheduled from May 7th to 9th at Golf La Pinetina, near Milan. The competition will continue in Austria with the oldest tournament on the schedule: the Gösser Open, taking place from May 15th to 17th at GC Erzherzog Johann, set in the picturesque setting of Maria Lankowitz. This event has been a fixture of the Alps Tour calendar since its inception in 2001 but dates back to 1993. The month will conclude in France, from May 22nd to 24th, with the Lacanau Alps Open, hosted at UGolf Lacanau, near Bordeaux.
June will bring the tour to Spain with the Alps Andalucia-Roquetas de Mar, from June 4th to 6th at Golf Playa Serena in Almería. The next stop, from June 13th to 15th, will be in France and the event is still to be confirmed. The tour will wrap up the month with the 2025 Aravell Golf Andorra Open by Creand at Aravell Golf & Country Club in Spain near the Andorra border, from June 26th to 28th.
In July, the Alps Tour is delighted to announce a much-awaited comeback to La Gomera in the Canary Islands for the fifth edition of the Fred Olsen Alps de La Gomera, from July 3rd to 5th, hosted at Tecina Golf, where players will enjoy the completely renovated hotel. The next event, the Alps de Las Castillas, will take place from July 9th to 11th at Club de Golf Las Pinaillas. A new, special event – The Biarritz Cup, the oldest and most prestigious amateur tournament in Continental Europe, which celebrated his 125th anniversary last year – will take place at Golf Biarritz Le Phare (France) from July 25th to 27th and will feature a brand-new format, with half of the field reserved to the Elite Amateurs and half to the Alps Tour players.
September will host two more important events in France, starting with the Longwy Alps Open at UGolf Longwy International near the Luxembourg border from September 4th to 6th. This will be followed by the Hauts de France-Pas de Calais Open, at Aa Saint-Omer Golf Club, from September 11th to 13th, in collaboration with the LET Access Series.
The 2025 Season will end with a stop in Italy from October 9th to 11th and the Alps Tour Grand Final from October 16th to 18th, both locations will be announced later in the season.
The Alps Tour Grand Final is the season’s highlight, where the top players earn status to progress to higher-tier circuits. It is a 54-hole event with no cut, open to the top 50 players on the Order of Merit, with a richer prize money and significant points amount that impact the final standings.
At the end of the season, the top players gain valuable access to higher levels:
- 5 cards for the HotelPlanner Tour (formerly the Challenge Tour), a steppingstone to top-level professional golf.
- 6 direct entries to the Second Stage of the DP World Tour Qualifying School, opening the door to the DP World Tour.
Clear Goals: Developing Tomorrow’s Champions
The Alps Tour, founded in 2001, is more than just a competition; it’s a true training ground for young talents aspiring to reach the top stages of global golf. The main goal is to offer emerging players a competitive and developmental environment that prepares them for the challenges of higher-tier circuits.
The value of the Alps Tour also lies in the strong support from national federations, which view the tour as a strategic opportunity for the assistance of their rising athletes. This collaborative network allows players to grow in a competitive context while receiving technical and logistical support throughout their professional journey. The continued involvement of federations, together with strategic partnerships, strengthens the Alps Tour’s role as a springboard for the next golf stars.
The Alps Tour is also open to amateur players, with a handicap limit of 2. Amateurs can earn a spot in the Order of Merit just like their fellow pro colleagues, and sometimes even win the Final Ranking: in 2017, Spanish player Adri Arnaus won the Villa Verde Open, the Grand Final and the Order of Merit as an amateur. He then turned professional and the following year won the Challenge Tour Grand Final, finishing second on the Order of Merit and gaining access to the DP World Tour.
With its 25th season about to start, the Alps Tour remains a crucial steppingstone for those dreaming of making history in international golf.
